Thanks for uploading the video. I fixed my leak after I'd changed oil and filter. I replaced the seal without draining of oil just removed the filter only. I lost a half quart of oil that's all. I noticed that the old seal was in good shape but the bolt that holds the oil cooler was out of torque not tighten at all. Possibly all I needed was to re-torque the bolt at 36 ft-lb that may fix the leak. Oil pressure at idle is only 14 psi and at 2000 rpm is 43 psi that low.

Perfect repair Jonathan! It would have been nice if the owner would have brought you the correct amount of oil though lol.

Nicely done and clean. 👍 I think most oil coolers up here are oil warmers in the winter as the coolant sure get hot faster than the engine oil ever does. Cheers

I just replaced an oil cooler on my 1999 E150 Econoline Explorer Limited Camper Van. I thought I would mention for those reading these and watching this video.. that I did not see a single drop leaking after I changed the oil cooler for three days.. not a drop but the fourth day... it started to leak.. so I am about to remove the cooler and check it and put it back on it is leaking from the top of the cooler where the gasket it.. the gasket / O Ring on this one is attached.. so it may be it just needs to be a little tighter.. I will see soon.

What are you using to clean the areas ? And what would you recommend for a good engine wash ?
@themechanic6117
@themechanic6117 4 года назад
Brake parts cleaner is what I was using. I would wash a engine unless you know what you're doing. Water in the wrong areas can cause alot of damage

I wonder if you can just re-torque the nut without removing the assembly as the o-gasket always seems to be intact
@themechanic6117
@themechanic6117 2 года назад
It might work if it the nut was simply loose. If it's not loose then trying to tighten it won't do anything but damage

I noticed oil leaking on my 2007 Nissan Armada but it seems like it doesn’t leak much … could it be that it’s just starting to leak?
@themechanic6117
@themechanic6117 2 года назад
Have you identified where the leak is coming from?
@josej-h1471
@josej-h1471 2 года назад
@@themechanic6117 it seems to be leaking from the top of the cooler /warmer then go down to the bottom of the filter. But must be a small leak because I clean the area real good and I check today and no signs of oil on the ground even though it does have the skip plate below so if it is leaking constantly it takes a couple days to see it visually on the ground .
