I'm not a master marksman by any means as just an ordinary civilian dude, but this drill serves as a really good way to kick someone's ass into realizing how bad their trigger press is. Dot Torture was the first thing that did that to me, but at distance you can't hide your mistakes. So far I'm getting 5-6 in with an iron-sighted Glock and I really need to do more to see if I can get better. Great self-eval drill

I just want everyone to know.. I am going to whisper that too myself next time I go to the range and slow fire practice. I don't even know if I'm "pushing" the way he is.. lol but i'm doing it! : ) WITH the expectation i will not miss...

Kind of encouraging to hear your little mantra when pushing out, I have to do similar with my precision rifle shooting. I'm stuck with a 10yd pistol range with no holster draws, I'll try a downscaled version and just mentally haze myself more to compensate.

When you brought up the idea of the No Fail Shot on one of the P&S shows it made a lot of sense to me. Don't think I've heard anyone else stress the idea. Nice drill to develop it.

That is awesome I have really struggled with the flinchies myself and I have found that a speaking something like that over over and over as I break the shot helps trick my brain!

I started doing this drill on all of my range visits and found I am seriously lacking at range with my sidearm. I’ve found that for some reason my first round out of the holster always has that horrible flinch pulling it down. For people struggling with this drill is it worth while to bring it in to the 15 then work out to the 25? Or does that defeat the purpose? Thanks for all your videos and knowledge. You’ve already given this young copper a lot more knowledge to work with.

Is that "push" you're repeatedly whispering to yourself as you pull the trigger?
@presscheckconsulting3449
@presscheckconsulting3449 6 лет назад
Yeah.... I will do a whole different video about how this drill for ME is all about trigger prep. If I'm not getting on that thing early and continuously, I will bust time because I end up camped out and I still have all kinds of take up to go..... That ends up being a recipe for a timing issue and preignition movement of the weapon.

I tried a variation of this drill today using 5 inch steel Circle and iron sights, incredibly difficult. 7 hits in the time standard. Thanks for the challenge!

Brap&Bang I tested it on 5 inch steel too. Very frustrating! The worst has beta testing it with a par time buzzer set on the pro-timer. That was just one giant mind fuck as if it wasn't stressful enough.

Correct me if I’m way out in left field, but based off of what comments I’ve heard you make, I would assume the same standards for time and accuracy would be in place for low light, no light, NVG, and one handed only shooting for this Drill.
@presscheckconsulting3449
@presscheckconsulting3449 6 лет назад
absolutely not. I'm not saying if you can't do this drill the world will end. There had to be a metric on the wall for your to test yourself and compare your performance with that of other shooters. Other aspects would require a different par time or scoring size. I get the PTS tremors sometimes (Ok, its too many white Monsters, tomato tomato) and I don't think I could hold the wobble zone strong hand or weakhand only even if I executed perfect fundamentals. So I would absolutely think that you should know how far away you can make a no fail shot weak hand only, and maybe anything beyond 10 feet is beyond your capability. I'm more concerned with people being self aware of their skillset than I am them mastering it. Step 2 is acceptance. If your shooting is camped out in step 1. denial than I can't even help you without an intervention.

Do you think achieving acceptable performance for this drill would be doable with a DA/SA gun? Or is this something you'd only pursue with a striker gat? Please keep up the content.
@presscheckconsulting3449
@presscheckconsulting3449 6 лет назад
I'm pretty sure that Noner and Ernest Langdon could both crush this drill with their CZ and Beretta respectively. There are freaks out there that can pick up any gun and work the trigger. Most of us, however, must MASTER the trigger we got. With enough practice, I believe that NY triggers on G-Locks or DAO pulls on a DAO or DA/SA gun are completely doable. With that being said, I think that MOST shooters take longer to master those triggers due to the tactile input that they provide the shooter increasing the chances that they are going to start managing recoil in their mind before the round is out of the barrel...... All aboard the shanks train, next stop, missville.

Manny Betancourt yes. When trying to make a no-fail shot, I generally hold the pistol with less than the death grip that I put on a gun during rapid fire.

Would down scaling this drill work? I only have access to a 10m range where I can draw from. Just use a 50% sized target? Somehow I feel the distance and knowing your gun is what makes this such a hard drill.

What adjustments must be made in this drill if using a 6-shot revolver? For example, are you given extra time to reload?
@presscheckconsulting3449

The drill is single round reps, so the par only pertains to breaking a shot from the draw, therefore reload whenever you feel like it.

Appreciate Chuck, but I don’t care how many times on a square range I manage to execute this drill (as if I could), I’m not seeing myself take a shot at a no fail 5” circle at 25 yards in a real life situation. Uh, unless I have to. 😖

@presscheckconsulting3449
@presscheckconsulting3449 6 лет назад
S Shepherd Yeah man... it would be ugly. I think I could hold time and the 8 ring with Dawson Fiber optics, but no way that I could keep them in the black with that par time. I would bust time refining my sight picture and shifting focal planes while taking forever to prep that trigger. Gunfights only have one division, Open division, with three classes 1. participant 2. spectator and 3. Victim, so I will not have the internet try and shame me as tacticool for seeing my point of aim. Fuck them......

You over the comps now chuck?
@presscheckconsulting3449
@presscheckconsulting3449 6 лет назад
Fuck no I'm not over comps. I'm currently not shooting either compact guns, or guns in a caliber larger than 9mm. In both cases, the gains in performance are worth the possible reduction in reliability using certain loads. Shooting a G17 or 34 comped that will take any trash can 9mm and cycle all the time with a decent ejection pattern that won't tumble back into your gun can be difficult without messing with recoil springs. I'm not about that life. I'm retired and I train professionals and enthusiasts alike on a flat range or in a shoot house. I can carry a range belt and a full-size blaster. I'm shooting the 17 right now because I don't have any 34's finished (two in various stages of build). I'm also goinng back to steel guns this year to screw around, so Im throwing a shadow II and 2 nighthawks into the mix. After I got my 34's built AND my steel gun shooting out of the way, I am going to do a G19X Roland Special. This will probably happen around the end of the year. I will then do an Overwatch/ATEI 34 VS Overwatch/ATEI G19X Roland to see first hand which is a better DUTY gun. Does smaller slide and comp beat longer slide and weight/mass. Previous comparisions were apples and oranges because the RS had less than a full size frame.
@warfighter11
@warfighter11 6 лет назад
@Presscheck Consulting... do you have a preference for the G34 over the G35 as a full size duty gun? In other words, any fotay love? My guess is you had access to both while active....
@presscheckconsulting3449
@presscheckconsulting3449 6 лет назад
B.A. Killerman 34 all day. I love the comped G22 because the gasses really help that comp keep the gun flat. My comped 22 shoots softer than my G34, but ain't nobody got time for that .40 life anymore.

Any solid C shooter or above could easily shoot this. This will say more about the accuracy and trigger of ones pistol than anything else. Now consistently shoot this 1 1/2 seconds or under and then I'll pay attention.
@darkcircle899
@darkcircle899 2 года назад
If you think that's true you are out of your mind. Most people who shoot could not easily shoot this. This is something that like 1-2% of people is going to be able to pass consistently. Many people who have a lot of experience and are very good shooters have failed this drill it's no joke. Give it a try yourself and you will see.
