@hereholdthiswillya
@hereholdthiswillya Год назад
The size if the strips was 4x14. That's a ratio of 2:7. If you multiply by 3 that's 6x21. That'll give you a star with the same proportions but 50% larger. If that's too big, you can try multiplying the 2:7 ratio by 2.5 which would be 25% larger. Etc

Thank you so much for such a clear video for such an easy and pretty ornament. I do wish you had showed how to add that thread hanger. I have yet to find a video actually showing how to add any kind of a hanger!
@Stitchinpost
@Stitchinpost 13 дней назад
Glad you liked the video! For the hanger just thread a needle with your thread of choice (I used a thicker decorative thread), poke the needle through the center between two of the point (it's the corner of the center square), and pull through as much thread as you like and tie in a knot. Hope that helps.

So how would you make them bigger for mug rugs? Wider/Larger pieces of fabric?
@Stitchinpost
@Stitchinpost Год назад
That's right. If you want say a 4" center area you'd need 8" wide strips. You'll have experiment with how long you need the strips to be. I'd double all our measurements, make one, and then adjust as necessary.

@Stitchinpost
@Stitchinpost Год назад
I don't have other measurements, if you keep the proportions similar it will work with any width strip. Just keep in mind the center part of the star will be 1/2 the width of one strip. I've seen the stars done with paper, but haven't done it myself.

Cut points on the ends of your strips. Put glue inside before you pass the strip through. Cut tails off as the last step.
@Stitchinpost
@Stitchinpost Год назад
Thanks for sharing - that works too! I found I didn't like that method as much because you can sometimes see bit of the edge still and where the glue is (especially on light fabrics). So far none of mine have come loose, starching the fabric helps it hold its shape really well.

Do you absolutely have to have flatter spray? Can you make them without it?
@Stitchinpost
@Stitchinpost Год назад
You can use any light fabric starch or stiffener, not just Flatter. If you want to make them without any spray at all you can, but your fabric won't hold the folds as well or keep the crisp points. I would recommend using glue to hold the points in, if don't use the stiffener.
