In this episode of HawksDIY, I install a new PCV valve in a 2014 Nissan Frontier. In retrospect, I should’ve changed the PCV valve when I installed the new spark plugs. The job would’ve been much easier! Regardless, I recommend replacing the PCV valve every 30,000 miles. It’s very important to keep the crankcase ventilated. I hope this video helps! Enjoy!

I love my Nissan Frontier a lot. If you follow the maintenance schedule everything should go well. There are not many up for resale so that suggested to me that they can't be that bad. I'm sure glad I did.

The price of vehicles these days is outrageous so I'm happy my Frontier was affordable and reliable!!

Surprisingly mine, that I just inspected at 166k for the first time, was barely over hand-tight. I guess it's because of the washer/o-ring combination and plastic construction that it doesn't need to be tightened excessively.

Thanks very much for your suggestion on changing approximately every 30,000 miles. Great idea.

I'm thinking about getting a Frontier. What do you think of yours? Have you had a good experience with it?

Overall I have no complaints. It's been a good truck! Mine is an older model so I'm sure they've changed quite a bit over the years.

I have a 2015 Pro4.. best mid size truck ever.. the only issue I had was the cam shaft sensors ..changed myself no more problems .. already put 110K miles … just keep the reg. Maintenance … Paid around $25K a new one is around $47K!! Same model😮

Hello again, did you use 45 our 90 degree bent needle nose pliers?
@HawksDIY

I think those were 45 degree pliers. Just enough bend to get around the corner. :)

Great job. I have any 2011 Nissan Frontier v6 going to change out PCV and hose. Question, did you use regular or deep socket & is it regular straight wrench or special? Thanks
@HawksDIY
@HawksDIY 4 месяца назад
Thanks! I used a "specilaty' ratchet with multiple bends which allowed me to work around everything. The socket wasn't a deep socket from what I recall. I can't remember the socket size but you'll just have to find one that fits your new PCV valve. Thanks for watching!!

@@HawksDIY Great, thanks for the reply. Very limited space & wasn't sure if a regular ratchet would work. I will look into the ratchet & believe my local Harbor Freight carries a similar. Thanks and wish me luck ...lol

@@supercraig2009 , Yeah it's pretty tight area to work that's why I used that ratchet. You'll figure it out! lol Good luck! :)

@@Davy-pj8mu , first off, the heater core and fan blower is inside the cab. Have you checked the coolant level in your radiator and overflow tank? Any leaks? Your heater core will struggle to heat the cab if the coolant level is severly low and if your coolant is low your engine will run hot. Also, a bad thermostat can affect the heater core. Hope this helps!
@M1keo

It's your coolant that has air in the system. Get all the air out and your good to go. I do mine once before every winter and it works great.
@Monee1885
@Monee1885 7 дней назад
It’s not that easy! The pcv valve is almost impossible to get too. I had to take off the heater core inlet and outlet to reach it.
@HawksDIY
@HawksDIY 6 дней назад
Yes, the PCV valve is in a bad location, but I didn't have to mess with the heater core. I used a special socket wrench that adapted to the horrible angles. I hope you were able to get it fixed! Thanks for watching! 👍
