Turn the ignition switch from Position 0 to ON 6 times within 10 seconds. 2. Then turn ignition switch to OFF position. Leave key in ignition switch. 3. After 2 seconds, the system will enter programming mode and will flash the warning lights twice. 4. Press and HOLD the unlock button on the remote key. 5. While pressing the unlock button, press the lock button 3 times. 6. Release the unlock button. 7. The warning lights will flash once to indicate successful programming. 8. Repeat procedure 4 to 7 for up to 4 key’s. 9. When completed turn ignition ON, and the warning lights will flash 2 times. 10. Remove key, and check all remote key’s for operation. Notes: - This procedure works for these vehicle models: * ALMERA * ALMERA TINO * PRIMERA * MAXIMA * MICRA * SERENA * VANETTE CARGO * TERANO II * Honda Accord * xtrail - thanks to Sergejs Baltmanis for sharing - The programming mode will stop when either the ignition is switch ON, 4 keys have been programmed or no input signal either from the switch or remote keys has been received for 120 seconds.
@@Legend828asf5 what is your car brand and model? Do you have a working remote that you can try this with? Probably the remote you are currently using or a spare.
Excellent video - solved my issue easily. What was particularly important was the fact that you had to have a few attempts at programing the key before it worked. Previously I had just tried once and given up when it didn't work. Great work :-) Many Thanks
Success! Also if you changed the key battery, make sure the battery is inserted the right way in. Mine was not. My dealership tried to charge me $100 in 2009 to do this, I just could not pay so much. Drove without remote for 8 yeas. I thought there would be a specialist programmer guy with a laptop coding for a week, programming my key, breaking a sweat, glasses fogging up etc. Turns out this is how it's done (it worked). It's been so long, feels like a new car feature! Thank you!
Lovely job, worked a treat 👍 (2006 Almera) i tried following written instructions that appear on the web but they miss a couple of steps - taking the key out before pressing the buttons + coming out of programming mode before testing. Thanks a lot :)
***ATTENTION*** This method works but you need to be inside the car, with the doors closed but UNLOCKED. Make sure your doors are unlocked or you could be trying for an hour like it just happened to me. And watch carefully for how is the battery inserted, as well. The flatter side of it needs to be put facing "outside" the battery case, and the "button" has to be placed looking "inside" the key, where the circuits are. Good luck!
@@Shogoeu I tried at least 5...but it worked in the end. I think it has something to do with how fast it's done. I suspect that it needs to be done slowly, not too fast, the way you did it in the video. Thanks again!
@@BboyAL1 if you want it to work it's good to know that it could take several attempts. If you don't know that, you might give up before the problem is solved.
I have the same car, i can enter in programing mode, but when i press the lock key with three times on unlock to set the key, doesn't work..I'm so upset
Hi, thanks for this. I tried these instructions but didn't work, my car Nissan x trial, 2004. When I hold the unlock button and 3 times lock button I got no response,... I changed the battery also nothing.
Hello. It's possible it doesn't work for every xtrail, sorry. Sergejs Baltmanis wrote in a comment it worked for him. I haven't tested it myself so i can't say.
I am not sure what you mean by “it does not respond”. There are electronics in your car and in the key - depending on what you see, the problem can be in the key or in the car. Can you describe what you’re doing and what happens? Do you have a working key? If you do, the problem should be in the key.
I lost my original key so I bought a new master key from the Nissan dealer using my pink slip and had them cut it only not program it. I got home and the new key unlocked everything fine but will not start my car it just cranks. I tried a lot of different ways suggested on videos and nothing works. I have a 2000 Nissan maxima
Hello, Ron, from what you wrote I see you are having difficulties with your immobilizer. This video shows how to program your remote key fob to open the doors. Unfortunately i am unable to guide you, how to fix the issue, what i'd suggest is to contact the dealership and tell them the key you bought won't start the car - they will know what to do. Usually in such a case, we disable the immobilizer, but i don't recommend that, since you've already bough and original Nissan key.
Hi- great video. Can you help. I have this car and just got a new key fob online but I cannot get it into programming mode. As a test I tried getting into reprogramming mode with my old key too (which works fine) and I couldnt access reprogramming mode with that key either. Why is this? any tips?
+Trisha O , hello. Can you describe step by step what you are doing? Make sure when you are turning the key to on and off, to make it 6 time in under 10 seconds. At the end don't pull the key out until the car flashes the warning lights - it may take a few seconds to do so. That was the mistake I was initially doing - pulling the key out too fast.
Hi I lost my primary key but hopefully i have a second one.I want to buy another one and having found a used one (with pcb and immobilizer key) on ebay do you believe it could be reprogrammed to my own car (having cut a new blade first) or a new blanc key is necessary? Thanks
If you have a separate remote, the procedure is the same. Use your key to start the programming mode, then use your remote. The remote doesn't have to be inside the key - they are two separate things, just the 'box' is the same in my case.
