Yoji, the new apprentice, wants to get his head tattooed by Garver. Ami isn't having it. For more tattoo clips from NY Ink, London Ink, Miami Ink and LA Ink, just head to: / ink Subscribe to ink | www.youtube.com...
Tyler Cox Honestly. I kinda respect it. I agree, it brings a certain amount of class to the shop. and he's gotta run a tv show on top of it all so a lot to manage for him. I've got probly 15% of my body covered in ink, but I've never seen this show until this clip, so I'm not sure how everyone acts or the shop is run, just my 2 cents
Listen to what he says, he has a point. It doesn't matter if you want to be some kind of rebel and "not give a shit what people think" because you still have to live in a world full of people and even a lot of more openminded people are going to think less of you if you tattoo your head or face because it's not a good look. It's low class as fuck.
compare a business suite to a biker in his cut offs and patches. a lot of people get tattoos to look cool and bad ass, and when they are asked to to bad assery u hear them say: i cant , im gonna scratch my tattoo, i paid to much for that! clothes make the man, simple psychology. same reason why some people weare their pants bellow their asses... to look gangsta. sooo .. joke´s on you.
I can understand having an issue with neck tattoos more than a head tattoo, i mean hair can easily grow over it if it's on the scalp, Yoji has a pretty good head of hair, doesn't look like he's going bald any time soon
The childish mentality is really what made Ami often seem like a complete jerk. I see what he's saying, but come on, it's Yoji's head, and if Ami really thought it would intimidate customers he could have just told him to wear a fucking hat.
Am I the only one who thought it was responsible of Ami to be strict about not allowing head tattoos? Any serious tattoo shop DO NOT tattoo heads and should also talk people out of bad ideas. Cred to Ami for sticking to his point of view despite the staffs reaction.
+biffson jr i cant find it on youtube atm, but if you search up "joyce sherman miami ink" (or something similar) you will find a woman with a butterfly tattoed at the back of her head. Who did this? Oh thats right... Ami did!
I can understand where Ami is coming from he doesn't want the negative repercussions for his friend/ employee or the shop because people are still gonna judge him based on the fact he has a head tattoo, as we all know most people are very judgemental of people with certain tattoo styles and symbols and yes he's a grown man but it's work coming from Ami's shop and one of his tattoo artists.
I think Ami was just looking out for his friends future and how people would perceive him, didn't want his friend to make a mistake. Everyone knows he loves him and may seem a it controlling cause he's being protective of his friend.
The whole issue started when Yoji felt that he had to tell Ami what he was going to do and looking for that "hey that sounds cool" okay from him. Adults don't go around asking for permission. People like Ami try to make it seem like they are helping you out with good advice and "I've been there man" stories but he just saw that moment of weakness and pounced to get that power rush.
some of my favorite tattoos are on my head. The best part of it is you can grow your hair out and never see them again if you dont want. Its only taboo if you let it be.
If I, God forbid, lost all of my hair to cancer or alopecia or some freak accident, I would totally get a head tattoo to fill the void until it grew back. Nothing huge or ugly like. A flower or something. But no, I agree with Ami that head tattoos create way more stigma than they're really worth. It just limits your options in life, and Ami doesn't want to be responsible for holding someone back like that. A tattoo artist has the right to deny a tattoo to anybody for any reason, and I totally get this one.
He was being a jerk and hypocritical but I think that he likes Yoji and sees him as a person he is responsible for. I think he's just trying to protect him because he thinks a head tattoo is extreme and he's hiding that by saying that it would freak out customers. This just seems like misguided affection.
I never really followed the show lol but I hate when other people try to force their believes on others. He doesn't like a type of tattoo what does that have to do with the other guy. A ton of people don't believe in tattoos period and would love to force him to not tattoo period.
Aleksandr Sheyman it matters because he owns the shop and pays his employees if he doesn't want his employee to have a head tat he can't get one. If he wants it bad enough he should get a new fuckin job thats life
If you can’t see where Ami is coming from having concern for a friend, then you need to know Yoji ended up actually not working as a tattoo artist after this. I know Yoji’s already covered in tatts but I can kinda understand why Ami was behaving like a dad or older bro of some sort, he doesn’t want him regretting or jeopardising his future career, at this point he was only an apprentice not even a certified tatoo artist. On a side note, R.I.P Yoji.
