I will make one for Kep1er too! Feel free to make more suggestions I agree with the notion that in open style it's Jiwoo>Kyujin>Haewon, but it does depend on the choreo. In a more control, popping inspired choreo I would still expect Haewon to do technically better because she has a better understanding of movement overall. You see that most of the criteria in commercial and open style is pretty much the same. The main difference is that female idols dance jazz funk-ish choreo, and as a result of their training they use their torso differently, there is more of an emphasis on hip movement and a different approach to power and isolations. I don't want to use “jazz funk tiers” however, because it's a pretty well defined style while “commercial” works better as an umbrella term for the different types of choreos that girl groups dance while still being tied to the jazz funk roots. You can think of it as similar to the reason open style shouldn't really be referred to as hip hop choreo even though there are often hip hop elements.
Interesting, I thought in a more body control focused choreography, Kyunjin would have been the best. Some of Haewon’s isolations are either very under-extended or simply not there at all.
@@hieulannguyen7172kyujin really struggles with consistent control. Her and jiwoo are more used to dancing with high energy, they tend to power through. I'm not sure what you mean, underextended? Haewon doesn't use extensions properly at all, but that isn't necessarily for typical control focused open style choreos, quite unrelated topics 🤔
@@ceemaaaa based on the peaches challenge I think so. I'm not actually sure about popping though, it's just my assumption that she would do better in open style choreo that is more based on those techniques (think kinjaz etc)
Hi👋🏽 I finally caught one of your shorts a few hours after upload, even though yt never notifies me about your new vids even with the notis on "All" selected😮💨 Anyways, if you're still taking suggestions it would be cool if you would make a dance analysis of groups on their Anniversary months.😍 I was going to tell you about a Shinee one but their Sweet 16th has long past now, so maybe for next year.😂
it's not kpop but can you analyze ME:I? they're a group created through produce 101 japan and i think the main dancer is good but others quite lacking so i want to know at least the main dancer tier
Because of that energy conservation she was the most stable member in Taipei when they did 2 concerts of almost 3 hours in a single day. Even if Haewon has serious potential for dancing you can see she dances because she has to and always prioritizes vocals over anything else.
Jiwoo is such an interesting case as a dancer. She definitely has moments where she seems like the obviously best dancer but also like one of the worst at other times. Kyujin on the other hand seems like the best all rounder dancer while Haewon is just the easiest to look at one.
I like to add that i think it depends on the clothes a lot. When Jiwoo is wearing long pants she is going full out but when she is wearing something with a skirt, her legs somehow look weird. Run for Roses or Dash are so obvious. When they have primarily leg movements, Jiwoo dances differently depending on how much her legs are shown. (which is understandable, but i never seen it as obvious as with her)
@@mxxnlight_2858Well for Jiwoo depending on the choreos actually, sometimes she seems obviously best because the choreos suit her, while sometimes she seems like one of the worst because the choreos not suit her 😅, she good at open style / hip-hop dancehall while those gg commercial choreos not suit her (This creator's "nail challenges" shorts also mentioned that. Haha somehow reminded me of Dayeon @ Kep1er, also in the shorts better at open style than her mediocre commercial gg dancing, both received criticism of skipping some moves and lacks finer body control etc). Skirts and heels are limiting for open style dancing as open style requires exaggerated moves and bigger space for dancing around so they usually do open style when wearing pants and sneakers more comfortable clothing, regarding your questions about long pants jiwoo. Kyujin seemed to be all-rounder because she can dance to powerful open style like in that shorts but also decent in gg choreos too. Haewon easiest to look at once because most choreos nmixx does are gg commercial dancing tho and she best in commercial dancing~
Haewon seems like a naturally talented dancer. I think Jiwoo and Kyujin were the ones who danced majority of their life and had their training days focused on the dance department, while Haewon just had dancing lessons in the trainee days. Hence why Jiwoo and Kyujin were introduced as the dancers. So in such a short time, Haewon became such a dancing beast who keeps up with two amazing dancers like Jiwoo and Kyujin. That has to be natural talent, and understanding of dance moves and hard discipline. Also do you think she knows that she is an amazing dancer?? Like is she aware of the talent she has not just vocally.
@@mxxnlight_2858 well it's not going to be an idol's fault too if the company itself doesn't provide coaches that really knows how to improve their trainees
@@cutiieeepatootieee2002 sometimes it's not about the teacher but rather our own personal progress, when we practice something for a long time, we tend to stagnate and progress takes longer
But they are from big 4 that can easily scout top talents… if they are from small/mid sized company I think that would be more impressive indeed, like sistar (hyolyn) / mamamoo / seventeen
Hyolyin, Haewon are handsdown the most talented idols ever overall. Also Hyolyn wasn't a visual and had dark skin, that's why they didn't want her in SM.
