Zondervan's first updated Thompson Chain Reference Bible is the NIV, typeset with the NIV Comfort Print typeface designed by 2K/Denmark. I've covered the design and size comparisons in previous reviews. This review will focus on the Premier Collection version of the new TCR.

I’m glad that they have it in black letter edition and I wish they left the archaeological supplement in as I’m interested in history and I do use it more than I use the maps I think that they should put it back in there are other Bible that still use them in there new ones like photos and discussion of them through out the Bible and like to see more line paper for notes

Fantastic review, and I am excited to get the large print version. Have you had a chance to see the newest Thinline NIV Premier large print in Brown Goatskin?

Good review Randy! I like the Bible. I do hope they come out with a large print NASB TCR in the Premier collection at some point. It would be really nice if it was a NASB 77, but I seriously doubt they will do that in a premium.

Thanks! So far, they only plan to produce the regular size in the Premier Collection. Hopefully, there will be too many requests not to produce the large print in goatskin. :-)

Hi Mike. This is the first premium TCR at this level. Kirkbride did a premium version many years ago. It was in calfskin if I remember correctly. It didn't have premium paper or print quality.

So I received my copy today. What I wanted was the old TCR with nice paper and leather. What I received was a lot of good content, nice leather and paper, but so many quaint illustrations were omitted. I am somewhat unhappy because I was going to donate my old TCR, but I have to keep it now. Disappointed that they chose to edit out stuff I liked! Also, not putting anything on the spine to say TCR is just lazy.

I ordered this in the KJV premier edition and other ones in the other KJV regular size and handsize in the regular edition won’t be available until November 1 2022 So I’ll have all the Thompson chain comfort print edition in the three sizes

I like the outer column ref design. it is similar to the Ryrie. I guess it's "text justified" lol. looking forward to the KJV of this. I love watching your reviews and interviews.

I think only the Comfort Print editions will be available in the Premier Collection. The 77 will remain available in its current form, while either the 95 or the 2020 will be produced in the Comfort Print/Premier Collection.

Not familiar with the other company, but the Comfort Print Zondervan uses it great.(They use it in the KJV, too.)

If I made a premium, I wouldn't do red letter either. It reduces the chance of getting returns. It eliminates those "wow, the red is ok until you hit John chapter 5 and then it goes pink" emails.

Hi I have spoke to you before about another video , I don’t know if it your camera or the lighting but the page in the Bible are blurred and sometimes reflect but either way as the viewer I cannot see the pages of the Bible as you explain things. To compare Cat Bible reviews are very clear and you can read every word on the page she is describing. So because your videos are unclear I cannot watch them but would like to ?

Sorry about that. I just don't have good equipment for video. I'm primarily a writer and only do video as secondary to my blog. I might have to start a Patreon and get help for new equipment.

Hi! Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. For study, I'm partial to the Thompson Chain Reference Bible. It provides lots of topical chains rather than commentary. For reading, I enjoy the Cambridge Clarion. It's an excellent size for reading and carry, and it has lots of good references. Both Bibles are available in several translations.