@@Shogoeu because the other Nissan remote programming modes I saw on youtube, you actully need to lock all the door with this button. Just trying to compare them. Thanks
I am not sure about that. Probably it will not work, because you will need the NATS chip added into the computer before you can program your remote. If you have the chance to try, please tell us the results.
I am not sure - I've never seen this feature, and I don't have the car to test it right now. You can try pushing the lock / unlock button for more than 5 seconds and see if that moves the windows. Also the same with the key - when locking / unlocking, keep the key in that position for 5 seconds and see if that helps.
You need to connect your on-board computer to your laptop using OBD-II and use a special software to add the transponder chip signature. I'd suggest to find a local locksmith that works with cars to reprogram your immobilizer.
Hi! I didn't succeed to program my key. I pass the first section but second won't work. Light will flash but when i do the second part when hold buttons at The same time doors try go to lock position but drivers door won't lock others will be but they dont stay locked.
What car are you doing this on? Does the car flash two times to enter programming mode? When you are in that mode, the buttons on your remote shouldn't activate the locks at all. Or did you program your key and the car wouldn't stay locked? In this case you try with another remote - to see if it's a problem in the remote or a mechanical/electrical problem.
My car is Nissan Terrano 2. Yes light will flash. I get to The programming mode but after that when need to push buttons it won't lock drivers door but others will lock. I think i have something else problem on the central lock system.
@@teromattila1214 I searched online and it seems that this is normal for Terrano programming. I don't have the car now, but it seems that my door was also unlocked after programming. After you turn off programming mode, does the key still lock all doors except the driver's door? Do you have protection about accidentally leaving your key in the car (usually driver's door won't lock)?
Very nice video!!! I have a few questions so i want to be sure before i try the hole thing. So!!! I have lost my second key and i only have the last one that i obviously use :P. The plastic from the buttons of this key is completely destroyed so i cannot use them. I unlock the car manually. 1) I want to ask if a locksmith can create a new key without the NATS system(simple key) will the car be able to start up ???Also can he create a second key with the NATS system without using my car just by using my prime key? 2) Another question is...Should i enter into programming mode with my original key or with the empty one? You confused me in the last seconds of your video:P 3) Also this kind of programming creates new code in the key or clones the original key code? Thanks!!!

I am not an expert, but I will share my thoughts. 1) Yes - a certified locksmith will be able to cut the key blank and program your car's immobilizer computer to accept the new chip that comes with the key. The car will not start if the chip is not added to the NATS system, unless the immobilizer module is disabled(I do not recommend that). 2) You can enter into that mode with any key - the programming is only for the remote control, so it doesn't matter at that point. 3) What I showed in this video actually establishes a communication between your remote and the car's computer, so the car can recognize the remote's signal and react to them. Some information is saved in the car's computer, while nothing new is created in the key.
Thanks for your response. I made a second key from a locksmith. From what i read in the internet the engine will start only if the key has the transponder chip(my new key has this transponder). I was wondering.... If i use a remote controller like one you open a garage, will be a able to program it?
Sorry but the answer is NO, using the stock controllers. In theory it's possible but in reality the garage key and the car key use different frequencies for communication(upper 300s for the garage remote and lower 400s for the car key). Also they probably use different kind of encryption and communication protocols. If you want to use the same key for both, you will probably need to modify either your car or your garage door, or both to work with the same key.
Hello, I have a 1998 N15 Nissan Almera and have tried loads of ways to try and get the alarm key/fob working - I have replaced the battery, and tried to reset the alarm, but not having much luck. Can you, or any of your followers help.
Hi there. I will try to help you, but there are some things we need to check. When you try to re-program your remote into the car, does it indicate the remote was saved in the memory(usually by flashing the warning lights)? Does your spare key(if you have any) remote fob work? This will help us find out if it's a problem with the remote or the car itself.
Hi, i allmost get it to work. The problem is that i only get the unluck buttom to work, the lock doesn't work. So wierd since you need the two buttoms to program the key at all so that means the lockbuttom work but somehow the car doesn't respond to it?
Sorry for the late response. When you push the lock button does the car respond in any way? Like flashing the warning lights. It's possible the problem might be somewhere else - not in the remote.
I see. Do you have any currently working remotes? It's possible that the radio receiver in the car is not able to detect the signal from the remote for some reason.
This will program only the remote part of the key. If you have changed the whole key, you will have to program the immobiliser to accept the new transponder chip. If you have the old key, you can just put the the new remote on it. If you have lost the old key, please go to a specialist to program your immobiliser.
@@r3ck17rick7 You can program the key fob(the remote control that unlocks your doors) but you can't add the NATS transponder chip into the system that way. You need to connect using OBD2 and reset it from there.
