Good points I hadn't thought of on boosting. So now I am going to boost stuff still but now know I'm dumb, gee thanks a lot lol.... LOVE this amp by the way, it will be my next. Great series, pretty complete reviews..
This amp sounds amazing but at that price point I'm going to have to stick with my EVH 5150 III EL34. If I could afford this without hurting myself I would buy it though. The EVH Head and Cabs do everything I need them to, this is a luxury boutique type amp. I have some boutique pedals but I can't afford boutique Heads.
I think the Purple and Red channels can do anything from classic rock to metal. Van Halen is amazing on the Purple you have to use a boost to tighten the Green channel.

isn't the boost helping the guitar out instead of the amp? like for example you used the john browne guitar for tight sounds because that guitar has very high output and no low end and its already super tight therefore better for achieving tightness?

@Kate Wolf yeah I paid half as much for my guitar and that was a decade in the making treat. So in 2040 I'll probably be getting one. Though I am coming from the "I play music for my own pleasure and have to do a shit job to live" school.
Actually many great players use boosts for a reason. I hate super tight amps because then you can't shape the tone how you like. Watch any videos by Ola or Jarrod of Tone Wars. These gentlemen as well as plenty of others prefer to use a boost. I completely get the desire of some to use boosts. I have used plenty that don't need boosts but nothing wrong with using one. Keep in mind....it's only your opinion. There is no right or wrong. I prefer amps without boosts but love that some amps take and work with boosts well. My problem is that Revv amps just sound a little meh - run of the mill. Nothing stands out like amps that have great character. You are right, Revvs have great tone, I just don't fi d they inspire much. That said, the Red is great compared to the purple. Stop being such a snob dude and just enjoy what you like, but no need to put down others. No offense but just understand not everyone approaches amps as you do - we are all different. I laugh at guys who get all be t out of shape over boosts.
i played this amp in a shop here in germany and was not too impressed with it especially for that ridiculous price.. the koch supernova, randall 667 and engl special edition are much more superior in my opinion and experience
I haven't played it, that being said the features look great, but here for a more saturated channel I prefer something like a 5150. Haven't touched this so,.. who knows!
