I started using the Nivea Shaving Cream and it has been the best shave I've had besides TOBS, I'd say it's even better than TOBS, nice smell, nice feeling while shaving, it allows for a very close shave and the post shave feeling is great, back in my days when I used to shave with cartridge razors, I would use the Nivea foam and gel and it would give me great results, so the cream for wet shaving is not the exception, thanks for sharing your experience with us Nick.

I have not had a chance to use mine yet, it is not available locally but I purchased 4 tubes from Walgreen's online at four bucks a piece. I have been using the stuff by Nivea in a white can for years and recently have been doing bowl lathers with it. The stuff in the can does amazingly well with a brush lather. Nivea has been a long time favorite of mine so I am looking forward to tomorrow

Nivea cream has been one of my favorites for many years for all the points that were stated in the video. Quick lather, slick service, and very inexpensive. I always keep a couple of tubes on hand. Great review, thanks for sharing it!

So many people love that Nivea ASB. Before I started shaving proper with a DE, I went through a lot of ASBs because I would get severe irritation on my neck. I found Nivea was one of the worst performers out of all the creams I tried. The absolute best was Clarins Super Moisture Balm. It's expensive, but you need just a tiny amount on your finger to do your entire face. Another more affordable product that I found worked well, but I didn't care for the scent, was Body Shop Maca Root Balm. It cleared up irritation really well, but you need to use more product and the scent (although a personal preference) wasn't great. It also didn't leave my skin as smooth as the Clarins. I guess at the end of the day everyone has different skin types, so it's really a personal choice.

I just bought all 4 tubes on eBay of this stuff at $2.99 a piece. I got $1 off each tube for buying all 4 from the same seller on eBay. I’m super impressed by the sensitive after shave balm, now I’ll be set for years with the shaving cream. Nivea is very legit.

Great review Nick. I also enjoy the Nivea shaving cream, it is the best I can purchase locally in Chile. What you need to fix your lighting issue is to set a manual exposure (to prevent the camera from changing it causing the dark scenes). If your camera doesn't have manual exposure you might consider bringing additional lighting to the bathroom.

I've been using basically this cream for some time now, even since before the Germans imported it here. I've never used the sensitive skin variety, only the "mild" which may be their equivalent. This stuff is the best I've yet to use, and I can an even smaller tube last a year and a half- you have to use barely any at all! Great stuff, great review.

Another great review! I have to tell you that the Nivea products are almost everywhere at my country and all around Europe. I had try the Nivea in the blue tub a couple of years ago and it was ok. After your review I thought to give it a try to their new white tub for sensitive skin and I was blown away! Great product! As you say easy to lather A LOT of slickness and prevents irritation! Although I am a soap guy I have to say that it is an amazing cream ! Keep up the good work!

The Nivea is available on Amazon. 3.5 oz for 4 bucks. I picked some up a few weeks back. Had a few nice shaves with it. It will be my go to travel cream.

I may stop experimenting with shaving products because my experience has been so consistently good with all of the nivea products I have been using. Of course, this won't work out in practice, because like you, I like trying new and interesting things that are in the shaving world. Great review as always. Been using Nivea foam for almost 10 years. My favorite. I do apply Dove Men/Care on my face & leave it on as I apply Nivea foam. Helps avoid any red marks. I also use Gillette, smooth.

I can't tell you how many times I passed this by in one of the pharmacy chains and online. I'm definitely going to buy it after that review as I also think that the Nivea Sensitive Post Shave Balm is an excellent product. There's a cooling version that I'm trying to find, too. I'm still trying to determine if the post shave balm bottle is glass or a very hard plastic. Regardless, they put out a pretty nice product considering the lower prices.

Wow I just bought a tube of this based on your review and it was the easiest product to use that I've tried. It absolutely blew away the cheap Wilkinson Sword soap I was using. For the past few months I thought the thin lather I got while adequate was because of the brush. I have now discovered it was simply a product that requires TONS of water to work properly. This stuff. soak my brush, put an almond size dollop on the top of my synthetic brush and face lather. Had more than enough than enough lather after about 30-45 seconds. Had tons left over for a 3 pass shave. tons of protection and the post shave feels amazing. I think I'm going to throw away the WS soap because it's garbage compared to this stuff. I honestly think I'll switch to creams for ease of lather after this experience. Best $3.77 I've ever spent on a shave product! Thanks for the great reviews Nick you rock

I like the scent, the ease of lathering, the slickness and protection can't be beat and the post shave feels amazing what more could you ask for in a $4 tube of shaving cream?

i just tried to use this cream for the first time today. It doesn't seem to be very common any more but i was able to get 2 of those tubes for $9 online with free shipping. This was probably the most amazing shaving cream i have used so far. the slickness and protection was mind blowlingly amazing. (yes, good enough to make up words). i think they are done making this stuff though. the nivea shaving gel is everywhere but i cant even find this stuff on the nivea website anymore...i really hope not because i have yet to find anything that compares.

