the coolest thing about nmrih universe - it actually can make sense. US armed forces are one of the strongest in the world, but still they almost got overruned entirely in no more room in hell. I bet anyone thought once "zombies are so slow, how could they do so much damage?". I also thought that way, until i saw just a piece of texture on one map - "water infects people". In that way, this virus could spread so fast that nobody could stop it. This single piece of texture gave us more plot and realistic look to the infection than the entire Walking Dead tv show.
@@chiken6559 walking dead makes no fucking sense anyways. Everyone is already "infected" and all of the walkers are fucking slow as fuck and fragile. But to be honest tbh the water infection doesnt make sense for me because it gets filtered and plus even if the water managed to get a whole city infected the whole US would realise that and do something about it. Plus zombies that are as slow as the ones in twd are easy to kill and would have no chance against any military im not only talkunh about usa, i mean russia, china, the EU. But i guess countries like india and china are overcrowded and would get fucked fast. I still love the game, funny thing is i actually played it for the first time yesterday sadly i never the chance to play it before because i didnt have a pc. Long ass comment btw
@@explicit862 Actually, in the lore of this game, nobody knew that they were dealing with a zombie virus at all. Everybody thought it was an outbreak of Encephalitis Lethargica at first. The virus caused a huge global pandemic that left hundreds of thousands of infected people in comas and catatonic states. It's only until a full year later after the pandemic started that those infected, who were kept alive and on life support in hospitals, started waking up as zombies, all at the same time. That means hundreds of thousands of people, all around the country, suddenly becoming zombies. And the people who get infected from being bitten by these zombies die and reanimate much, much faster -- and they come back as runners, no less. There's not much you can do to mount an effective response against that. And IIRC, a good chunk of the missions are set in New York City, which is one of the most densely populated cities in the country. You can imagine how devastating a zombie outbreak like this would be there. P.S: And on top of being spread through water and bodily fluids, I think it's also implied that the virus was spread through livestock.
@@explicit862 Also, NMRIH's zombie apocalypse is fairly similar to how TWD's zombie apocalypse is done. Both outbreaks are very sudden and completely unexpected. In the Walking Dead, everyone is already infected, meaning *everybody* who dies comes back as a zombie. That means the thousands of people who die in the United States every day come back as zombies without warning. A ton of people get bit, die, come back, bite more people, and rinse and repeat, and that's all while the previously mentioned thousands of deaths that occur in the United States every day continue to make more zombies. And again, this is happening all around the country. They'd quickly accumulate a significant numbers advantage over NMRIH's zombies. I also think it's worth mentioning that in NMRIH, the United States had already deployed martial law, and there was a significant military presence in the streets of american cities. The military in NMRIH would, by comparison, be more prepared to take on a zombie outbreak than the military in TWD would be, as the military in TWD have zero presence in any major population centers at the time of the outbreak. Also, walkers are harder to kill, because you absolutely *have* to destroy the brain to kill them. I don't remember the same being stated for NMRIH's zombies.
This song always leaves me a feeling empty, it makes you think that this game is not like other zombie game. it makes you think that if there really was a zombie apocalypse it would be very sad
Did you draw your profile picture? It looks great! I don’t know who it is, but I certainly know that whoever drew it is pretty good. Wether it’s you who drawn it or not, don’t give up on your dreams, the time to give up is reserved for when it’s unstoppable or genuinely impossible.
If i play se other zombie game im see only things what i can kill for fun, but if i listen this song and seeing on menu picture am see peoples on this not mindless creatures.
on the map Brooklyn, you can find multiple different graffiti pieces on walls, most declaring how the different gangs essentially drop any beef and unify their numbers to help protect the blocks and neighborhoods, one of the quotes tagged; “nyc it’s time.” always fills me with this wild feeling. this game is the physical answer to the question of a what if? zombie scenario. one of the few zombie games that envelop players in a true immersive-hopeless feeling. there’s nothing like it

bro i feel so helpless when listening to this, i read some comment saying that those who got infected according to the NMRIH lore got into a coma for a year or so and then suddenly woke up as zombies, hundreds of thousands zombies just like that like, how do someone fight something like that? and think about everyone who had hope for their loved ones, that they would wake up someday perfectly fine and healthy and then find out that they all turned into monsters this just makes me sad :( this is truly a masterpiece of zombie apocalypse games
@@michaelenz7039this game has very nice lore, hidden on maps. Some maps have documents, which you can read, if you set graphics to maximum, or if you break in game, and just open textures.
