The modern "technical correct verbiage" would read "jowgen is the only card in yugioh that requires a random discard for cost" Or alternatively "jowgen is one of 3 cards in yugioh to include the word random as part of its cost" with the other2 of course being extrav and fire sorcerer
I feel like spellbooks would be a super interesting deck with some new support and some number of judgement back, so long as they banned Jowgen and a couple of other problematic spellcasters. Hoping for some new support though, prophecy is one of the only themes from the original structure deck poll not to have gotten support yet, so I hope something is in the works for them

@@nikraa77 Yep. Just IMAGINE lmao... Obviously Knowledge felt like a small band-aid fix after that card had to be banned. (Although it was a genetically good spellcaster draw engine too)
Personal dont like the crescent. dogmatika eccelsia, punishment with titanilkad and omega create a loop where you can always punishment everyturn. magician souls and fleur is i think is good as you go into linkuriboh for extra defense or can even normal summon fleur if you got crowley
Well u can still using high priestess, and some random lv 1 spellcaster (magicians' soul and jester) for more speed of the deck it self,, there's also spellbook organization that can help this deck
@@Lithium2300 you dont need that, just destroy the star hall or even if u dont get souls, u still has bunch of draw, search... even has 2 ss (jester confit and infus)
I'm suprised there isn't any Spellbook Runick/Spellbook Spright variant in the OCG yet, considering their synergy with spell cards/instant normal summon level 2 in Blue Boy. Judgement also was unbanned very long ago in the OCG as well but i didn't see it anywhere.
Well you can't play them with spright since jowgen is a 3, and is your only wincon, the spellbook cards all require spellcasters too And runick isn't really playable outside of a spright+mine build so
I think in the TCG is gonna be a lot different. Garura makes Nadir Servant/Dogmatika a potent engine + also availability for super poly, etc. Maybe even the Runick Engine can make this too powerful as well, only time will tell but yeah… this is scary.
If we only get 1 jugment then i say its fine, card is already powercrept by almost every 2020+ engine spell 3 jugment is probably too much in terms of consistency but its not like spellbooks can even go second anyways (and jugment is also powercrept) :P
@@qwerte6948 the spellbook archetype has been powercrept; judgement hasnt, and thank god for that. its one of, if not the silliest gas cards that's ever been printed
@@reisen9584 hands which don't resolve judgment don't do anything, and with the card at 1 even seeing it all the time can be an issue You also need to have access to fate after resolving judgment, which requires you to hard draw some stuff
This is like one of the few blind spots I have in Yugioh. I’ve drifted in and out of the game throughout the years but Ive at least gone back and familiarized myself with pretty much every relevant deck. This is almost literally the only one that I just could never be bothered to look at.
@@Lithium2300 The only handtrap I'd run is Maxx C or Ash at the moment, I don't feel like much else is impactful right now. I feel maybe a draw heavy variant with maybe even the Striker engine could benefit this a lot
