Scott, because of your videos, you have rekindled my passion for r/c boats. Specifically unlimited hydro. Once i got married and had kids, rc faded away. Im a CNC machine operator and i do the cad programming for my machine so about a month ago i designed a boat with a mid 90's hull design. I had always wanted a big scale boat so i designed the boat i am currently framing out in my garage to full 1/4 scale. Because of its size it will be a fiberglass shelled boat. I just wanted to thank you for taking time to put these videos together, if it was not for your videos, i wouldnt have gotten back into rc boats, especially at this scale. Great videos, fantastic builds, keep up the great work!

As always looking like a great boat coming over to Electric👍And FYI that is a great added security on the steering rod and started drilling and adding the hole💪Boats are super fast and a lot can go wrong,and those little tricks add that little extra to keep you running hard👍Love the video as always😎

Scott Meyers you mention at 40:30 that somewhere online a company that sells the pushrod ends you glue into the carbon fiber tube. You might be thinking of Central Hobbies in Billings, Montana that sells Titanium Push Rod Ends specifically for their carbon fiber pushrods (tubes). I purchased for my 1/8 scale hydroplane the Part#: CHMROD38 pushrod with the .210 inch outside diameter. And the Part#: CHMPRE38T4 titanium ends with the 4-40 threaded end. The threaded end is only 3/4" long. And I purchased what they recommend for an adhesive IC-2000 cyanoacrylate carbon and rubber toughened. I might purchase from Central Hobbies a small diameter carbon fiber pushrod and titanium ends for the rear wing supports on my 1985 Miller American.

They definitely don't make things like they use too, and im 31. I drive a 92 Silverado for a reason, reliability. I have a ton of old Sears tools, can't break them.

Go for it Gary! Even if it's not ideal you'll still learn a ton just from getting epoxy stuck in your hair

@@M5PerfHydros no hair for me,im bald😂.the rear end of the boat I figured out. I’m still confused about how to build the center at the cockpit area of the boat.and the bull nose area.i built some blocks and had ready to install but it just doesn’t seem correct.im thinking I may build a solid nose across the front like your boats and get a cowling like yours and forget about trying to build like the tide hydroplane.even if I purchased the cowling I don’t think it will help me determine the angle towards the nose of the boat and once it’s epoxied there’s no turning back

I can understand. When I build a boat I spend way more hours thinking and staring at it than I do in the actual building. But still... There's no such thing as 'no turning back' with wood boats. If you don't like it, cut it off and redo it.... I do that all the time. It's what makes wood boats so much more interesting than fiberglass hulls.

@@M5PerfHydros Only if something goes very very bad with your setup will those packs swell up. I don't expect you to run into that trouble however if they swell enough in a bad circumstance, you will need a Dremel to get them out. Again, it would have to be a grave error to cause this. I love your build style. I love your videos, thank you for all you are doing!

Any suggestions on how to make that awesome steering shaft if you don't have a lathe? Most of us don't, lol. What steering servo do you use? You build incredible boats sir.

I do have a suggestion... Buy a lathe! Optionally, I know a few guys who use these. They are for a smaller carbon tube, and I prefer the larger, but you could always sleeve them up if you wanted to. www.centralhobbies.com/singleprod.php?id=1789

Hi Scott, can you do a vid on how to setup and run nitro boats? i beleive the race type engines run a little different to your run of the mill engines ie higher revving, temperatures etc. I am enjoying the videos keep em coming also not sure if you have could you go through rules on racing and do you have a frame for general lake play ie not racing but just having a good old blast

Daaaang Scott!!! Great to find all of your incredible videos on here!!! Question... Why do are you running a receiver pack on an electric boat? Is it for voltage sag from the motor draw? No capacitors? Maybe that's in the next videos... I'll just keep watching!!! Hope to run into you again soon... I'm in the market for a hull to test my chops on the water!

I know this is an older video. However have you considered using an ESC with a built in BEC to pwer your receiver and steering servo to eliminate the receiver battery? Less weight and wiring.

Have you considered using an ESC with a BEC to power your receiver and steering servo, which elminates the Extra receiver battery. Less weight and simple wiring?

Hey Scott, as you suggested Im building. Its a Black Pearl P Sport. Thanks to you its going great. I noticed the floor of your hydro looks glossy. What are you using after you seal? Is that clear coat? Thanks again for everything.

Yes! I first seal it with thinned epoxy. Apply it heavily, wait a minute or two, and then wipe out all the excess epoxy with paper towels. After it hardens I scuff it very thoroughly with 3M pads to smooth the surface and remove all gloss. Now when I clear the boat I shoot heavily in the interior. The result is beautiful and very well sealed

I was disappointed to find the weight increased by almost 8 ounces to nearly 12lb. But... When I weighed it before it was with the fuel tanks empty so it's probably a wash.
