Nissan Titan Valve Cover & Gasket Replacement (04-15)

In this video I show the steps and procedures necessary to replace a valve cover and gasket on the Nissan Titan, for years 2004 through 2015. This seems to be a common leak on these motors. The valve cover houses grommets that are used to seal the spark plug tube in the center of the valve cover, these grommets can leak after time and are not serviceable. You will need to replace the entire valve cover in order to install new grommets. Very important to use the correct Torque specification and torque sequence when tightening the bolts for the valve cover. One thing that'll save you time from doing this job is to not disconnect the connections from the coil packs the whole coil pops out and not having to disconnect all 8 connectors will save you time and save you from potentially breaking the clips. Just put them all to the side just like you did with the bungie to hold everything from being in the way 👍🏼

Awesome video, just completed the job with the iPad next to me following right along each step as you did it. Really appreciate you posting this and explaining the job in detail. The only issue I had was it looked like they were trying to use up the rest of the liquid gasket material at the factory as I had quite a bit in the corners I had to get rid of, much more than the one you were working on. Job came out great and was fun to do. Thanks again

@@nutthrower4415 yup me too I had both sides leak, I replaced the valve cover on the deivers side only and didn’t use the gasket sealant on the passenger side so far no leak

@@saibermaster how many miles were you at when you did yours ? Thanks . I’m at 109,000 and I think mine have some mild leaking going on and should probably be changed out .

@@Chevy-hw6lw don’t forget to use that gasket sealant on the forward outer corners as the video mentions, I didn’t put it on the passenger side and its not leaking, after seeing this video the left one started leaking then I had to redo it put the sealant on and 2k miles no leaks on either sides lol

Just wanted to say I love your videos man their just what I need to work on my titan, but i had a question not sure if you can answer. I have an 06 titan and I'm having an issue with the slip light staying on and getting a code of U1000 I've looked this up and everyone seems to have a different take on the cause any chance you have experienced this and can give me a heads up on what i need to do ? I do not have an inch pound torque wrench. Can incb pounds convert to foot pounds? I'm afraid I either stripped or broke the back center bolt in bank 1. What can I do to fix this bugger?

Would this cause the truck to over heat? I replaced the thermostat, water pump, pressure test the radiator, burp it multiple times. Still over heat.

I can't find a digital torque wrench that goes as low as 17 inch pound. Mine only goes to 60 inch pound lowest. Can I do first pass at 60 then 73??

It's to ensure the cover doesn't warp .its laying it evenly and start in the middle and work your way out . Imagine a 6 bolt pattern you would start 2,5,1,4,3,6 but just an example

Is my first time with my 2012 titan,i bought it last year,sometimes when i go half throttle i feel the engine slow,or like if i didn't pushed the throttle,so i have to go full throttle and then is when i get a good engine response. ¿Any idea of why that is? Thanks.

These engines are vvt so you will feel some slow acceleration but it's really just the mediocre programming from Nissan that makes a very erratic shift pattern. Not sure exactly how yours is running but it sounds normal to me.

@@lucianomacedo5100 Variable Valve Timing It adjust the time in which the valves open and close which changes the torque and hp to the RPM you are at. Say in a non VVT Engine you had peak torque at around 4500 rpm That's where peak torque is and lower rpm or higher rpm you will loose torque but with VVT it will give you peak torque well for the Titan at I believe 3500 RPM and maintain maximum torque up to 4500 rpm. Most non VVT Engines will have a sharp increase and decrease in torque among the rpm but with VVT it adjust so you get a much smoother torque curve throughout the RPM.
