I HAVE TO SAY THIS IN CAPS. THIS IS THE ONLY EXERCISE THAT CURES 99.9% OF MY SHOULDER IMPINGEMENT PAIN THAT I SUFFERED FOR MORE THAN 3 YEARS. TONS OF TCM/THAI MASSAGES AND OTHER STUFF DID NOT WORK AT ALL. IT WAS HARD TO BELIEVE THAT SUCH SIMPLE EXERCISES WILL HELP BUT IT DID!! THANK YOU. TRY IT, YOU HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE. i believe the high rep count did play a part too.
Shoulder pain for over a year and a half. For a year I couldn’t lift anything over 3 lbs without pain. Tried everything - 4 chiropractors, orthopedist, 2 rounds of steroids. 4 days of doing this and the pain is almost gone! Thank you so much - what a blessing!!!!
I can’t thank you enough! It has only been two days since my should impingement and doing the first exercise saved me from sharp pain!! My left shoulder is finally okay now. This is amazing!
I’ve suffered with shoulder impingement for a few years .. my nhs physio told me to avoid using weights targeting shoulders.. you’ve just demonstrated 3 shoulder exercises that I use .. glad I didn’t listen to my physio … great video 👍
TL;DR: Hang from a bar for 30 seconds, then do 30-45 reps of very light shoulder raises. Do 3x10 reps of grabbing a band and pulling it sideways with your thumb up, and 3x15 reps of pulling the band behind you.
I did every single exercise in this video as recommended, the dumbell shoulder raises were exceptionally difficult, after 1 day a six month constant pain skiing injury has ZERO PAIN or CRUNCHING, this is the best video Ive ever seen, hanging for 30 seconds x10 almost cut my fingers as a Weigh 114 kg, so I recommend buying exercise gloves for this...
This is simply awesome! Magical! have been trying all different things over the past nine months. The progress and relief over the past two weeks have been phenomenal. This evening, after a five mile walk ,I was able to lift my hand over my head to take off my sweaty tee shirt for the first time in almost a year. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
These are very good exercises for fixing this problem, my word of advice , keep doing them even after you feel as if the pain has gone , I stopped thinking I was in the clear and it came back, so definitely keep these in your routine to avoid repeating shoulder impingement..
Thank goodness I came across this video. Just did the hanging exercise and already feel relief and no more clicking. I cant thank you enough for sharing your knowledge to help people with pain.
Just hit a sick chest/back workout and for the first time in months didn't feel pain at all. Ive been doing the rotator cuff exercises with the band after hanging for 30 seconds and after like 2 weeks the pain is just gone, reduced to atoms. I do the Lu raises and front full rom exercises at the end and they been hitting too. If yall have pain like this, rest a few days so the inflammation calms down then listen to what he says. Happy to say im part of the 98% now 🙏🏼
Injured my rotator cuff years ago always had problems with it since with little improvement with stretching. Loss of mobility and pain. Hang on a regular basis as it did help but the second exercises did it during the video without weights the first time and already had an increase in mobility with no pain. Have continued since. Thank you
Wow! Thank you so much I just tried all these exercises for the first time and already notice a difference! My shoulders aren’t popping and clicking like they have been for the last couple years.
To all those who are still suffering from this. Do these exercises and take complete rest from chest and shoulder workout. Do no even do a pushup for a week or max 2 weeks. Do other exercises but avoid putting direct stress on shoulder from bench press and shoulder press. Trust me take some rest and start pressing heavy again in two weeks painfree 🙂
Thank you so much!!! I did the hanging exercise for about two months and it worked for me almost 100% . Now I can bench press and pull ups without no pain .
As a doctor I know some knowledge about shoulder..as a patient myself with a left shoulder issue...these excersizes helped me a lot..for reliif of the issue...thank you very much..
Super! Thank you so much for relieving me from pain that I have endured from a shoulder impingement for months now through your simple and straight forward short class and exercises.
I've only been doing these for three days and I'm already seeing progress and having less pain! The first hang was actually very painful, and I could hardly even raise my arm straight overhead without pain, much less put weight on it. Today's hangs were much easier and I'm starting to put weight into it. Thank you!!! Very happy with results!
