I love your reviews and these batteries and other component reviews are much more helpful to those with an off grid setup than the flashy and expensive power stations.

I picked up a Redodo low temp protection 100ah for 199 on sale. It's on sale right now for 215. Redodo has been around for a while. I'll pick Redodo over Siekon. They sure look similar 😂 the same guy in China probably makes both and more.

Redodo formerly known as Zooms is made by the Enjoybot company. They make Ampere Time, Chins, Enjoybot, and the Redodo brands. So it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't make the battery in this video.

Thanks, always on the lookout for a 'good' cheap LiFePO4 battery.

Good revue and testing, also it is encouraging to see a more affordable battery in this class.

Did they give you the battery for review? It's not even close to the cheapest 12 100Ah LiFePO4. There are a number by Feence, Elefast, Lisuateli, etc. that have the same specs but also include Bluetooth for less. Last one I purchased was a Lisuateli and got it for $185 to my door. Same companies have even cheaper versions without the Bluetooth.

1.2 kWh for $200 bucks! How come these are so much cheaper than similarly rated portable power stations? I guess all the extra features make them more than triple the price?
@Sylvan_dB
@Sylvan_dB Месяц назад
I wish these companies would try to distinguish themselves on something more than price. For example, greater capacity in the standard size, or the standard capacity in a smaller size would be something more than price alone. Including a major feature at a cheap price... the low temperature protection is maybe an attempt at that, but I consider it a minor feature at best as the only change to the battery is a 10cent temperature sensor and a bit of code to trigger the normal BMS charge protection. For just price, Fly Power might be cheaper. Not sure if it has the low temperature protection.

Looks like a very good product, for that price, but (when they're available) the HQST 100ah battery is a significantly better value. HQST is manufactured by the same parent company as Renogy. When they aren't sold out, they go for $190 if you get a single battery, or as low as $185 if you buy an 8-pack of them (200ah @ 48v). At the 8-pack price of $1,480, you're getting twice as many watt-hours for just a little bit more than you would pay for a single, 48v, 100ah, server-rack battery.

Hi there. Thanks for this video. I know nothing about this topic, but I spend a lot of my time in a powerchair that has two 55 Ah batteries, at 24V. They are lead acid or gel batts. Do you happen to know if they could be replaced with batteries of higher Ah to get more time and/or distance out of a charge? Would one need to use a special type of charger for these? I don't know how they come up with 14 miles on a charge. I only get 1/10 of that with brand new batts. Thanks.
@ReeWrayOutdoors
@ReeWrayOutdoors Месяц назад
You'd want to know if the 2 batteries are connected in series (2 x 24V = 55Ah @ 48V system), or in parallel (2 x 55Ah = 110Ah @ 24V) to ensure you match the system voltage correctly. But generally, yes - you should be able to find LFP batteries of a higher Ah rating and that should net you more distance on a single charge. Typically with Gel and SLA, you're not able to use the full rated Ah capacity anyway since they often limit you to between 50-75% discharge to protect the battery. So technically, even if you found an equivalent Ah capacity in LFP chemistry, you'd get more usable capacity/range just on the chemistry change alone.

@bobtedeman5975 Месяц назад
@@ReeWrayOutdoors Thank you for your reply. I misspoke though. They are 12V 55ah batts in series to get a total of 24V. Would batteries of higher amps still be able to use the same charger? Would it just take longer to charge?
@shaneclinger5888

I have the same setup as you do as I'm newly paralyzed. I also have a good solar setup on my rv. A good charger is the victron 30 amp charger which you can control the charge rate with your phone once you get your lithium batteries set up
@Sylvan_dB
@Sylvan_dB Месяц назад
@@bobtedeman5975 Yes, greater amp-hour capacity means longer to charge. Do note, however, that a charger for lead acid chemistry may not fully charge the LiFePO4 chemistry. LiFePO4 would like to be charged to at least 14.2v and no more than 14.6v (double that for a 24v system). If your charger only reaches 14.0v it might reach full charge, but will take a very long time. One very nice thing about LiFePO4 chemistry, is unlike lead the battery will not be damaged if it is used at low states of charge and/or if it is never fully charged. One not so nice thing about LiFePO4 - if you overload lead the voltage will drop but it will keep supplying power. With LiFePO4 the battery has a built-in battery management system (BMS) to protect and monitor the individual cells in the battery. This BMS will prevent overloading the battery by shutting off the output after a short time. I don't know about the demands of your powerchair. Does it have a main battery fuse? If so, a battery rated to provide at least as much as that fuse should, I expect, work fine for you. (My experience is with computer UPS systems. They might use a pair of 12v lead batteries in series with 7ah, 9ah, or 12ah. LiFePO4 will usually fail to provide enough power for the UPS to support its rated load because LiFePO4 cannot be overloaded like lead.) In your 24v application, I think you would be most happy if you use a 24v battery instead of two 12v in series. A single battery has a single BMS built in to coordinate all 8 cells. Two in series will always be at a disadvantage.

?? Two inverters hook up to that one battery hooked up to loads?? So it can be done 2 inverters to one batt system
@ReeWrayOutdoors
@ReeWrayOutdoors Месяц назад
absolutely. You just want to take into account the battery's (or battery system) max rated continuous discharge rate, which is limited by the BMS. If you regularly exceed that, you'll experience disconnects as the BMS turns-off discharge to protect the battery internals.

Don't waste your time trying to buy this battery. You won't find it at the link that he provided or at the the store link provided on Amazon. Both with just take you to a 12 volt, 5, 7, or 12 AH battery listing. This appears to be a scam battery that the company is handing out to reviewers in exchange for a favorable review. This is 14 days after this review was posted.
@ReeWrayOutdoors
@ReeWrayOutdoors Месяц назад
@mrhalfstep I double check the link n but definitely not a scam. They're probably out of stock at the moment and sometimes these Amazon links revert to a general landing page for their store when that happens. But thanks for letting me know so I can look into it.

Are you able to perform a review of DAKOTA LITHIUM® LIFEPO4 BATTERIES? I should like to convert to those batteries. I would like to know if they manufacture an Engine Starting battery and house batteries to power all the lights, pumps, TVS, etc for my motor coach. They’ll be installed into a 2019 THOR® MOTOR COACH QUANTUM RS26 … Thank you •