Rite Aid drugstore just had a sale for the Nivea Shave Cream tubes..... 2 for $4 !!! So at $2.00 per tube, i took all that was on the shelf, which was 6 tubes. I love that stuff, it really works great. I wish they also made a puck form of it. I also love the balm. The British Sterling Balm that comes in the gift set for $9.99 for cologne and balm combo at CVS works nice too. It has a nice non-greasy face feel.

Thanks to you I went out and got it . Wow . It is good . I did not cut myself. It gave me a great shave . I did use a pre shave oil . This was only my 3th shave . I am still learning . Oh . I am using a knock off 34 c. When I get better I will get a real one or a Jagger 89 .

I find that it dries up rather quickly, otherwise for the price, for the ingredients, for how quickly it forms a rich lather, it's one of the best you can get.

I have used both the blue and white tubs (like the blue scent better) and have gotten the same results you have, awesome cheap cream that works well. I am a little worried about the silicone and my brush though...

Nick, I just ran a little experiment on myself. I made a two-pass shave, first with the grain, then against the grain, bypassing the cross-grain pass. I'm experiencing less irritation than I get with a three-pass shave, and wondering if that cross-grain pass is even necessary. It's too soon to tell, but I think I may be onto something.

In Germany, they only sell the blue standard Nivea. You get the sensitive shaving gel and foam though.

Great Review Nick! I've long enjoyed Nivea's post shave balm scent... but haven't tried this yet as I've been loving my Synergy soaps... but may have to give this a shot too for the sheer value of it. BTW- do you have a synergy shavette? I just got mine in last night and it was actually a pretty nice shave overall... a little irritation in the crook of my neck but I think it was just me going a little too fast... Joe

Again, I can only recommend to use this stuff only with a cheap brush (Dimethicone)!!! That's the reason why this stuff is so slick. Here in Gemany no one of the serious DE community appreciates NIVEA cream, neither the classic nor the sensitive version. On the other hand, the Sensivitive ASB is highly recommendable (one of very few cheap ASBs without Dimethicone). Greetings from Germany, Dan.

Nick, I used this cream for the first time yesterday. I had the same experience with a great lather and performance. Unfortunately I did cut myself with the straight which I hadnt done in a long time. I'll chalk that one up to my fault unless it continues exclusively with this cream.

I will say the first couple times I used this product I was not wowed. I did go back to it when I ran out of my XXX soap. And since doing that all I can say is WOW. My guess is it had to do with the break in period of my boar brush. Thank you for your reviews Nick.

I have a suggestion, and I'm not sure how practical. But I think it would be helpful if you left a link to the other review for the same soap/cream in the description. e.g. Leave a link to the nivea lather review in the description of this video. and Vice-versa. Sometimes It's a real pain to find the other video for that product. On the whole. I really appreciate you making these videos. Good luck with your residency. Orthopaedic surgery is clearly the best specialty

In my opinion it's a good shaving cream, but it has some cons also. It's hard to wash from brush, razor and DE razor, because when it dries it leaves a layer of itself on stuff and makes them waterproof.

Nivea discontinued this product as of March 2016 because of declining distribution and decreasing sales, according to an e-mail response from Customer Relations :( I really loved this soap, it's one of the best creams I've ever used.

Aren't you concerned about it expiring before you use up your stock? It is a cream, and not a hard soap that can last many years in storage. Since it's a German product, it has a useful period-after-opening symbol that says "12M". I probably wouldn't buy a lot of this stuff, because I imagine the tubes would expire or become less effective after a year in storage. A little (pea size) dollop can give me a slick, protective 3 pass shave. Anything more and it becomes a little overwhelming and wasteful. A similar, high value product would probably be Arko or Derby shave cream.

Hey Nick, Great video! I don't know if you've already got the video footage issues sorted out yet or not but I have a few tips that might help, depending on your camera. You want to change the white balance primarily, I don't know if your camera has separate white balance presets but if there is one for fluorescent lighting that might help a tad. Alternatively if you can create custom white balance settings that would probably work out better. Again, apologies if i'm saying stuff you already know!

