Kia ora! I've just started on my reo māori journey and am loving it! It's such a beautiful language! I have one pātai and i only ask because it's something I've just learnt and is fresh in my mind. I've noticed in this video when you say 'te' you say it like a wet T when I've been taught that any word with Ta ...Te or To should almost sound like a D sound and Ti and Tu are the 'wet' sounding T's. Sorry that was so hard to ask in question form, hope that makes sense!? Really enjoying your videos! I especially loved the whakatauki one! Mauri ora.
Mòrena e hoa great pātai. So I can only really answer this from my own personal experience. My journey has been alongside Te Wānanga O Aotearoa and over the years I've had some incredible teachers and mentors. I'm still hovering around the level 4, level 4.5 kind of area and during these years I have never heard about the wet sounding T's that you have mentioned. So I'm only really mirroring what I hear from my kaiako, Māori tv, class mates etc. However what I have learned is that there is nearly always more than one way to learn something, more than one rule for the same thing, etc so you are most likely correct and this could be something I'm taught in the years ahead. You've got me interested now so be sure to get back in touch with me if you find out more. Kia ora e hoa, love the pàtai.
