Oh, it gets better. Apparently the Kaaba was built on a hillock that water would flow around, in between Mount Safa and Marwa. In Mecca, those two 'mountains' are about 20-30ft tall, and 450meters apart... and the Kaaba is on the flat space beside them. Now, Marwa is Arabic to Moriah, where the Temple Mount is in Jerusalem. And Safa means lookout or place of looking. And is the arabic of Scopis, which is just about 3km away from the Temple Mount, and there is a university on it now, if I recall. Muhammad apparently would run back and forth seven times between the two mountains, and passed through the valley between them. No valley in Mecca. But there is in Jerusalem. For anyone wondering where Petra fits into all this, the Hajj fits there too for some parts. The best we can say, at this point going off the Muslim sources, is that multiple accounts, myths, and legends and real pilgrim accounts were all rolled into one patchwork religion some 100-200 years after the founder of Islam lived and died.