Have you ever tried Noxzema products?I like both Noxzema sensitive cream and balm as well!!!Both in red package!If you haven't tried them,I recommend them both!I like their scent and their very good quality!!! love all your reviews Nick.. great work. unfortunately, or fortunately (cheaper) i get best results from a can of barbasol. I tried so many different types of cream, brushes but get the best shave and less irritation with barbasol. takes some fun out of shaving but I get less nicks and cuts with barbasol. I get best shave using astra's in all of my DE razors which I have over 30. I get the worse shave with prorasso (the bath and body works version, bigelow)..more cuts and nicks with that vs any other and I get a good lather from it but just not a nice shave.

I must be the voice of dissent. I had awful results with this cream. I had a very hard time lathering, and the lather I got on my face turned out very thin and disappeared pretty quickly. Maybe I used too much water, or my water's too hard to use with this product. But worst of all, my shave was one of the worst I've had. The razor instantly began sticking and dragging (on 1 day of facial hair) like a stone skipping over water. The only other cream that's done this is Burt's Bees, which is also a well-regarded cream. And then to add insult to injury, it left an unsightly white residue on my razor. Am I doing something wrong?

This cream seems to be taken down the Nivea USA website however it's still available in the Nivea Canada website, perhaps it's only been discontinued in the US?

Great review! I second you showing your collection/shave den and give us a top 10 list! Also I know you don't really like your whipped dog because its a bit too floppy and not enough backbone but I just got a 30mm silvertip set at 45 mm and it simply put is amazing for face lathering! I have been a boar guy up till now (omega 10066, omega 31064 and semogue 830) but this brush is EASILY my favorite...I wonder how it would compare to your new badger you got recently (chubby I think??) Anyways thanks for the vid...keep it up

It was ok for the first pass for me then it really started to burn.I had to return it to the Safeway where I bought it. I am new to shaving with a safety razor but I'm pretty sure shaving cream isn't supposed to burn. Can you recommend a good slick protective soap or cream which gives a great lather but won't irritate sensitive skin?

I saw that you reviewed the Van Der Hagen shaving soap, have you considered reviewing Pacific Shaving Company's caffeinated shaving cream? I live in South Florida, but I managed to find it in Publix at $4.99 (before tax) for a 3 oz tube and I picked it up. I noticed that there are very few videos about it and I'd be curious to hear your thoughts. It's exciting to see stores across the US testing the waters for wet shaving supplies. I love going online and buying products, but there's just something special about going to the store to get your product.

Has anyone compared the Nivea Shave Cream to the Foam or Gel? I went against everything I believe in and bought the Nivea Sensitive Shave Foam. It looks like a can container, but I am not sure if it contains the propellants or not. I haven't tried it yet. I can't find the Cream around me in Sheboygan, WI.

Alrighty I went to Rite Aid and found the tubes for about $5 but found out they were on sale for $2 so I picked up a couple of them :D I was surprised how good this cream is and I'm def going to have this as part of my arsenal. Thanks for the review on this shaving cream!

I have this one and I really like it... however I sometimes have hard time balancing the amount of water for a good slickness... It kind of dries out fast, but perhaps it may be the brush or the fact that sometimes I don't spend a huge amount of time working the lather.. but still great! I really like your reviews!! Just one question: I am considering trying out the Proraso (cream or soap, i don't know yet) but you say it is not fantastic... Since it is more expensive, how would you compare to this?

I’m going to try Nivea shaving cream after seeing Nick’s review. Up til now, I’ve been using Proraso shaving creams….both the green and the red. I use a shaving bowl…and the cream is the way to go. Just squeeze a little into the bowl…almond or quarter size….and lather up. Works much better than the soaps. Just my thoughts.

Where do you buy it for $2.99? I can only find it at a much higher price from online vendors. I found it once at a discount/outlet grocery market and haven't been able to find it since. Great video!

I found Nivea shaving cream tubes ("original", not the "sensitive" variety) on Ebay for about $4-5 bucks each with shipping from Germany.

I've just started doing research over the past few days into doing the wet shaving with legit shave cream & brushes, etc... and I have very sensitive skin. Does this cream dry out your face at all? And is the scent irritating at all?

When you told me this was mass produced, great ingredients, under 3 dollars and you got it at your grocery store I immediately when online to search for it. Turns out it's 10 bucks a tube now on ebay and no where around me :c

That's too bad you weren't able to find it. I'm in Canada and was able to find this at a bigger chain pharmacy style store as well as Walmart for 4 bucks.

Surprisingly, these are widely available in Canada (where I live), but a bit difficult to find in the US. Nivea makes great men's products in general. Hope you can find it soon. Good luck.

If you still haven't found it; Wal-Mart carries it, and if yours doesn't you can order it from Wal-Mart's website and have it shipped to your local Wal-Mart so you don't have to pay for shipping.