NMRIH was part of my childhood. It’s still part of my top games list for its atmosphere, and this music is addicting. The depression and hopelessness within it. But it still has a spark of hope within. I don’t think any zombie game will ever beat this
"I thought I was ready for this. After everything we had been through. Yes, we survived.. but for what? Kill every last Zeke and repopulate earth? In the end, I was alone. One by one our tightly knit group fell apart. People got lost, sick, turned.. I had to put down so many former friends myself. And now, I can hear 'them'.. outside the door, scratching and moaning. So many of them. And yet, I am alone. Forlorn as I am, I stare down the cold steel barrel of my gun. The very last bullet, it was always meant for me. My fever worsens, the pulsating pain around the bite wound on my arm lets me know that Solanum will take over my mind and body soon if I don't act now. I wonder.. will there be others after me? Or was I truly.. the last.." *BANG!* The survivors have been overrun. "Aw well, anyone fancy another round?"
"There is nothing left for me now. I can't help but wonder if we ever had a chance. As the thin veneer of civilisation was pulled away when the disaster struck, people have turned into monsters, no matter if they survived or not. The dead walk, but as days and months passed, human nature has turned out to be the true enemy. I will never forget their faces, of family.. friends.. anyone who stuck up for me when I needed it. They were so full of hope. In the end, this changed, it was every one for themselves. We were starved and at our wit's end. Their faces still stick with me, but now an the expression of fear and disbelief when I had to show them the final mercy, the only kind I was still capable of. Wether they were infected, or simply deemed too much of a hinderance, the line had blurred. Now there is only me, and I lost what little care I had. People have died because of me, and for that, I do not deserve to live. I have become a monster, and the only thing left to do now, is to go out there, where they shuffle and moan, and become one with them.."
It’s been a minute since you got bit, don’t give up yet! The rescue is going to have medical supplies that can treat such a harsh virus! That is, until you realized, it’s already too late for you. With tears in your eyes, you turn to your the person you got along with best in the squad, requesting his 9mm. He gave it to you, with tears in his eyes as well. Your friend spoke "Listen bud, before you go, I just want to let you know... I’m sorry. May you find more peace in the next world than you have found in this one." You nodded your head, speaking in a unusually raspy voice, "I’ll miss you. You better escape, I don’t care about the others. We will see each other again." You pressed the barrel to your head at a 45 degree angle now squeezing the trigger, slowly. You were able to see, but now it’s just- You feel cold, it’s all silent. Everything is dark. At least it’s over now... Enjoy the music, you’ll get another chance to live.
holy. listening to this is almost making me tear up. this game was and still is such a gold mine. i remember asking my dad to help me get garrys mod but i didnt know the name of the game so i described it the best i could and this is the game he found for me. i played it day and night for years. I even remember getting nightmares of the main menu zombie staring at me and scaring me because of how much i played the game.
i like this game for multiple reasons, some of which im listing here. 1. realism with gun calibers 2. YOU ARE NOT IMMUNE TO THE INFECTION. this is something that i rarely see in zombie games, but some notable ones that have this are Zombi/ZombiU and Project Zomboid 3. its a lot more dark and sad compared to something like Resident Evil 4. holy fuck the melee combat is amazing, i always love melee combat that feels close to the Melee Arts 2 mod for Garry's Mod 5. wait, THIS IS A SOURCE GAME? THEY DID THIS IN FUCKING HAMMER EDITOR?
This song just shows the sadness and the acceptance of death of someone, knowing that there's no chance to survive in a apocalypsis, and there's no chance for the humanity.
omg idk but there's something about this song that makes me want to listen to it over and over again like in the sense of nostalgia or something dramatic
@@Vladioik honestly this game has a soundtrack that beats every other game out there(well, not all but you know what i mean) like for a game like these its amazing the soundtrack it has

I still remember when we did not find a tool to break the last door to reach the roof so that the helicopter could rescue us, but the place was already flooded with water and the zombies were behind us, and everyone had surrendered. Then I decided to dive and swim among the zombies to the basement, then I found the tool and we were able to escape. Damn this is the best horror game I ever played... the atmosphere, the music,decisions...EVERYTHING 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
The vibes I feel from this gets me every time, I swear. It spews this sense despair, and it gives me this everlasting feeling of isolation. Like you're truly alone and there's little you can do about it. In fact, there is nothing you can do to resolve it.