One of my favorite comedic moments from any reality show cuz you can tell this was genuinely one of those rare unscripted moments. “WAIT UP BIFF, HERE WE GO” 😂
Well im tattooing my side of the head monday if not later on that week. Yeah i am thinking about the ups and downs of it. But really its all what i want for myself. Tattoos or not, we all get judged by people anyways. I mean its not illegal to get tattoos especially on the head where hair can grow. Im not hurting anybody getting a tattoo on my head. All i got to say about a tattoo is just watch what you put on you as a tattoo. Anything offensive to other race or religions or gang related to me is a no no ! My tattoo on the side of my head will say Lord Forgive Me For My Ways.
I understand the business aspect of keeping clean above the neck. It's more professional. However if he wants a tattoo on his head that bad then he can find a job somewhere else with the same pay grade. As a viewer I don't really care what happens though haha they're hundreds of miles from me.
It's understandable, but there are lots of people that learns their lessons the hard way, maybe Ami went hard on Yoji because he cares about Yoji's future, which I completely agree, what if he decides to do something instead of a tattoo artist, maybe he probably saw people with head tattoos, and he wants to fit in as well!!!!
intimidating are you kinding you could have every inch of your body tattoo and its not intimidating its freakin art on your body and some how that makes you tough lmao
"If you get a tattoo on your head i will fire you" That is a form of blackmailing, which i believe is illegal? and still W T F, Ami's body is covered in tattoo's, and because of his opinion on head tattoo's, he forbids yoji to have one? Seriously, wtf. and go Darren xD
I have a tattoo on the side of my neck. I still get jobs. I just present myself with a positive attitude when I have interviews and I have the work ethic to go along with it. Times have changed people look past tattoos more now. And outside of work who cares what the general public thinks. As long as your still successful and aren't hurting anyone who gives a damn what you choose to do to your own body.
it's funny how the other dudes are like yeah go for it , we got your back , but the bald guy is probably the only one caring for his future , a giant head tattoo is def something you will regret later in life.
there's a chance you will regret every tattoo. not just the head. what a dumb statement. i have tattoos on my head and i dont regret them. worst comes to the worst i'll grow my hair again....what's the big deal. face tattoo..now that's a different story.
It's a business. Tattoos are generally accepted in today's society but face tattoos are a big step up and can be intimidating to a lot of people. If you ran a tattoo parlor you wouldn't want to drive away customers by having all of your staff covered in face tattoos.
I got tatoos on the sides of my heads and on the top when I was younger. back then I enjoyed the attention it brought. now I hate it! the sucky part of the whole thing is that I love shaving my head. but when it comes to employment its kind of a pain in the ass because I usually have to grow my hair out. people can call it discrimination, blah blah, but to be really honest no one will hire you with tattoos on your head. And it brings a lil harassment from the boys in blue. Especially if you're Hispanic which I am.
I find Ami being quite ironic seeing as I think there was an episode of Miami Ink where he tattooed a women's head (unless that somehow didn't count, because the women had a history and story behind the tattoo).
i think he has a point. as a business owner with people who can come in not entirely knowing what they want, having people with a tattoo in a place that might seem cool now, he doesn't want customers influenced to do it and regret it later... i don't know if that's his opinion, but that would be my stand if i were in his shoes
My aunt was on that show. She got a tattoo of a butterfly on her head because she has a disease where she lost all her hair. So what? A tattoo on the head is fine as long as the person wants it.
I completely agree with you there. But Yoji wants to be a tattoo artist and wants to be the best. You work in a corporate environment where you need to cover it up, yoji works in a tattoo shop where anything goes with appearance, if he wants a head tattoo - let him get one. Customers will appreciate his artwork. He should have used words more intelligently and gave logical reasons on why not to get one, instead of insults... that's what kind of world we live in. Sad
It's pretty obvious this Yoji kid doesn't understand how severely a tattoo on his head is going to limit his professional and social options, so I think it's not only reasonable but also necessary for the tattoo artist to refuse such a thing until the customer is mature enough to really know what he's asking for.
When I was last in my local studio there was a sign that said they wouldn't do neck hand or head tattoos, and ami's right, that does intimidate people and could effect his business
A fake friend would say yes go get youre head tattood then feel good about the mistake you've just made afterwards no matter how much he/she says it looks awesome to you. Ami is genuine and speak the truth. Art is art but you need to recognise that you are still part of a working class, conservative society. Tatts are chilled. I love face tatts like crazy but at the end of the day you gotta think. There's no glory when youre broke and struggling to find work cause of your face/head tatt
A lot of people are calling a Ami a dick but I think he was just looking out for Yoji. I rather have someone tell me I'm about to make a mistake and they think it's a bad idea rather than tell me it's a good idea and go along with it. Maybe Ami could have said it in a better way though.
LOL do you guys not get it? What it's not about who's cool with people having face tattoos or not, this is about CUSTOMERS and what some of them may think.
