Great transmission of knowledge from an experienced doctor to a common man in the simplest terms. You made the issue very simple to differentiate and identify, identify the problem to the core. Also pointing out the chances of recovery at different levels of the progress of the disease. Yet to see your videos of the excercises. Thank you doc.

I've been working on a keyboard for my entire 30+ year career. Back and shoulder pain have been a way of life. Recently, I picked up violin playing and this is when the pain has become really problematic, in my bow arm. I discovered your videos connected to a music site i was following and I just want to thank your for the clear explanations! Hopefully on time to deal with this before it gets severe enough to stop me from playing my violin!

Thank you!! Finally a professional that understands!! I have a shoulder injury with a MRI scheduled soon to tell me exactly what’s going on. In severe pain but explained to a doctor that my neck muscles were sore & he told me I need a spine doctor, that neck & shoulder muscles don’t work together as a group. Needless to say, I insisted on getting a new doctor. Not sure why I feel numb from my elbow down to my fingertips at times too but there is something nasty going on in my shoulder & bicep area.

New subscriber. I just want to point out how much you helped me as I had some recent debilitating pain in my shoulder that kept me up at night. I even stayed up for 48 hours because of the level of compression pain I was feeling - out of this world! Sleeping was out of the question! Desperate, I went on youtube and saw your videos on how to alleviate that pressure and it gave me a break from the sweat and frustration I had built up by then (5 am). My only remorse is that you aren't in my area (Cali) and so far, every doctor I've gone to has completely disregarded the aches and pains and treatment that I learned from you (everything to the information regarding partial/full thickness tears that are really only seen by MRI scans, which can also go missed). They would give me the "deer in the headlights" look when I discussed the major points of your videos as you do in your videos. Thank you so much for you knowledge and expertise! You are truly a dedicated and compassionate health care professional and I sincerely wish they were all like you; passionate, dedicated, and incredibly competent. I've had x-rays taken and a crap ton of prescription inflammatory pills and muscle relaxers even topical creams. But I won't stop bothering them until I get a damn MRI so I can get this treated with a PT ASAP! Doing God's work! Thank you!

Thank you Doctor! Your explanation has really helped me to better understand my shoulder problem. I am currently between the 1st two. I have come along way from my torn rotator cuff about two years ago. I couldn't even grasp a piece of paper, my arm felt like it wasn't even there unless it was in pain. I definitely could not raise my arm above my head or behind my back. Physical therapy helped me get back my motion. Unfortunately I'm now suffering with the same shoulder due to using crutches for a few days with a broken foot. I now have a knee scooter to get around although the pain in my shoulder is unbearable and keeping me a prisoner to my bed with ice on it.

Thank you very much for this...most videos don't mention that impingement & tendonitis can also have some of the similar symptoms as a tear (stiff when you wake up, etc). I was confused because after watching those other videos I matched with some of the symptoms of a tear, but I feel no pain when just sitting around, I can lift my arm pain-free 90% of the time, and have no pain at the top of the shoulder where the bone ends, etc. I was also baffled because there was a specific spot on the front of my delt, down pretty low, near the tie-in with the pec where it hurts most. I also wasn't experiencing weakness; I still bench pressed two more times since the onset of the pain (not a smart idea in retrospect), and though it was painful my strength wasn't reduced. It was frustrating trying to figure out what was going on, but after watching this video my symptoms sound EXACTLY like shoulder tendonitis. Thank you so much, I can watch the other videos you have now for some rehab ideas (along with laying off benching for a couple weeks obviously).

Hey just wanna know about those symptoms, did u have an issue when you were moving your arm BEHIND your body, for eg the position of your arm when you're at the bottom of a pushup, or when you're rowing and you're at the top of the motion? Because thats the major movement that gives me pain, that too at a specific spot.

This is an absolutely fantastic video. I'm a poster child for shoulder injury and progression of symptoms, pretty much spot on to what you mention. Rotator cuff, labrum and biceps tear back in 2006 with surgery in 2007. For the most part got considerably better for years, but I've continued to play throwing sports (as best I can) with moderate success (I'd say 80% back to original at one point), but in recent years the shoulder is going downhill with arthritis and a quick sharp momentary pain only when I try to throw hard. Could throw soft toss all day without pain. Man does this annoy the heck out of me. I don't want to give up sports, even at age 55. Anyhow, this is a superb video for anyone wanting more shoulder information. Trust me, I know. On a final note, NEVER GIVE UP!!! :)

I'm a farmer who while building my house back in 2017 discloated my shoulder bad enough that I went straight to RTC and didnt collect £200. Re-dislocation is extremely easy, and new tearing too. Every time I think I make progress in recovery, something happens in my job or life with kids that knocks me back down to earth, and I've had to reposition my shoulder maybe 10 times now since then. Thank you for explaining everything very clearly, and I'm going to be checking your other video for the rotator cuff stretches.

Hey Mak! The Rotator Cuff Tear Recovery Program has officially launched check it out here: The Rotator Cuff Tear Recovery Program is a comprehensive program designed to get your shoulder pain under control to allow the rotator cuff tendons to heal. Then it guides you to correct the underlying root muscle imbalances so that you can fix the source of the problem (rather than just treat the symptoms) and get long-term relief from shoulder pain. This program works even if you've had rotator cuff surgery in the past but continue to have rotator cuff problems. You sir ...are/is amazing in your diagnostic definition. Thank you. I am going in for MRI. It hurts when not moving. Wake up in middle of the night with pain. Numbness is terrible in fingers. Most likely a rotator cuff tear. We will see. Thank you.

Thanks for the explanation between the shoulder issues. I want to say that I have shoulder tendonitis in the front part of my right deltoid, but still have full-motion, and am still able to move my arm in a throwing motion. I also think the cause is a combination of pull-ups and bad posture when using a mouse in front of the PC.

Dealing with the same exact issue right now. How has your recovery process been and how long did it take to recover

@@ACNPCC I can't remember the exact number, but I want to say roughly 3 to 5 months. I had bad shoulder impingement which was probably the cause of my shoulder tendonitis. I'm not at a hundred-percent; got a bit of pain when reaching my arm behind my back, but I can at least do overhead exercises again. Just have to be careful and to do them sparingly. If you exercise, I highly recommend not doing any overhead exercises where you raise your arms up into the air like pull-ups or shoulder presses until the pain has subsided. Ease up on doing dips too because it affect your shoulders. If you use a mouse a lot, it helps to use the mouse at a level where you can maintain your arm at a 90-degree angle without lifting your whole arm upwards to move the mouse.
