Scotty isn't saying 10 out of 10 Hyundais will break down. It's a fact that Hyundais break down more often than a Toyota and just because you have owned a good Hyundai, it doesn't mean others would too. but at the same time, just because 9 Toyotas didn't break down, your 1st Toyota might.

In contrast, my wife has a 2017 Kia Sportage. Bought new. $29K OUT THE DOOR. No issues. Leather seats, heated everything…my only complaint is the lousy mpg’s for a small 4 cylinder and the road noise. I think the road noise is because of the cheap tires used. But as a simple daily driver, she’s happy. And it didn’t break the bank. We will probably get rid of it at 100, 000 miles. But keep up with maintenance and it’s a fine inexpensive vehicle IMO.

My friend got a pre-owned 2016 Hyundai Santa-Fe back in 2020 for ~$9000. Not even a month of owning it, there’s something wrong with the engine so she took it to the dealership. They end up replacing the engine, but since it’s a manufacturer error, it can be replaced with no cost. I’m just happy that nothing bad happened to her, but she has successfully convinced me not to get a used Kia/Hyundai despite of more affordable prices…

My family and I have owned multiple Hyundai/Kia vehicles, starting with the Tucson in 2005 (which we still have and is still running strong). We have a 2005 Tucson, 2013 Kia Soul, 2018 Kia Rio, 2018 Kia Sportage(recently traded in for a 2023 Sportage) and a 2021 Kia Sportage between us all. They were taken for all required recalls and given routine maintenance and oil changes. There were never any problems other than routine maintenance requirements for any car (new tires, brakes, etc). Either we're the luckiest family in America or a lot of people don't know how to take care of their cars and blame it on the company.

If you replace (not necessarily with brand new) you will or should have warranty and hopefully no repairs or problems. But do whatever works for you. Just my opinion.

My dad bought 2006 Sonata with 2.2 CRDI few years back for backup vehicle for 1000 eur. 465 thousand km in odo. Thus far only problems has been to replace injector seal rings (which is very simple and cheap fix, but can cause bigger isfues, you should do it if you haven't in these diesel engines), fuel gauge has electronic issue so it doesn't work, and had to replace rusted fuel line in the back. It's solid car I'd say. Much better to drive than my wifes 2012 Toyota Avensis with half that in odo and 10x more expensive in used market. There are problem cars in Hyundai/Kia lineup, but thanks to it the good ones are a steal, if you know what to look at.

EVERY car will experience an issue at some point and it will cost you. It's inevitable. Stop trying to scare people from specific car brands. If the car fits their specific circumstances in life than it is what it is. And for all the people who think I am just Hyundai or Kia owner that is offended. You would deemed incorrect. Same engine problem as the other models where all the software does is when it detects the fatal knock, you're supposed to get it into the dealership ASAP. Most likely what would happen is they either ignore it and say it's fine or replace the engine. After doing the software update, Kia then provided a lifetime warranty on the powertrain. Not a bad deal but concerning none-the-less.

I bought a NEW Hyundai Santa Cruz... The transmission went out at 2,000 miles. Hyundai LIED to me about recalls...There are MANY RECALLS on Hyundai transmissions. Mine, would drop into whats called 'limp mode' thats 20 mph.... without any notice, I was driving on the freeway at 60mph, then suddenly dropped to 20mph ON THE FREEWAY !!!! and angering my life and my families life..... NEVER AGAIN... I SOLD it right away.

Aside all the bashing he gives for Hyundai/Kia, he also made a video of top 8 Asian car brands where he put Hyundai/Kia fourth place after Toyota, Honda and Mazda.

I've owned 5 Hyundai vehicles and I will never own another car as my daily driver; my experience has been positive for ALL 5 cars with exceptional customer service at 3 different dealers! Genesis will by next car!

@@genesiskwanza8335Sorry to hear that; my experience has been universally and consistently positive; they stood by me as a customer and the dealer culture (of the 3 I have dealt with) was professionally consistent. The value for dollar spent is strong; the vehicles are stylish, well equipped, with acceptable performance...I'm a fan and will be a life-long owner!

The best car I ever owned in my life was a 2008 Hyundai Elantra. That generation of Elantras and 4-cylinder Sonatas were the most reliable cars Hyundai ever made. I was at 300,000 with the original engine and transmission working perfectly in mine before an accident totalled it. I beat the hell out of that car, too. But yeah, the engines have really gone downhill since then. Recalls galore.

I believe Kia/Hyundai quality peaked in the late 2000’s. I had a 2007 Sportage with a V6 that ran like a clock for me. I would later upgrade to a 2006 Ford Escape.

I owned a 2001 accent for 17 years, 2007 entourage for 8, and the dreaded 2016 Tucson for 7 years. No major issues with any of them. I keep them well maintained. I am looking at the older panther platform and a possible Toyota due to higher maintenance costs and getting back into working on cars myself.

It's hard following the various power outputs of different models, and gets harder when they have different battery sizes. Maybe it would be easier if Graphs were shown? Plus most of these EV's are not Named - there's just a random collection of letters and numbers.

@@tooltime9260 Ohhhh.. I love this..LOL! I’ve read more novels, books and literature than most people in my age group, which you OBVIOUSLY wouldn’t be able to determine considering your statement. I do AGREE with you that phones do constitute a major problem in society today, especially with a younger generation who have access to an abhorrence of degenerative ‘information’ that, at such a young and undeveloped age, can completely ruin someone’s ability to develop a mentally mature and healthy psyche in life. I just thought his video was a ‘little repetitive’ and gave a polite opinion, considering Im an ardent follower of his. Try again genius….

Scotty your video editing skills are often overlooked. Its not easy for most to produce content that looks professional as you produce. I would not consider a Hyundai or kia because i have to make my cars last at least 10 years

My daughter had a 2016 Kia Soul that needed a catalytic converter twice and she was always getting the breaks repaired on that thing. Someone tried to steal it even though it was the top model with the push button start...so she had to replace back side window and fix steering wheel. It got totaled 2 months ago with over 120k miles on it. We told her not to go near a Kia again or Hyundai ...so now she's in a 2021 Mazda CX-30 and she loves it so far.
