I never use cling film to cover a bowl anymore, Instead I use an unused shower cap which can be used time and time again, Saves on plastic waste.

An instant hit with my family!! We tried it this morning for Sunday breakfast, and we'll have it on fast rotation from now on. I did try a successful shortcut: I split the batter into 2 ovenproof bowls, covered with cling film, set them on a baking sheet & put into a 50C oven for 30 minutes. Worked a charm!! I got 16 out of the batch.

I’ve made crumpets before but not with yeast. I think for the rings I used mason jar lids, which are a nice alternative to the rings

I'm sitting here thinking I have to order the rings before I can make the crumpets (We call them English Muffins here in the US, lol) and right on my kitchen island is a couple of canning rings from my canning project yesterday. LOL. Ok so she just explained the difference between English muffins and crumpets. Good to know.

@@Inkdraft Yeah, English Muffins and Crumpets have a different texture from each other, too. Crumpets could be called similar to English Muffin batter mixed with pancake batter. :)

Thank you so much for doing this! I remember a few months ago when I was wanting a good crumpet recipe from one of my favourite cooks, and here it is. I've made crumpets a few times, but as always I can't wait to try your recipe and way of doing things. Your way always works, and I almost always end up learning something valuable for my cooking. Thank you so much for taking the time to do a crumpet instructional. They're so delicious, but they're so hard to find outside of Ireland, the UK, and some of Europe, especially freshly-made.

Oh my! I live in the UAE and finding crumpets where I live is impossible ....thank you, you have rescued our weekend breakfasts (and all other meals!) especially now the weather is getting cooler and the UAE ‘winter’ is approaching ... we can have our hot, buttery oozing crumpets, a nice cup of tea and dream of autumn, Jack Frost, crunchy leaves and toasty fires.
