@@hammeraffe Yh but I'm saying that if we're talking about 'normal jobs' software engineers earn six figures easily which is still more than enough money.
Sad to work from age 3 or 4 for most of these kids spending a solid 15 years to get to this point just to fail in the fashion that UCF did with 2 missed shots within 2 seconds, one RIGHT NEXT TO THE RIM I feel more sad for that player too but these kids will grow strong from it
When u almost beat definitely best team or maybe this years champ after that squicker , hell of a game / season nothing to be ashamed of ! Tacko , dawkins go to the draft HEADS UP
Huge props to UCF. Y'all played an amazing game. You should be damned proud of that performance. This is why we love college basketball. You won't see emotion like that in an NBA locker room.
Thank you UCF for sharing this moment. While many are grieving for various reasons, it was amazing to see that the players didn't process the loss alone but together as a family.
UCF is on the come up. Their football program is doing well and they're basketball programs are doing well. Recruiting talent won't be as hard as it use to be for them.
How Coach Dawkins was able to deliver such a great speech after such an emotional loss and emotional game! UCF left everything on the court until there was nothing left--tears justified. Powerful video.
Dude fuck off he payed this team a compliment they deserve. I’m a duke fan as well and I thought ucf had this game but duke got the lucky roll don’t be sour on a video like this
I thought a certain guard for UCF reminded me of another guard who played for Duke on their very good runner up team in 1986. Its really been 33 years since I watched coach play his last college game in Dallas.
Remember it like it was yesterday! I was 14 (8th grade at the time) and that team still resonates to me for what they did to Duke's program and their lasting impact! I started rooting for Duke in '81-'82 and as those few yrs followed I was still skeptical if they'd take that quantam leap! They did and then some that '85-'86 season! Even in falling to Louisville, I was beaming and was so proud of how far they'd come! Plus we'd lost to a class program at that time! Unlike the way Carolina and their fanbase have always acted and treated others! Tar Holes the most arrogant and hypocritical fans on the planet! ANYBODY BUT CAROLINA!!!!!
You know, we often forget that these are just kids. I don't blame them for the tears not one bit. They left it all out on the court and came within millimeters of upsetting arguably the best team in the country. These kids have nothing to be ashamed of and even though I'm not a fan of their school, I couldn't have been prouder of them. I was wishing I could have reached through the screen and hugged every one of them. These are the type of kids that make me want to get back into coaching.
Man, I'll be crying my damn ass off too if I got beaten like that...just a damn layup that players done million times, just a simple layup away from upsetting the Duke? I'll break down and cry like a baby right on the court. Respect to the players.
@Rob Williams They're still kids. Barely out of high school. This isn't an era where 16, 17, 18 year olds are forced to grow up so at heart they're still kids.
@Rob Williams only by law are they adults... if you have a kid/teen whose only 18-19, you aren't going to look at him and considering him a grown @** man regardless of what the law says. Regardless of the law, I've never really considered any of them grown until the age of 21. When they're actually old enough for everything (clubs, drinking, buy handgun) plenty of studies done on the brain that show and prove that they aren't as adult as the law labels them once they turn 18.
It was a great game and UCF should be extremely proud of themselves...that hurt hearing those young men cry..very few will ever reach that level of competition
As a tarheel fan JD was one of my favorite duke players in the mid 80s. This was a tough loss for these kids and he is showing these kid love as if he was their own father. How many father would do what he is doing for these kids. JD you were a stand up guy in the 80s and a stand up guy in 2019. Thank you JD for this powerful moment.
That is hard to watch. UCF players don't hang your heads. You outplayed the best team in college basketball and deserved to win. One of the best games I've ever seen. Thank you for that. I'm not a UCF fan but I wish you would have won.
I’m a UVA fan, but I also became a UCF fan after your incredible performance against Duke. This video makes me respect the coach and team even more. Hold your heads high!
wow.. it’s crazy seeing the emotion from these kids after such a stressful and hard fought year , hats off to the coach for speaking words of wisdom without beating around the bush . Carried himself really well
I remember back when I played high school/college basketball after a lost like this it’s so much emotions running threw your body but I promise it makes it so much better when you win after a heartbreak lost like this.
