Thanks so much for this! Now I'm thinking about throwing the receiver in some of the awd drifters like my little 18th scale hoonicorn and that 1/18 wl drift truck.
@@RoadsideRC haven't even tried it! I wouldn't say any of them "drift" well. More like slide a little longer before losing traction. It was going to be a science experiment that may never come to fruition.
If you were to plug in a dedicated gyro, does the installed reciever with gyro turned off interefere at all. Thinking of purchasing but have a gyro, just want new rx/tx. Thank you
Hello! Works like a champ! Just turn off the receiver gyro and it passes through without an issue. I am actually using this controller on my Team Associated DC10 build right now.
How would you say it compares to the gyro that came with the RDS? I use the internal gyro from my rc6gs on a 3d printed RWD chassis and i feel like it drives better than my RDS ever has, which has confused me for quite a long time. Many people have told me the factory redcat gyro is meh, so i was looking for your opinion on them.
The factory RDS gyro is a solid performer - mid-level gyro. It is GREAT for a factory gyro, but certainly there are better ones on the market for an upgrade. This built-in gyro is NOT better. To get your RDS driving better, work on the front suspension alignment (I have a separate video on that, if you are interested). I have a RTR RDS with only a controller upgrade - and it hangs with most folks at our track.
@RoadsideRC I started following your videos about the RDS shortly before our local track closed so i never got around to doing your setup, I appreciate taking the time to reply! Love the work keep it up!
@@RoadsideRCnow that my car is so upgraded I notice my remote is tremendously holding me back. I have a sanwa m6 and the steering response is terrible. You have to steer the car more then you normally should because the delay from the remote
@@mattparker510 I would suggest trying to find someone near you and getting your hands on them personally. That will be the best way for you to determine it.
That is fairly common when setting something up like this. All of the different manufacturers orient things differently. That is why we have that feature!
If my old fly sky It4s ever dies, I'll definitely be grabbing one of these. I haven't seen many people mess with the telemetry options/displays. That was the only reason I bought a touch screen radio. I really prefer to have battery voltage and motor temperature live on my screen. Saved me a lot of $ when testing gearing my big offroad rigs and saves a long walk of low voltage shame 😂
As far as going from 14ms (analog) to 4ms (digital), the biggest thing I found with my Yokomo servo is that it recenters the wheels more accurately. Forna while I thiught it was just slop, but turns out it was mostly that it wasn't running digitally.
@k1ortia The Flysky Noble is REALLY nice. The user interface on this controller is slightly nicer, but the fit/finish and materials in the Noble are top-notch! I would lean towards the Noble.
