As a home hobbyist, I'm thinking of just sticking with Cakewalk. I'm still learning new things all the time. It has everything I need. I'll still be interested in the Sonar pricing. I think they'll be still be a Cakewalk presence on RU-vid and on-line. Who knows, maybe by Xmas they'll run a sale on Sonar.

nice timing..About 2 hours ago I started watching your videos about the switch coming up with Cakewalk and "POP" a new video about just that shows up. Im trying to learn Abelton Lite, Reaper, and Cakewalk all at the same time(coming from the late 90s to early 2000s and a 16track tascam, there is a little bit of a learning curve.). They each have something the other two dont..but Cakewalk isnt as overwhelming as Ableton, and yet seems more flexible and offers more than Reaper...plus I love the Roland heritage(not so much with Gibson). Like Cubase and Atari. Lets hope Sonar/Next doesnt price itself out of customers. It is a buyer market. We are flooded with lots of great DAWs, at all different price points.

I'm a long-time user of sonar since sonar 5 producer up to sonar platinum. i will definitely be getting the new sonar when it comes out. sonar will not be subscription. there will be different versions at different price points as there were with the original cakewalk sonar. I'm very excited

That's what's up... It looks like they are doing subscription but not how others are doing it and they will have a own the DAW option it seems as well .. but the Bandlab membership will include sonar and next for a monthly or yearly cost.... Thanks for the comment...😀🙏🏾

Yup, long time user here. I'm waiting as well to see what is what- especially pricing. The backstage pass has no benefit to me personally so is NOT the route I will be taking. So, we wait a little bit more. I agree that they will tier the prducts with a cheapo base version and then possibly 2 more versions - a pro version with new plugins/synths/vsts and then a full fat version or an XXL version with everything. Interesting times.

Lifetime Cakewalk user. 25+ years. But if they don't have any new features that can keep up with the likes of Ableton then I might have to jump ship for good

On another of your YT threads, I had mentioned that I like Samplitude Pro X. Depending on how much Sonar is, I may switch over to Samplitude. Its rock solid, has a lot in common with CW. What CW calls a "clip," Samp calls an "object." Many of the same procedures can be done on both, many using similar tactics to access. Right-clicking the mouse for context menu things and the like. In Samp, you can get a floating window to handle an object's tempo, key, and other things similar to what you can do with CW's Inspector. What I prefer is CW's flow that I've grown very used to. I love the "take manager" in CW, the ability to determine tempo of a given track by dragging it to the timeline, a feature I use frequently. I could go on, but for brevity's sake, I'll stop talking about the comparison. This is K dot E dot V dot... ohhhhhhhhhhhhh, forget it. This is Kevin, signing off ;)

Let's wait and see. If they do wait to long with an official release or price tag, many will forget that there is a new thing. Maybe die hard sonar fans.....

I'm surprised that they haven't announced pricing given they are in public beta. One would think that the product's got to be pretty much done at this point. Aside from day one patches, I can't imagine there is much coding work left to do.

I still don't know, but I am seriously thinking to step over to Cubase if Cakewalk's price is not in competition with Cubase.

Yea I hope they don't go as high as Cubase I think they are to high myself and that upgrade fee is more than some other DAWs as well... But we will see what they do... Thanks for the comment...😀🙏🏾

Goodness knows what their problems are? I had been on cakewalk since 1995, but have now moved over to Presonus Studio One. And I will not be returning!

For Me I love the new features in Sonar but one thing that I dislike is the interface look,it's kinda look ugly and too cheap ,even CbB interface still loom better than the look of Sonar, they also removed Theme options, are they trying to make it a toy or what? then the real time old Cakewalk Vsts aren't there yet except for Dimension Pro and Concrete Limiter which I so much love, and probably because it's still a backstage whatever that's why those old plugin aren't there yet, Am waiting to know, and those ones are not featured in Sonar I'll be highly disappointed. Well di Brother .❤

I know they said they will be doing updates for the UI im pretty sure some will like it and some will not not to many people even cared about the theme options so not 100% suprised if they dont have the editor available anymore. If they have Dimension Pro thats cool it was a good vst back in the SPLAT days. We will see what they add and the price hopefully soon. Thanks for the Comment..😀🙏🏾

Of course they'll drop it. It'll happen a bit later. Your ability to do your 6 months reup, won't work, and the show will be over. It'll happen quietly.