@@Rozzness ahh it wasn't related to nmixx! it's actually just a meme in kpop. the lines are from double knot by 3racha, i just thought that meme really fit here 😁
Finally you literally brought up Haewon. For being main vocalist alongside Lily she could also easily be main dancer alongside Kyujin. People who say Jiwoo is main dancer material but don’t even bring up Haewon are crazy!!!
Where would Jini land here and what rank would she be if she was still an NMIXX member? Thank you for the video btw, hoping you’d still make a full vid for NMIXX one day 👀 Either way looking forward to the 3rd/4th gg ranking soon!
obviously i know haewon tends to dance small for stability reasons but i really wish she would just give a little more energy like she used to do during debut era i rlly miss seeing her dance “full out” (idk if that’s the right term) 😅
When Badvillain has more content to work with, I think they would be a good pick for analysis. They have some interesting dancers who seem pretty advanced. Others that I think would be interesting would be kiss of life, dreamcatcher, and loona(although I have a feeling that loona probably have a similar situation to the boyz). Revisiting old survival show groups like ioi(mostly for Chungha) and izone would be fun too. My more nugu/lesser known suggestion would be Class:y. They’re unfortunately not really active at the moment, so there’s not a lot of recent footage of their dancing. But I point them out because their main dancer, Hyeju, is one of the first idols I think of that has a real commercial/jazz-funk style to their dancing. Although to be fair I’m not a commercial jazz-funk expert by any means, but she looks pretty polished to me. She also took dance class with Dayeon from Kep1er, and watching them dance together is a pretty good example of the contrast between a commercial/jazz-funk execution and a more open style/hiphop execution.
Marking means not dancing full out/not using your entire body/reaching your full techniques when dancing to conserve energy. Haewon is a fantastic example of this because the gap between her live stages and her dance practice's executions is massive. Haewon is also generally very inconsistent with her techniques. Another good example is Chaeryeong.
Please make a new ranking project like your hyped Big 3 video. Collecting all new groups like Newjeans, Babymonster and others. It's quite enough material to make observations or it will be so in a very near future
Dancing abilities aside, which group do you actually support or actively listen to because of their music? And do you choose your biases based solely on their dancing ability or do their other skills or personality also play a role?
Among new groups I mostly listen to aespa, Ive and Kiss of Life, otherwise I listen to 2nd gen groups to be honest. I don't buy albums etc though, I'm mostly a casual fan of groups whose music I like. I definitely used to chose biases based on variety content but now I don't really watch those anymore 😅
Instead of the visual position, we should have positions that are in between main and lead. What I mean is that this “between” would mean like they should be like the main dancer for example, but they are better in another position that counteracts that and they need to focus on that position that counteracts the other. For example, you could have the biggest potential to be the main dancer, but you are better in vocals, so on stage your vocals are more important, and you improve in other talents as well, but if you focus more on dancing then it could make your vocals not sound as good as they should sound. It’s kinda confusing ik. We should also have positions for the people with the best stage presence
Positions are a marketing strategy to highlight the members strength and weakness, but in nmixx's case, Haewon being the most talented idol ever in JYP and Nmixx being the most all rounded GG in kpop, they don't really need such bullshit. In other groups It's an excuse to the situation that your rapper or visual has to sing their line and it sounds like they are agonizing.
haewon is literally lee know as a female idol lol they both are the best but underrated dancers, they both have the same weakness-not dancing full out because of the choreo level- and they both have similar personalities
Finally someone who recognizes Sullyoon’s dancing competencies! She has been undermined a long time by the audience because of these faulty dance analyses but anyone with a good pair of eyes can tell she has better body control, fluidity, isolations, and placements compared to Lily and Bae. I also disagree that she lacks precision because her execution is usually very clean and ideal for learning the choreo (especially hand details)
Kyujin has been practising and improving her dance, sharing her dance lesson diary on FANS about what needs to be improved, what she lacks, what needs to be studied more and it just shows how much passion she has in dancing. And she is working her vocal technique from scratch too. 🥹 I'm so excited to see her growth in the future
Would you say traditional jazz or modern would help with Jazz-Funk. Or is hiphop the best guess. I have a better jazz and modern technique because i have more experience in those 2 but I want to get better at jazz-funk. Tips would be welcome 😊
Jazz funk originates in jazz dancers who incorporated hip hop and other street styles into their choreography, but it involved in a way that isn't really close to either. Many jazz funk teachers are jazz or hip hop trained and teach some basics from those styles, but it's not really necessary (at least according to my former teachers, I'm not sure if everyone would agree). However jazz probably does help with the lines and alignment (Momo might be an example for that, but I'm not 100% sure what exactly her dance background is)
hi! i have a couple randomish questions for you, if you don't mind. first, how would you rank the nmixx members in terms of freestyle? i know we can only really go off of that live they did a few years back, but i'm a bit curious. second, who would you say is the best dancer in ateez overall? my first thought is mingi or wooyoung but i'd like to know what you think.
Oh so this is a ranking based on idol dancing/commercial dancing?? Cause I was confused when u put Jiwoo third but if it's not an open style dance ranking then I agree
