Oh man definitely a huge favorite of mine. Love the groove on this song. I remember back in the day when we didn’t have RU-vid putting my headphones on and trying so hard to hear what the hell he was doing doing the no quarter parts with the ghost notes and bass drum. I was actually doubling up on the kick.. it took me years to finally make sense of it all by pretending I was Bonham and telling my self this was probably how he did it! Lol.. I would actually have Dreams trying to figure it out and would find my self tapping my hands and moving my feet out of frustration even while I was sleeping! I think that’s how I finally figured it out .. straight out of my sleep lol. Definitely a nice add with the foot cam and you play it very cool spot on. NICE. I love the live Madison square versions tremendously.. specially the begging when John Paul goes into his solo. I’ve actually discovered that the version on the song remains the same video and records are a different take then the recorded versions on the cassette tape. It’s the same show edited the same as when the video first came out and they put it on vinyl but the cassette during the same part were Bonham starts kicking in the kick .. it is different from the vinyl and actual video. I know they edited 2 shows in one on the original video but it’s definitely cool to hear a different version or part of No Quarter. Unless the reproduction cassettes that came out later maybe won’t be like that but I remember having an original back in the day that I got from an uncle who was also a huge zeppelin fan and gave that cassette set to me back in the late 80’s and believe me it was a different take edited in. Very cool.

I've heard about a number of tunes that were different from the movie that were on the record/cassette. I believe Rock & Roll is also different. It wouldn't surprise me at all as Jimmy Page did an awful lot of editing of the songs themselves, studio and live. Have you ever heard the unedited version of Hots on for Nowhere? It's very interesting how Jimmy edited that song, really cut it up! lol The final product is amazing, though. That's one of the great things about Page, he knew what he was after and he got engineers that knew their stuff and could give him what he wanted. I'm glad to hear you finally got all of Bonham's parts figured out on No Quarter. It really is such a true original song, very haunting and Plant's lyrical imagery fits so perfectly. As far as learning Bonham's drum parts, I have to tell you, I've done the same thing. lol It's like you know what he's doing, but things aren't adding up and you keep thinking about it, even when sleeping!! lol Love your stories, my friend and I always appreciate your input and critique. Thank you, as always!! Please stay safe!!

Such a great tune and a great performance of it too! I’m dead fuggin serious when I say I’d much rather see you play with Led Zeppelin than Jason Bonham. He’s a good drummer, but it would be much more satisfying to hear you with them.

As always, I am amazed at your talent, ability, accuracy and precision on Bonham. I do have a question that I don't know if anyone's asked you,...I know I haven't... When you go to make these Zeppelin covers, do you already know these parts by heart or do you have to sit down and learn them, relearn them, or refresh your memory on them? Of course, I know that you have the classics and the staples memorized, but on the less popular ones, do you have to go in and work on them for a bit to refresh your memory, learn them new or do you just have an incredible Zeppelin drum catalog stored in that talented brain of yours? Much respect and admiration, my friend!

It actually depends on the song. Some I've been playing for years, so I know them, but others, even "knowing" them, I still have to sit down and listen and make sure I'm playing exactly what Bonham is playing. I never want to be lazy and mislead anyone. Some of the songs I played here and there, but I really needed to bear down and basically relearn or even just learn the song properly, as maybe it's a song I haven't played in years. Sometimes my brain doesn't kick in and there might be certain parts I have to retrain myself to do. As you can, all over the place. If I didn't care about trying to be exact, I don't think I'd have to spend nearly as much time on these as I do now. Thank you for the kind words. You've always been very supportive of me and this channel and I really appreciate. I don't see your drum vids anymore, are you not making them?

@@ChannelingJohnBonhamThanks for the response, Steve. I kind of thought that would be your reply. Your meticulousness and desire for perfection comes through on each video and you have the best Bonham channel, hands down, on all of RU-vid! As far as my little channel, I have been working as a travel nurse for the last two years and have been on the road the entire time, so I can't bring my drums and recording equipment with me and all I have been doing is working, sleeping and aging for the last two years. Haha. The wife, two dogs and a trailer full of essentials is all I can bring with us. We stay in AirBnB's and I work crazy hours now. At the beginning of the pandemic, in Feb 2020 we decided to go on the road to help out where the Covid hot spots erupt. Started in Houston for 6 weeks, then to NYC at the beginning (the epicenter at the time) in March 2020 for 4 months, then to Tucson for a year, then to Ft Wayne, IN for the last 6 months and 3 more to come. I started my channel when I was in El Paso because I knew I would be there awhile and the place we rented had a good space that I could soundproof for a practice room. Recently, we bought a home in Texas in July 2021...over the internet, without seeing it in person,. Lol (my dad checked it out for me, though), so when I wrap up this next three months in Indiana, we should gather all of our belongings from El Paso and make our way to our new home in Beaumont ( my home town) and I'll set up a sound/practice room in our garage. The previous owner actually had a little band and has it partially set up for it with carpeting and A/C already in there. So we will both have a garage set-up, I guess. 😁 Keep the great music and drumming coming, brother. We all appreciate you!

@@bobbythreet-btdrummer418 First, I want to say thanks for your frontline work in this pandemic. It just shows the level of your character, my friend, that you'd put others welfare before your own. THAT is amazing and so much appreciated by not only me, but most everyone throughout the world. Your dedication is awe inspiring. I hope once you finish with the good people of Indiana, you'll be able to settle into your new home and play your drums to your heart's content. You damn sure have earned it with your selfless devotion during this pandemic, my friend. I wish you the absolute best in your new home and being able to play again as you've always been a very fine drummer. Please take care.

@@kuromi4048 Yes, I count in with my hi hat. I do that often as you can see in my other vids. lol This is a very interesting song. Did you catch the drum riff at about 6:38 where he basically does a left right roll instead of leading with right then left so when he completes the roll he can hit the cymbal with his right hand stick? I noticed Bonham rarely hits the left cymbal with his left hand after a roll which is what you'd have to do on this particular roll, but as I pointed out, he starts and leads through the roll with his left hand.
