Vogelsong was such a big time pitcher for the giants in the post season. I wish him nothing but the best really loved watching him pitch never ever to point of being stubborn would give in to hitters you basically were going to hit the pitch he wanted you to hit. was always cool under pressure he we go down as one of my favorite giants pitchers.
This series epitomized the pre-2019 Nationals more than any other. Best record in the NL - talent-wise a series they should not have lost but lost all 3 games by 1 run while beating the all-world postseason Bumgarner for their only win. Just couldn't come up with the big clutch hits or big clutch pitches to win in the postseason.
walter, The word is "clutch" which most players are not. That is including Clayton, Justin, and many other great regular season players. Our Giants won mainly because of 3 pitchers. Very good clutch pitchers. Vogelsong is also very good. Barry Zito was great in 2012. But the 3 main pitchers, Timmy, Matt, and MadBum were responsible for the Giants' 3 WS victories. So sad all 3 left the Giants.
I was at the 2017 game where Strickland threw at Harper and started a brawl, "revenge" for the home run and stare. Pretty funny that a couple years later, Strickland wins a ring with the Nats and Harper doesn't.
Many if not most baseball analysts predicted the Nationals would win it all. But a winning formula for postseason baseball has proven elusive in DC even with a stacked roster.
That home run by Harper was insane it was so high and long. Great game and the crowd. Where we were sitting it was so loud the whole game did not stop screaming. Vogy! Vogy!
I love how you edit out the commercial breaks. I have mlb.TV and I prefer to watch the replay here. Is there a way you can imbed the KNBR audio instead?
Posey was safe. :( Barrett was blocking the plate. Like, entirely. And still only just got the tag in time. ¬_¬ Glad it didn't matter. Though to be fair there's no way Desmond was out in the 9th...
Will our Giants win as they used to in the early 2010s? I almost forgot that Hunter Strickland trying to hold a 1 run lead and naturally for him, he gave up a homerun. Strickland blew many more games for his team in the next few years. I wonder if they keep a record of players being tagged out at home. If there is, Buster Posey got to be up there.
