As part of my BJJ seminar experiences I like to offer more than just a technique demonstration and then leave.
So during my time in Florida. Sonny and I setup a seminar experience that lasted 2 days.
This video is a Vlog showing some parts of Day 1.
Day 1 which is shown in this video consisted of a big open rolling session followed by Q&A.
Then on day 2 we did a Brazilian Jiu-jitsu seminar with techniques and all that normal stuff. Following the seminar we had a dinner together. It was a great time.
In this video you'll see some of the rolling with all the people at Gracie Bradenton.
Everyone on the mats was incredibly nice and welcoming. I had a great time getting some BJJ training in with them and then hanging out afterwards.
If you're ever in the area. Check out Sonny's gym at
graciebradento...
I hope you enjoy seeing some additional Chewjitsu rolling videos. :)

Hey man I've been training for almost 10 years now I must say that your training methodology is both inspiring and technically useful to everyone. I see your sparring in these sessions is not ego driven and is instead done with an inquisitive and playful mindset. Given the longevity the Jiu Jitsu practitioner must face in order to grow to their maximum potential this type of practice will certainly allow their body to stand the test of time. Thanks!

I’ve played rugby league all my life and had to stop playing because of a string of bad injuries. After watching your vids it’s made me miss the grapple and make the leap back into contact sport, went to my first training session last night and loved it. Cheers pal

this is really dope Chewy. i'm an avid bjj player and only recently stumbled upon your channel, and this was the first time i've seen you rolling with several diff students of various skill levels in one vid. watching you roll is kinda hypnotic bc we seem to have a very similar style. anyhow, keep up the good work, keep it playful and have fun!

Hi Wade, my name is Werther. I'm the beginners instructor at Gracie Bradenton. I'm actually in the video at 12:44. I started training with Sonny a little over 3 years ago and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Come try out a free class! @@mezzuna It's called a shallow underhook escape. Make sure your elbow on the underhook is just slightly above your opponent's elbow. Your other hand should be framing on the inside of their other arm. When you're ready to hit the escape, flare the underhook out to the side, bridge your hips into your opponent and then quickly base up into turtle. Takes practice but it's my favorite bottom side control escape

Question...do you need equal amounts of both technique and athleticism to be successful in sport jiujitsu? Or does technique outweigh athleticism by a large %?
@michaellee6713
@michaellee6713 5 лет назад
From my opinion, technique will win almost 100% of the time. But athleticism definetly help out with movement and scrambling, both matter to an extent but technique will usually outweigh athleticism
@yesete777
@yesete777 5 лет назад
Athleticism and size usually just breaks a stalemate between people of similar skill
