Nice video! I think you should have first shown how to trouble shoot the coil. A lot of money is wasted on new coils and they are not needed. And a message to Echo. Either you stand behind your product or you don't. Having the consumer just threw hoops, like only covering if it's registered is saying to the consumer "we will cover your product but we will use any conceivable method to get out of it that we can" These company's want loyalty but they think they can pull this nonsense and we just won't notice it, like we are morons.

Thanks for the great instructions on the repair of my neighbors pb-250 blower. I had diagnosed the issue to the coil then followed your step by step instructions for a complete repair.

You are now my hero. Had this same Echo Blower sitting in my barn and could not figure out it’s issue. Ordered a new Shindaiwa/Echo coil and followed your video step by step. Now this blower starts on the 1st pull. I couldn’t be happier. Just take your time when putting the blower back together. Only tricky part for me was keeping the new plug wire out of the way for the throttle control when putting it back together. Sending your link to my friends and family!!!

I have an Echo ES-250. Would not even cough when I tried to start it. Old school wisdom is that the problem is either fuel or "fahr". Ruled out fuel. Ruled out bad spark plug. Searched a lot of RU-vid videos and found this one. Your instructional was SO WELL DONE! I purchased an ignition kit inexpensively, followed your directions, replaced the coil, and my blower started back up on the first pull. Thanks Chickanic!

Our blower just stopped after we were just using it. I saw your video, ordered the coil and replaced today. Once I got the wheel on tight...took a few tries, it worked like a charm. I didn’t find your video to remove old boot and spring, but found another video to do that part. Thank you!

I ordered the part you graciously provided the p/n for and I am anxious to review your video again as I go through my repair step by step. Thank you again for your help and great clarity with your explanation and review of the product repair. Looking forward to what else I can learn from your repair videos.

This video saved me $100. The blower stopped firing, so I took it to a shop. They said it needed an ignition coil and that it would cost $168, with labor. I new one is $169. So I didn't do that. I then found this video, and found an OEM coil on Amazon for $68. So this saved me $100. The only challenge I had was stopping the piston. So I made sure the piston was all the ways down, before I stuffed a bunch of rope in there. That worked. Thanks!

Awesome repair video. I replaced mine on my 5 yr old Echo and it’s back up and running. Saved me from buying a new one. Started on first pull as well. Only thing I didn’t see here is that echo calls for blue lock thread on that impeller bolt and to Torq it to 130-140 Lbs. Found that on a separate video and I followed that as well. Also installing the boot head on the new coil was simple as well. I just swapped it from the original.

Thanks Chickanic for a great video as always. Another video shows the fan hub (holds flywheel in place) being put on finger tight with one drop of blue Loctite. Then it shows the fan being installed with one drop of Loctite on the bolt, making sure the washer is oriented correctly, then torqued to 130-140 inch/lbs and recommends waiting 24 hrs for the Loctite to fully cure. I imagine a lot of shops omit the Loctite as unnecessary overkill, but I use it as recommended by Echo.

I just wanted to comment of my successful installation of a Echo magneto or coil as some people say, I followed your instructions a step at a time with my cellphone, pausing it as I went along, My blower didn't start-up as quick as your's did, BUT IT DID COME BACK TO LIFE AS THE GAS FILLED THE LINES. Great video! I swapped the coil but still have no spark. How do you test a coil to see if it's bad? Does it have a certain resistance across it or is there some other way to do a quick test? UPDATE: It turns out I received a bad coil (dead on arrival). I got another replacement and now everything works. BTW, the quick way to test the coil and check for spark is to remove the spark plug from the engine, attach it to the coil wire, hold the threads of the spark plug against the engine, and give the starter cable a pull. You should see sparks jump the gap in the plug. If you don't see sparks, the coil is bad.

Thank you for the great tutorial. I've looked at several write-ups on PB250LNs on youtube and they all match up with yours to set the Mag gap with a business card. My blower is a 2015, and it has a raised key cast into the flywheel. If I set the gap with a card, the key will strike the coil. I set the gap by rotating the mag to align the key with the coil and setting the gap to barely clear on rotation. Engine starts and runs great.