Mannnnnnnnnn this vid made me cry... crazy game watching it live.... Dawkins kid had the game of the year.... so close man........ best UCF team ever.. hats off bro
Hold your heads up high boys!!! The country is proud of your school!! Yall up and coming in ALL sports! Puttin everyone on notice with that talent yall got. Respect. ☝🏽✊🏽💪🏽👌🏽👍🏼🏀
These guys put their heart & soul into this thing. Class acts for sure, pray 4 the best for them in whatever they choose to do, if they put this much passion into it, they will succeed
Playing against the refs and still almost won. As much as the outcome sucks, these guys have made amazing memories and will be talking about one another for the rest of their lives. Much respect for Tacko Fall.
Being a Notre Dame basketball UCF played to win that basketball game and to see you lose by 1 against Duke reminded me how much it hurt after Notre Dame lost to Kentucky back in 2015 hold your heads up I’m praying the the UCF basketball coach won’t leave because you might be bringing in some more good basketball players congratulations on a season you’ll look back on later when the tears are gone.
They had to play the perfect game to do it and Duke had to miss a lot of Threes and that’s exactly what happened till the last shot rolled out. These guys played so hard and as a Duke Fan I have to say they deserved to win that game. With mass props and with a humbling whisper Go Duke! Cause These boys came to win not just to play!
Nothing better than the relationships you build with your teammates and coach. I played sports in college almost 10 years ago and I know if I called on anyone of those men they would be here for me immediately and I for them. Love this video.
Coach handled that sad moment like a true G. Those young guys will learn from that moment and let the pain help propel them in their endeavors moving forward. It'll also make their bond as a brotherhood tighter.
This video shows not only the GREAT DEDICATION, DESIRE and the hunger to win but also how good the team is coached. Just by listening the words of the coach, the University OF Central Florida should be proud to have a coach with the heart and dedication needed to bring tons of wins... They had the game but Duke did what it was needed to win by A HAIR... All the best for this UCF TEAM who left everything on the court.
What an amazing group of guys, lead by a Wonderful Man, Dad, and Coach. You Guys Represented!!! I remember Watching your coach play his heart out like you Men did. No boys in that locker room, just strong determined Men. Best of luck to all of you.
His game improved vastly this year. He would have been better if he didn't start playing so late in his life. He started playing basketball at the age of 16.
I felt 4 Tacko Chad n the rest of the UCF squad. I also felt that they should've made that tip in but all I can say is stay strong n keep y'all heads up
Johnny Dawkins is my all time favorite college basketball player. Still sucks that 86 team didn’t win the championship. I remember him and Tommy Amaker hugging in tears after losing to Louisville. That was sad to watch too.
Cincinnati fan here... all I want to know is why you’d give this a thumbs down? This UCF squad showed nothing but great character all year and gave Duke all they could handle in the tourney - and probably should’ve won. My guess is that whoever is giving this a “thumbs down” has never played sports in their life.. great season, guys.
The hardest part isn't just losing...its saying goodbye. All the relationships built coming to an end with nothing to show for it. All the hard work and nothing to show for it. I empathize with these gentlemen's pain for sure and they were SO close!
Good fight guys!!! Y'all won much more than the game....you won a million hearts all over the world!!! Can't wait to see Taco and Dawkins in the league.
I'm from a bb crazy state, this is tough to watch. UCF played the BEST GAME OF THE TOURNAMENT. FINAL 4 IS NEXT WEEKEND, NO GAME CAN TOP THE GAME UCF PLAYED!!! GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!!
Tacko fall said he rather be an engineer than a basketball player but from what i see after their loss he really love basketball more than anything else
Yo, this team actually earned every bit of respect they've been given, Johnny Dawkins took a perfunctory program and a guy people thought was a gimmick and took them further than UCF has ever gone, as Duke fan Dawkins already had my respect but now it's on a whole other level
What better man to hear words of encouragement. I don't like Duke to this day, but when Johnny Dawkins played for Duke they didnt have the notoriety that they have now. Johnny and the 1986 Blue Devils were upset by a young Louisville Cardinals team that were led by a Freshman center, Pervis Ellison. That was a heartbreaking loss for Duke. I'm sure Coach Dawkins fully understands what these young men are going through.