Thank you for your direction to move out of shoulder pain! Your direction was clear and articulate. It's the second time in a week I've heard that 'hanging' is beneficial for impingement, a confirmation right there! So I'll be on these exercises and looking forward to healing and freedom of movement as the next few months move on. Thank you again 🙂 Lydia Rieu
Helped immediately!!! I used to have to shutdown my entire weightlifting program for a month at a time.. as my shoulder pain would creep into sleeping while I counted the days of suffering clicking pain with daily living. Your range of motion exercises are great for a quicker recovery!!! Thank you!!
I found your channel by an accident BUT I am absolutely thrilled and delighted by your attitude, sir. ♥ I love how you approach your viewers, how you explain anatomy before exercise and my OCD personality is pleased by your timestamps. Thank you, thank you and thank you again.
I think mine has an impingement, I do feel the pain when doing the test. My shoulder also cracks/clicks every time I rotate it, is this part of the same problem or something else?
Gotta admit, I've been looking at lots of videos on this and you did a really nice job explaining the impingement issue with your visuals. That was much appreciated! These have helped my pain go down 50% in the first day.
Just found your video and will try these excercises to fix the frozen shoulder I’ve been dealing with for the last 3-4 months. Will try to report back on results.
What's important here is that these exercises, while simple to understand and perform, actually work. Even if you do them sporadically you'll experience relief from your shoulder pain. You willsee vast improvement over short periods of time but I can attest, while it took some effort, they cured my shoulder impingement once and for all . Thank you very much Dr. Milton.
I’ve been dealing with this for a decade. I tried PT, a shoulder harness, and lots of other stuff without great results. 2 days of this and I feel 35% better
Hello! I have to say that I was having a really annoying pain in both shoulders and these exercicies are just amazing! I've done it for the last 2 days and I already see a big improvement on my pain and mobility. Thank you for sharing this with us! Small exercices and routines that make miracles!
Just found your vid, did the test and sure enough I have a shoulder inpingement. I start the exercises tonight and will post again shortly in the future.
Thank you. I was in some real pain from this impingement. I saw this video and within the first 2 days of doing it, I was 99% pain free. It worked for me. Thank you!
I got the book by Dr. KIRSCH and after hanging with help from a stool, the severe pain was mostly gone. I gradually hung for longer and without assistance. Then I started the exercises with no weights, then 1 lb, 2 lb and 3 lb. It took 4 weeks of gradual increase in weights and repetitions... I have 100% improvement. It really works. I must say that I had to do the work in small incremental increases. I now just do 20 reps of each exercise with 3 lbs.
I had a shoulder impingement. It was the most painful experience you can ever imagine. Simply lifting your arm past a certain point (horizontal in my case) will drive you to your knees in pain. The worse is you cannot sleep because it is natural to lift your arms during sleep. The best exercise for this is to rest it so It doesn't get worse. Hopefully it will clear and you will not need surgery. The surgery is no picnic either. A long recovery of about 9 months... If you feel bursa pain coming on from a real impingement, rest it, don't aggravate it.
Hello, doctor! I performed the tests and indeed, I have impinged shoulders. And! After trying it out once, my mobility improved. Will do these several more days to experience complete relief. Thank you very much. Next, the exercises to prevent future impingement. ❤
I did all you recommended for about a month and is now totally pain free. Flexibility around the shoulder join also returned. Thank you so much for sharing these useful information
Hello Jasper, thank you for showing these exercises. I did the hanging and dumbbell laterals yesterday and noticed a difference today. My Question is how often should I do three exercises? I'm thinking perhaps twice a week.
I just want to say a big thank you! I play tennis, and recently my playing shoulder has been hurting a lot. I have tried two days of hanging from my stair banister. The first day my shoulder was really sore. On the second day, I played tennis. The pain has reduced substantially, hardly felt any pain while I was playing and the same afterward. This is the best my shoulder has felt for months! So, I had to take the time and say thanks.