I''m so embarrassed, a dumb ol' girl showing me how to fix my Echo. Boy am I behind in the times. 69 yrs.old and I still don't know everything. Great job of instruction. I bought 2 at the same time. Good thing. Echo makes a residential and a commercial version. Home Depot displays the Commercial but only sells the Residential model. I discovered why the price was so low, only after buying 2, but they still are the best blowers out there. Thanks again for the excellent instruction. I'm retired now or else I'd buy a new one and save this one for parts.

This is my hand held blower ES 250 blower\shredder , it won't start. replaced the carb. Checked the screen, replaced the pulley I think the spring end was bent. Checked the piston looks good. I can pull the cord but it's jerky, when I have the spark plug out it pulls easier like butter. Just ordered a spark tester, new spark plug but cant see it with my old eyes..Heard a rattle when I could pull the cord, about 4 inches stop then pull it another 4 inches and so on..Checked the fly wheel the key is missing hoping this is it. Will test the spark plug tomorrow. But with all this said I couldn't have done it without your tutorials. THANKS , your my hero...Have a great day! I kind of enjoy tinkering..My next hobby.

I just ripped my pb250ln apart and changed the carburetor, thought that was my issue....come to find out there's no spark!!🤨, now I'm gonna go get that ignition coil and hopefully that's gonna solve my problem. I really liked my little echo, been trying to fix it for the past 4 months, here and there when I have time. I have a landscaping business I just started and this blower was monumental during my first season. I'm going to fix it, but I'm also going to just go ahead and get myself a nice battery system blower since some of our local boroughs are changing the laws on gas powered lawn equipment and I'll have to go battery anyway in certain areas.

Very good video. I had a unusual problem with my blower. I had no spark and I isolated the problem to the coil. I installed a replacement coil and still no spark. I then decreased the clearance from the coil to the flywheel and there was a slight spark but not enough to start the engine. I then increased the clearance and I had a very strong spark despite the clearance being double what the specs call for. I've never encountered this before.

If you reference Echo’s service doc on this particular repair it shows the critical importance of taking care when working with the fan hub and flywheel. I do see you have the updated flywheel but I would recommend if a home owner is doing this themselves that they remove the fan and leave the fan hub nut on the flywheel that way it minimizes the chances of the person stripping out the flywheel key or getting it out of proper timing. Those fan hub nuts need to be tightened properly to avoid problems in the future and the service bulletin also says to use red lock tite when reinstalling the fan hub nut. Also you want to remove the recoil assembly to avoid putting excessive pressure on the starter when removing/ installing the fan.

Thank you so much for the video. Is there a way to determine - ahead of time - if it's the coil or the ignition switch? I've replaced carburetor, filters, spark plug, etc. and put in new fuel but don't see the spark plug making any spark, so I think it's either the coil or the ignition switch.

You are an amazing woman and I enjoy your videos. Would like to respectfully give you some sound advice. Please stop using your hand as a hammer loosening bolts screws, whatever. I'm an old retired tool maker and was given that advice when I was twenty years old and didn't listen. Not all of the damage is from banging on things with my hand but it's a big part of it. The only cure now is having bones fused together in my right hand and wrist. Take care of your hands, sweetheart. And keep making great videos.

I was looking for a lightweight blower for my deck. ru-vid.comUgkxgioZQl3J5wPGAeDINzbieKbT5qomSEx3 There are some huge trees around my house and the leaves and pods drop all over my deck. Having to move furniture around to sweep has become too big a chore. This blower was the answer. It is light enough for this 70yr old lady and powerful enough to blow all the tree droppings off my rather large deck. Thank you B&D. Be aware the cord is not included. I use a 3 prong outdoor cord 25' cord for my 12' x 20' deck. The cord retainer works very well, but don't try to pass the plug through it. That is NOT how it works. You just have to loop the cord and it works great. One of my best purchases. Very happy.

QUESTION - I have same ECHO BLOWER new from dealer (4 hours away unfortunately). Since day one the engine will not rev up to peak unless I run it hard for about 7 minutes? Is this typical or maybe a safety feature built in to blower? I have 2 Echo products and love them but each has a quirk. Blower won't rev up and a new 501P saw that leaks bar oil like the Titanic! Really getting into your videos, thank you.
