i’m trying to take a more minimalist approach so i’m using up all the products i have before i buy anything new, as well as not buying clothes or shoes unless what i’ve got gets worn out or broken xx

Love a no buy month. We also love doing month long pantry challenges, where we only eat what’s in the fridge, freezer and pantry for a whole month and only allow $10 a week for bread milk and a couple of fresh veg. It’s crazy how much extra food we end up with over time.

I doing a big focus on money this month and talking to different money experts. So, I love that you are talking about this. I feel it's so important that more people talk about taking back control of their money.

Since lockdown we are spending more on food but have saved about £200 so far on fuel which is good. We have managed to save some of it and used a bit of it to buy some things for our 3 year old to try and keep him entertained at these times.

I'm using up all my perfume, shower gels, make-up and skincare during lockdown and it's made me realise how long it will take me to use it all! 😅xx

Great video Lara 😊 so interesting that a no buy year is easier! I agree. Can you make a video about your wedding budget? You mentioned it before and I think it would be so interesting 😊

I'd love it if you did a video about travelling on a budget! I'd love to see more of the world and travel but I always assumed that going to places like America would just cost so much but hearing you talk about how you've done it before is really inspiring! x

Great video Lara, so informative as usual :) we are a couple and our food shop has increased too. It seems more expensive because it's all done in one hit, rather than little shops here and there with canteen spends too! I'm WFH and other half is furloughed, once everything is back to normal I'm going see if we can save the extra 20% on top of what we are already saving xx

That was great. Please can you explain more about the ISA issue you mentioned and why they are perhaps now not useful. I’d also love to know more about Bonds. You should do a live with a financial expert! :)

Unless you already have a help to buy ISA open, you cannot get one. The scheme closed in November. There are now only lifetime ISAs. These did have a big penalty for closure, but that penalty has been reduced to just the government bonus during the current crisis. MSE has great info on this ISA scheme. Obviously you can still also save in normal cash or stock and shares ISAs, but the benefit of the cash ISA is only there if you earn more than the basic rate tax threshold or hold so much savings in other non ISA accounts that you have overshot the £1000 basic rate interest threshold as non ISA accounts currently pay slightly more interest. Stocks and shares are not advisable for short term investments, although the market is on the floor right now so actually longer term, it's a better time to invest. There's been research that if you check any 11 year investment period over 1900-2019, that is the minimum time of investment to guarantee gains on the stock market because of volatility. Sorry if any of that info is basic or already known to you, just trying to help. Also premium bonds are a game of chance. Lara seems relatively lucky with them. Again there is a probability calculator on the MSE site that will show you what you are likely or unlikely to win given the current prize rate. I have premium bonds, I generally win the same or a lot less than I could get in a cash investment but I like the opportunity to win as I don't gamble in other aspects of my life.

Hi Lara please can you do a video regarding the help to buy isa, I'd love that. Thank you x

To the best of my knowledge you could only get a help to buy isa until 30th of November 2019. They don't do them any more

How do you invests your money in bonds?
@rebeccahooley532
@rebeccahooley532 4 года назад
see what interest you get with your help to buy ISA. mine was 2.5% which was the best percent I could find, so even if you cant use it for help to buy purposes, it may be worth while keeping that £200 in a month.

Remember that these companies don't care about you or whether or not you can or cannot afford to spend money. They will be doing their best to get you to part with your money. Find a sense of satisfaction in closing down their website and essentially "walking away". You'll feel better for doing so. Remember, they don't give a damn about your personal circumstances.

Haha, maybe I should do a get to know me Q&A!! I worked in IT for 12 years up until I had my 2nd son and then the childcare costs for 2 in nursery were so high and more than I earned almost so I decided to not go back and focus on my RU-vid and blog and so now I do this full time :)

Abcd Effg Id love to be able to know more about this too. I’ve been reading mixed information on martins money and equally there are premium bonds and income bonds....they both feel the same to me! So confusing! 😂