Thank you....I m off spiner and after resuming my practice almost 10years later I was feeling tremendous pain in my right shoulder ,I left the match in between I was afraid I ll lose entire tournament but after searching a lot found your video did excercise you explained and almost 50per relief now I can atleast raise my hand ...thank you ...
Hi To all those who are still suffering from this.
I’m pretty sure I caused my impingement while bench pressing. Those two exercises you show are what most people do at the gym before bench pressing. Maybe I should follow their guidance. 😅
I had a terrible shoulder pain that wasn't going away for about a month and I couldn't play tennis or pickle ball which I love so much and had been playing on regular basis before. After watching this video I could say with confidence that I was suffering from shoulder impingement and my pain is gone almost miraculously after doing these simple exercises. So happy I came across this video. I wouldn't have even tried pulling exercises as it felt like it will damage my shoulder further but it made so much sense that I tried them and started feeling the improvement quickly after that.
Been suffering from shoulder pain for years thinking after I tore a rotator cuff at the gym. Honestly didn’t expect the dead hang to work as well as it did but I experienced instant relief of my shoulder. Thanks Doc 🙏🏽
Thankyou I had cortisone injection in both upper arms, but my right shoulder is really pain full, can’t not lay on my side I shall follow your video hopefully pain free results.👍
All I can say is that I had sharp shoulder pain that bothered me for months and I thought I would have to essentially get surgery in order to have it fixed but as soon as I tried these exercises, I could instantly feel a tremendous amount of difference. Two months after I've been doing these exercises regularly, my shoulder pain is completely gone. Now, I am doing exercises I wasn't able to do due to this nasty injury.
Initially, I was not able to do the hanging from the beam exercise due to the pain in the shoulder, I have been doing the other exercises daily for about a year, now 2 years later I can do the beam exercise and shoulder pain is cured thanks to these exercises. Thank you Doctor!
Wow, I wish other therapists can learn from your professional approach and detailed explanation. What is sad about other therapists is NOT so much the high costs but moving patients fast after doing very minimal to treat symptoms not explaining the mechanics of body parts and injury prevention. Thank you so much for your professionalism and detailed explanation
Just completed day 2 in a row. I do believe I am making progress already. I am going to go 12 more days and repost my results. Hoping this is legitimate healing I am feeling and not placebo effect. Two days in I must say thank you so much. Hopefully the progress continues!!!
So glad to come across your videos I’m definitely going to try them. I’ve had shoulder surgery on the right. Now my left is giving me excruciating pain. X-ray said arthritis 🤷🏻♀️ all I know is just the weight of my arm creates screaming pain. Where I live the chiropractor’s I’ve been to (4) might spend 10min at the most with me. And I’ve had shoulder issues with all of them but one. All the good doctors are always too far away!!😢
This is literally the best made video ive seen on shoulder impingement, from background to diagnosis to treatment to future prevention! Its clear, informative and to the point!
I might be getting ahead of myself but after trying these four exercises for the first time just a few minutes ago I already see improvements. My pain was most noticeable when I'd do the common motion of raising my arm to check the time on my wristwatch. Even that motion, especially when trying to raise my arm/elbow above shoulder level, was excruciating. So even though it's a tender motion (first day after all) my range of motion doing that is already massively improved. Will definitely include this routine as early as I can every morning, thank you!
Many thanks for another great video! Just one thing I can not understand yet: Doesn't hanging pull the upper arm bone maximally against the shoulder roof so it directly minimizes subacromial space and pinches every structure there (ligaments, tendons, bursa, ...)??? (At least during this kind of hanging aka "dead hang" where the shoulder blades go maximally up due to disengaged lower traps). Would be more than happy if you could briefly explain where I'm supposing wrong.
Thank you, this helps with pain I suffered from a hit and run accident injury, I have suffered with this pain for years. As a side sleeper this has been awful at night. Thank you for addressing this ❤
Wow! I tried both tests and my shoulder hurts lol looks like I have an impingement. Thanks Doc for these exercises. You saved me a trip to the physiotherapist.
