Adding Inputs to a No Input Patch, is a pretty cool idea.

wow. this game is incredible! i've never seen such depth with no input mixing in terms of your very generous processing descriptions and in-game footage. Thank you!

I really like the explorative properties of the sound. Chaotic and alien. However I can see its hard to control what exactly you want to hear. But I noticed a few interesting dynamics in how the mixers feedback reacts dynamically to the inputs. Like sidechain compression, this could add very cool rhythmic effects on a drum track. I might experiment with that.

this is wonderful! happy to see someone doing the feedback mixing technique with a bit from the external inputs. i did this recently and it gave lots of extra textures to some melodies. followed on Instagram and listening to your Bandcamp albums now.

Yes totally! It's like tapping into this river of feedback that gets all the inputs wet with it. I wanna check out your stuff too!!

software can do no-input too! it is more accessible if you have any daw, you can play with effects and all that. hardware is welcome too

I think I know why you’re saying…. But maybe you could explain a few steps of what you’re talking about?
@yy6u
@yy6u Год назад
your daw has to have mixer routing abilities, then you can use a send or similar to create a feedback loop, or you can use a plugin that has a feedback option

oh helllllll yah i haven't tried it in an actual DAW but that's awesome!! we love accessibility

I'm currently experimenting with that technique in game sound design context as well 😊 Good stuff. I gotta try using mic and contact mic as well!
@maredjurphy
@maredjurphy Год назад
Yessss dude contact mics changed my whole life lol. At home, I have a whole drum kit with contact mics affixed to most of the pieces! You can also attach them to any object and unlock some amazing sounds.

Is it possible to run the vocal mic (dry) alongside the feedback, with both going out the main outs?

Ohh cool, somone else running samples through their feedback loops. I do this with cassettes via a circuit bent cassete player. Tape loops n feedback loops are friends.

How is this "no input" mixing when the first thing you do is provide an input from your phone and then route a contact mic into it?
@maredjurphy
@maredjurphy Месяц назад
The technique of "no input mixing" refers to routing the inputs of a mixer into the outputs, which I showed here! That creates a feedback loop because you are patching the mixer into itself. You can use that feedback loop alone as a means for generating sound (which I, and many other people, have done), or you can use that feedback loop to modify any other signals you want to route into the same mixer. So, I'm just using a modified version of that technique in this video. Some of the other comments here go into that question too, but let me know if you still have any other questions about it.

hi! I was wondering, since you’re using the mixer with a DAW, do I need an external audio interface? Cause it doesn’t seems like you have the xenyx connected to one! Also, are you using regular 6,3 jack-to-jack cables?
@maredjurphy
@maredjurphy Год назад
Hey, thanks for the questions! It's not in the frame for a lot of the video, but yeah, the mixer is going into my Scarlett 2i2. However, there are some mixers that have USB capability, so I believe you can go right into a DAW without using an interface if you have one of those ones. Yep, so those cables are just regular short 1/4" cables, with the only adapter being the one going to my phone. You can buy nice little packs with a bunch of colored ones about a foot long each, but you can also use just any patch cables you have at first.

what are you using to pick up the sound coming from the phone?
@maredjurphy
@maredjurphy 8 месяцев назад
It's just a 3.55mm cable going into my phone and then it has a 1/4" adapter so it can go into one of the mixer's inputs!

@johnsmodularjams2123
@johnsmodularjams2123 10 месяцев назад
I think his point is that you are sending signals to the inputs, the microphones and your phone, so this is more like "some inputs mixing" 🙂
@maredjurphy
@maredjurphy 10 месяцев назад
@@johnsmodularjams2123 lol yah technically that's right. Anyway, no-input mixing isn't even "no-input" in the technical sense anyway hahaha

@jamesmcshane7855

@@rhinoskin7550 true no input mixing is when you are only feeding back the electrical noise from the output back into the input. Weird and wonderful things ensue!
