Dude you adapt to these crazy levels so quickly. Whenever you die in one of those crazy designed levels you always come back figuring out so many better ways to solve it.

I miss the costumes. I was thinking they might be back in SMM3, but CarlSagan42 recently said he doesn't think Nintendo sold enough copies of SMM2 to justify a third one. That makes me sad, if he's right. 😢 Would be really cool if they complete a trilogy, at least.
Ok, legit, the shell drop read on the first try, I cannot fucking believe it. I can NOT believe that, and the next couple of moves. I play a lot of Mario, that was one of the most impressive 10 seconds blind reading I have ever seen in my entire life. That's the best sequence of reads on your channel in 5 years.
I usually don’t like on videos as a matter of principle… but that last level earned it. I enjoy watching you breeze through levels but it’s those levels that truly test you, that I know I couldn’t even get 25% in that make me stay
If it gets a genuine reaction from me -- laughing out loud, surprise from an unexpected twist, awe at some impressive skill -- I'll generally give it a like. I usually feel like it earns the "official" nod of approval at that point.

Holy shit, that level was insane, and your performance there was even crazier. It's really weird and janky for that type of platforming kaizo level, and there's a lot of completely bizarre and unindicated stuff, like honestly if it were me attempting to do that kind of shit I would waste all day and never actually come close to beating it.
I think the tiny bit of extra time needed to clear the final level the intended way comes from the very beginning, when you gp to momentum cancel after the walljump, you're probably supposed to just carry momentum through the walljump and up and over the chain chomp.
Nothing like seeing some uncleared levels being taken care of. Your contributions are never in vain my dude. Hopefully there will be more uncleared stuff coming your way that only you can take care of.
i would really love to see the level creator come back and find the level cleared for the first time, and the final cheese be something unintended and the timer was supposed to be mad tight so now they have to go and find what you did lmao
Part of me wonders if the level was designed to be 10 seconds longer but then he scrapped some of it and cut the timer short but couldn't be bothered to delete the old stuff.
I wonder how many out of that 440 tries was Ryu's on that last demonic level... BTW I am searching for that insane new soup level Ryu did years ago. It was somewhere in the middle of his long beard "era" when he was still doing his no-skip expert stuff if i remember correctly. It was an insanely long level with unbelievably hard wall jumps. The level theme was that "carnival-castle" if I remember correctly. Don't know what the actual name of that theme/tileset.

This is why I'm a big fan of ryu. He finishes very very tough levels. Even thab, these days, skips very hard levels (he games over and will not finish the level anymore).
You could have cheesed the last section by putting on the shellmet and twirling to land on the pow and then doing the rest of it normally. You’ll have a damage boost at the final jump of the spiny shell too

Amazing video Ryu! I love the "for content" moments .. also I was wondering during that last level couldn't you just wear the shelmet instead of throwing it since you had enough time to go through everything and clear it instead of doing it the intended way
I'm not convinced the shell-into-POW was necessary, either, and definitely not the final spiny shell jump. Could just wear or ditch the first shell, twirl to jump off the POW, wear the spiny shell, and run on the spikes and through the plant with i-frames. Might even shave off more time because you'd skip the big jumpy.
