It is time for the newest instalment in that beloved cinematic automotive RU-vid experience where we film practical cars that can be bought for less than £1,000 in a manner befitting of their inexpensive value! This may go horribly wrong...
This time, as we test a 2006 Honda Jazz Mark II 1.4 i-DSI Sport, we revisit the successes of the past, realise that the acceleration is not the fastest, operate some magic seats, film in a noisy layby and waffle on about very little of any importance at all. Nothing untoward, then...

Superbly designed cars, sir. I believe they even located the fuel tank under the front passenger seat to free up space to allow all the Jazz's flexible rear seat trickery. True to the stereotype, my elderly parents have owned a number of these over the years.
@lloydvehicleconsulting
@lloydvehicleconsulting Год назад
Yes, the fuel tank is very far forward in these. Nothing wrong with owning one of these whether you are 18 or 80, as far as I am concerned, some people won't buy anything without these Magic Seats!

Another excellent review Sir. I knew someone who had a couple of Honda Jazz's when I was growing up. Always liked the way this car was packaged.
@lloydvehicleconsulting

Yes, they seem to be extremely popular with their owners, who often just buy another one after they have finished with one! Very cleverly thought out...

That looks like a lovely example considering the miles it has clocked up. Surprised that this has the magic seats. I thought that function arrived on the 2008-15 model. Speaking of which: before I bought my Hyundai i10 2 years ago I very nearly bought a 2015 Jazz 1.3 in metallic brown. It was up for sale at my local Toyota dealership. Unfortunately, one of the other salesmen came up to me while I was sitting in the car to let me know that he had sold it. 😣 He didn't have a chance to remove the price from the windscreen as he and his colleagues were quite busy.

Yes, I have driven a couple of second generation Honda Jazzes. They are also pretty good, to be honest. The i20 is definitely a smaller car than those. The Magic Seats were around from the start of the Mark II from memory...

Actually, you can leave the head rest on, just use the shoulder seat lever on the front seat and move it forward. The head rest sits neatly under the front seat. It is pretty cool.

They have 8 spark plugs and they don't go very fast and yes they can rust . you never get a trouble with the timing chain at all . I think they drive like the Hyundai Getz .
@lloydvehicleconsulting
@lloydvehicleconsulting Год назад
Yes, we saw the rust on this one... It's not too much of a problem at the moment, though. had a Getz on the channel last year, actually. I think that these do drive a bit better than those.

Here in "Straya" they came with the 81 kilowatt 1.5L engine, and they sure as heck don't sell for £800. Problem is, someone let the cat out of the bag, and they sell for stupid money here now. That said, with the 1.5L engine, reved past the dash indicated redline, they come alive, but unless you take them past 6,200RPM you'de never know the secret they hide (in 1.5L)
@lloydvehicleconsulting
@lloydvehicleconsulting 15 дней назад
I would have preferred the 1.5 engine, I must say, as these are not very fast at all... I doubt that the 1.4 would have been very popular in Australia. Prices for good ones are rising for the Mark II Jazz, but you can still buy a tatty one for under £1000 with an MOT if you know where to look.

Cheers just bought a 2006 silver SE Sport today from the small independent garage / mechanic who services my car. I don't think you will find a good one (no CAT S/N) for less than £2k as you remarked. I wasn't aware of the CAT theft problem.
@lloydvehicleconsulting
@lloydvehicleconsulting 10 месяцев назад
Yes, it's been on an issue with the Mark II Jazz for a while, unfortunately... Sometimes, you can buy one of these which has not been written off with an MOT for less than £1,000, but it is getting less common now.

As you saw, sir, they must be out there, as one of the viewers just paid £800 for them. I do seem them for No Budget Reviews money quite frequently, but they don't tend to be in the Sport trim.

Great review. Personally never understand the "hard ride" comments. Seems absolutely fine over speed bumps and potholes ect. I personally try not to go too much over 3000rpm but if I do it copes fine..
@lloydvehicleconsulting
@lloydvehicleconsulting Год назад
Yes, even in this Sport trim, which is the worst case scenario for the ride unless you modify the car, the ride is absolutely fine. Certainly, many more modern cars have much firmer rides than this one.

3:46. Known problem. If you look at the top section of the tailgate frame you will see a join. Over time, this allows water in which flows down the frame into the boot well. Silicone or substitute is the fix. Funny how Honda with their reputation for engineering and quality control manage to slip up on silly things like this.