Random topic: If the cure "Gene Therapy" is already lying around somewhere, does that mean that the virus has already a cure and the characters are just stuck in a containment zone?
Yup. As i know, at first in universe was COVID-19-like virus, scientists mad e a cure, but they were kinda late, and the virus mutated to zombie virus, but the cure still works, which mean what it's not too bad, and maybe humanity will arise again.
@@Влад-л1р4уexatly in the part that was made very late just weeks or 1 2 3 months before the zombie mutated and well. They stop doing it shortly after the S H I T Happen in ALL Word because of the Zombies and etc.
Seriously this is the only game that really made me feel real feelings of hopelessness. I remember when I first played it when I was younger around the time it first came out, and seeing your fellow survivors start to perish as you try to complete objectives to escape is depressing to go through. No other zombie game out there really captured that feeling that this game did. I'm totally looking forward for the sequel to come out.
I keep revisiting this soundtrack. It's hard to explain why, but it could be that it represents a time when I was carefree. I would usually be on the main menu waiting for my friends to join Skype to start playing. Now I don't feel like I'm the same person I was then. It's like that person, or boy rather, died. This soundtrack captures how I feel.
i just started playing it, the soundtrack just made me feel nostalgic, like anything matters in this world and came to yt to see if other people felt the same thing, this ost reminds me of when i was a kid and i didnt care about anything except being a good child, the image that comes to my mind whenever i hear this soundtrack is a playground of the 2000 with vivid colors and a spring filter on it, its just amazing how music can change the emotions this way
This brings me back to the year 2015 when I was 16 and started playing NMRIH, how many hours of fun I spent with this game, especially this soundtrack makes you feel more nostalgic...
i love how every comment agrees that this game and its theme is depressing as hell, i just downloaded the game as of 30/08/2024 and i gotta say i felt the same way. The Walking Dead Resident Evil Left 4 Dead even though i've heard of them but never played them and instead saw gameplays, this game def beats them, the music theme, the title screen, everything got me but specially the characters in general, looking at them just makes me feel scared of a zombie outbreak in real life, because that actually made me think that both survivors and zombies had dreams, hopes, goals, family and friends, all of that to just be wiped out.. Another rant, when people say that this game gives a huge sense of dread, we MEAN it.
Honestly, the way the devs handled the music, and the aesthetic of the game is just so sad. A zombie apocalypse wouldn't be about running and gunning, with no worry about food or about infection, like Left 4 dead 2. In reality, it'd be absolutely depressing. The zekes you see infront of you had lives, family, possibly kids too. And nobody is spared from the chaos of the virus, not even kids. Nobody is immune, and when you get bit theres no other options to fall back on. And when theres no more room in hell, the dead will walk the earth.
I agree with both of these comments. This game really can capture the feeling as the characters seem emotionless at this point. And the fact that humanity could do nothing to control it really shows the severity.
But if they are dead there is plenty of bugs to eat them so its fine in real life or if they are alive and infected from virus its probbly going to get cure in week or soo because od possible extinction
I had a really vivid dream that I was in a zombie apocalypse. It was so vivid that even today, a week later, I can remember almost every detail. It was very realistic. One thing I remember the most about it, was how depressed and hopeless I felt. It was unlike any emotion I'd ever felt before. It was so bad, that when I woke up I got a bit emotional. There's something so hopeless about realizing that nothing will go back to normal, even if a cure is developed, which Is unlikely. The world you knew is gone.
@@deleteduser4222 today walking in my half closed and empty city... with all the parks closed with plastic warning bands and COVID warnings everywhere... I felt like that... everything around us is just tearing apart, COVID had helped me to find a better job ( im a programmer ), but if it mutates into something worse, or lasts longer than expected, the world will not be so far from the game 😿
Sometimes one just looks for something in order to cry... sometimes I cry without reason, and sometimes when I have a reason I can’t... if doing that makes you feel better, just go for it... 😺💜
My favourite game love the depressive dark vibes especially when you get separated from the group and don't know where to go and the zombies close in slowly. I always save the last bullet for me...
