We drove it in Dubai a while ago but now it's here in India, in a slightly different spec. Shapur Kotwal heads to the Rann of Kutch to sample the Nissan Kicks and tell you if it's a worthy rival to the Renault Captur and Hyundai Creta.

Kick is the best looking among Brezza, Creata, Nexon, Ecosports. It surely has quality Seats, dual tone colour exterior, imposing front, quantity ride & handling. Kick surely is Captur substitute since Captur could not capture place among the Indian buyers. Overall Price package, features & efficiency are prime factors for Indians. Tereno & Captur failed due to poor knee room, initial zip in both the engines. If priced at least ₹ 2 lacs lower than Creata buyers might think of taking an interest in Kicks. Otherwise Creata presently has the best over all package with sunroof & loads of features. Not easy to replace or make tents in their sales

Car Manufactures should understand by now automatic option should be a mandatory ...i would never buy a manual SUV unless i need a serious off roader 4 X 4 for trail blazing and kinda stuff ....we need automatic option for traffic heavy cities ....i am not buying one for sure but would have considered if an automatic option was on table .....

I disagree. In a place like India, the roads are bad and we all like to drive fast and automatic transmission is not fast enough and as I have driven a automatic car in the Middle East, they get a lot of complaints than the manual. So I think within a few years the automatic cars WILL flop!

@Cash Money semi automatic - you can still change the gears (not exactly like a manual) but it's going to be without a clutch, automatic - the car does it all

The design is pretty bad , although the car might be but in dimensions, but it's design makes it look really small. Creta is a much better looking car any day

I really liked this car. but the problem is that nissan might price it more than the captur. nissan brand is more like a premium brand according to the Renault group. so i expect 10.5 to 14.5 lakhs ex showroom. Lack of automatic could be a bummer to a lot of people unlike me. Hope they price it well. Fingers crossed!!

Kicks is the same car as Renault capture with a different name. So, I assume it'll be NCAP4 (as capture). But Capture with smooth curves and floating indicators, looks much sexy, unless you're just looking for SUVish features. And the ride n handling quality is the best in the segment. Have a back to back test drive of Nexon, EcoSport, Creta and Kicks or Capture, things will be evident. But with 2.5 lakh discount on capture and higher price of kicks, why should one pay extra 3 lakhs for buying Kicks (top model) instead Capture (top model), which is theoretically and practically the same car?

No automatic. No sunroof. A rough-sounding engine. Nissan badge. It will be tough for Kicks. Looks and novelty factor alone won't be enough to sway buyers. Pricing it at par with Brezza and EcoSport might help.

At least they gave HID projectors instead of Halogen Projectors which Hyundai gives on Creta. Price is the only thing which can help it against Tata Harrier.

Attractive details and good package but pricing will be ultimate decisive factor about Kicks fate ,Lower speck Harrier will be miles ahead of it hard to beat and top version of Nexon provides almost all goodies barring marginal size compromise in few areas like boot space, wheel base and wheel size but that hardly restrict anything while being miles ahead of competition as for pricing is concerned. So Kicks is locked in between top spec Nexon and lower spec Harrier ,how can it will get out of this master stroke of TATA......??

Why does a great company like Nissan commit such blunders? They cloned the Duster (and didnt do as well) and now the Captur, which itself is not doing well. Only way to go is lower prices now. If they cannot bring a smaller SUV such as Brezza, they may find the going tough in India.

To me, it looks more like a premium Hatchback or a Crossover rather than an SUV. I’m not impressed by its looks. It is hard to believe that it’s longer than Creta or Capture - Looks in video are deceiving !! I have my doubts about Kicks being able to make an impact in Indian market.

The top variant is priced at 14.65 lakhs rupees (ex- showroom). No automatic transmission in any of the variants. I feel that it's better if car makers provide automatic transmission variant atleast in top models, considering the traffic situation in most cities in India. Whereas top model Creta provides a sunroof, an automatic transmission, wireless charging and feels solid in terms of quality. I don't think Nissan kick will have that kind of an impact, considering the fact that's it's kind of late in the market with nothing really new to offer.

I drove the petrol variant of it. And m disappoint. Nodoubt that look is fabulous. But it misses out few basic and functional things. Firstly their is no electronically adjusted OVRMs. To close ur side mirrors one has to go back to 15 years and roll their windows and manually shut the side mirrors. What?? R u serious? And let me talk about the driver seat. It feels that I am in a very tight position and body feels trapped. Their is no foot rest beside clutch pad. And no matter how much u try but u feel the area to be so small in space. Driving comfort is definitely sacrificed massively.
