Hear Nigerian-born visual artist Njideka Akunyili Crosby discuss her influences and practice with Zoe Whitley, Adjunct Research Curator on 29th September 2016 at Tate Modern.
Awarded Foreign Policy’s Leading 100 Global Thinkers of 2015, and winner of the 2016 Prix Canson, Njideka Akunyili Crosby’s multi-layered works on paper combine painting, drawing and photographic transfer techniques to reveal personal takes on memory, belonging and place. Drawing upon family photos, popular magazines and the history of art, the artist breathes new life into the traditions of still life and portrait-painting.
