Loved the video! It would be cool if you show a freighter tour where you walk through everything without teleporting and give a general idea of how everything is connected. Overall love the base though!
Thanks! Maybe once I am finally done with the freighter build I will do a tour video. I wanted to keep this video pretty short and just show people the functional set up and a few other things for ideas of what you can do. Thanks for watching!
Enrasilver and I were discussing about freighter building. Why has Hello Games limited us on builds? It's obvious they love looking at all the crazy glitch building. They put 3 community builds at the top of the base list in the anomaly. So why limit freighter glitch building or make it extremely difficult? A lot of things can be built on a freighter. I am currently building an APG engine in my engine room. But to do so requires extra steps and I have to use short range teleporters and the teleporter cable, not just regular wire glitching. For the master glitch builders, they can figure building quickly. But for regular players, its a nightmare. For example, APG engines. Planet side you can just easily snap parts on to light floors. But with the teleporter cable, each light floor has to have a special wire pulled to make a glitch point. All this could have avoided by HG just giving us all the build pieces and allowing us to use the wire. I would like to personally thank Enrasilver. He took time out of his weekend to personally help me understand and perfect the APG engine on my freighter. I would have never figured it out. Crazy things can be build normally on your freighter but it is very time consuming and requires a few more extra steps.
This was super useful for me! I've been trying to make my fleet command rooms open space, and couldn't figure it out. This vid answered exactly what I was trying to do, thanks!
Thank you so much for letting me know that Amanda. That is exactly what I was hoping this video would help with. Even though I show some more advanced stuff that is just to give some ideas. The main purpose is so to show how to build a functional freighter base.
A little tip. Don't land in your freighter anymore. Land on a frigate and transport i to where ever you want. It's the best idea I've had in my entire life.
My lay out is very similar to yours.. I don't think you need more than 5 fleet command terminals because there are only 5 missions available at any given time, I may be wrong about this though.
Nice video. I love smalish compact functuonal freighters. Now after the new parts I am leaning towards small estetical extensions like your 10forward and Engineering. Nicely done Xxiou.
Very good video. Question: How did you end up with all the build menu parts available again? Were you able to put a base computer on your freigther or are you using mods?
Thanks for watching Johnny. Yes, that is an awesome MOD called GBASE and it gives you all your building parts on the freighter without the need to place a base computer.
As you can only send out 5 expeditions per day I cannot see the need for more than 5 fleet command rooms unless it’s to fill the space.. just a thought… great vid thanks
Good point thanks for mentioning that so people know. I use more for the look mainly. Also one thing I noticed is if you build something on the freighter and no npcs hang out there you can put down another fleet command room and the npc will start showing up. Can't 100% confirm that yet but I believe it works.
You must have a freighter base. They really help out. I did not mind the old way you had to set up your freighter. But the new way is so easy and honestly more fun. Keep up the grate work.
02:25 Thank you, thank you, thank you. You are the first person who showed how to do this as opposed to just saying it could be done. I learned some thing because of you today.
I'd like to see a room added to the Freighter that can open the floor/ceiling between the 3 buildable levels. - Be cool to have catwalks that go around the edges of rooms and see everything around.
I would like the ability to port down to a planet in the same way you can port up to your freighter bridge from the hanger. It would be cool to add a feature to the scanner that lets you port down to any planet in the system once you scanned it.
That would be cool, for sure. Maybe have it involve the planetside Waypoints that we've discovered, so we could -beam- port down to them instantly, as well.
One good thing that's my favourite freighter building is I can paint the exterior of my friegtor the colour I like. before I couldn paint it but not the black parts .I was searching for a new one so I could paint it but now I don't have to
There was a huge update to Freighter building in the Frontiers update which added loads of new parts. I can't remember but I may have used a mod to build some things on my freighter. There are mods you can use that give you the ability to build any part on a freighter. Thanks for watching.
I do have a tutorial for that but it is not freighter specific. In order to build that one on the freighter I use a mod called Gbase which allows all building parts on the freighter. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KX3UzbWWoJ4.html
it's really amazing what you can do with your freighter now. You can now make your freighter a real home now and spend days to build. But i still have the issue, that the refiner loses the refined material if i left it running, leave the freighter and come back. What would be really nice is to give the frigates more life. Repairing them can become really boring after a while and everything is so empty and lifeless. I am not sure how to make frigates more interesting to play with, but having some crew running around and a command room to visit could improve the experience a bit i think. Having the frigates their own storage could be another option. Also making the whole freighter warping and summoning more difficult, at least in survival mode. Basically you can call your freighter from anywhere (at least red sun systems), although they may don't have a warp drive yet. That seems quite unrealistic, because you can't warp to the system you want to travel to within the freighter, but it can be summoned to exactly the same system if you warp with your starship. Of course it will be really hard to constantly keep the freighter fueled and ready, but for this to happen you may can have special frigates, which you can send on a mission in your local system to collect the resources you need to automatically create warp cells and fuel. This would increase the time you need to really get your freighter going. And last but not least owning multiple freighters and also having multiple freighters in one system from different players. Currently it's only possible to have one freighter visible in a system if you are in a group of players, who are also in the same system. If i want to visit my friends freighter i need to dismiss mine and vice versa. What also does not seem to work is to warp with your freighter and having your friends on board, at least it did not the last time we tried.
My friends and i warped 15 times together on my freighter today. However one of the times we warped, my shipped bugged and turned into a completely different ship and wverytime my friends were on it we couldnt see each other. And it was weird and it didnt fix itself until i reset the game
In regards to your last paragraph, I was so glad the other day to google that question before buying a second freighter in my oldest campaign/game save. Loosing the freighter would have been heartbreaking.
I want to see the space sentinel frieghter fight get better. Like I think you should get the ability to destroy the freighter OR even give the possibility of being able to take it over and use it as a frigate in your fleet. This would require some changes possibly but it would be amazing in my opinion.
Still a new a relatively player and my first reaction was: "skip that, build a open space, two floor high area, and plop down half-a-dozen biomes." Then my brain caught up with my vision and reminded me that console players are somewhat limited in out build options in freighters. PC players can use mods. Lucky then.
I made a tutorial you can follow along with here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KX3UzbWWoJ4.html . Building one on a freighter though does require the use of a mod so I can have all the building parts on the freighter. But the the basics you need to get started building these is just the small panel and the light panel, watch the tutorial and you can make these yourself!
No you don't need a base computer on the freighter to the teleporters, you still need to connect them with a teleport cable but just placing them in any freighter room that has power will power them up.
Yeah each set of pieces has one that is just a room for example technology room expansion or something like that. Check the blueprints in your freighters console to make sure you bought all the freighter building parts.
I have a build guide on how to get started building them but it is not freighter specific. But this video will teach you the basics that you would need to know ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KX3UzbWWoJ4.html
Thanks for this. It didn't occur to me that the size of a room isn't limited to a single expansion room, and that I can use multiple expansions to build large, non-cramped rooms.
Hey Xxiou, I had in my mind a couple of days ago I wanted to build a sick nasty freighter base. I saw this video last night so I did it today do I want to come check it out? Give me some pointers on how to get things to stop flickering lol
