thanks i had it installed but updated in case Cakewalk is old but nice, I use Cubase Pro now I tried so many DAWs Cubase is great

Mike, there aren't enough words to express how grateful I am that you put so much effort into teaching Cakewalk by Bandlab. Unfortunately, I'd been dragging my feet for years about buying recording equipment and choosing a DAW. After picking Cakewalk about a year ago, I finally stumbled on to your channel and it's been nothing short of a blessing. I'm only sad that they're going to discontinue it. I'm learning more and more all the time and don't want to switch to another product. I think they've done a bang up job with Cakewalk and I'm thankful that you're helping to support those of us who don't want to jump ship. Thank you!!!!

I've been using Cakewalk since 1989 (Twelve Tone Systems' DOS ver. 1.1 as I recall) and I'm not about to change now. So thank heavens for Mike!

Have been using Sonar, then Cakewalk for many years and Mike's guidance and expertise have been invaluable- clear, concise, patient and always engaging. Thank you. I can understand some of the concerns expressed here about how convoluted the reactivation process might seem, but folks need to remember that this has been a FREE product which is capable of some very professional functionality, for which we should be grateful.

Keep in mind, people like me paid several hundreds of dollars for Sonar before Bandlab took over - so no - it wasn't exactly free for us.

@@CraigHatmakerBXL I've bought several versions of Cakewalk through the last 20+ years, each of which cost me several hundred dollars. It's very frustrating that I'm still expected to pay extreme prices for updates to the system; updates which are very unlikely to be of use to me. Thanks to Mike for helping us navigate this unnecessarily convoluted procedure.

To chime in with many of the other comments - you don't need to go through the kokolores with the offline computer. To register, you do select the "register offline" option, but then just continue and register online. Follow everything Mike says except copying the files over to another computer and back. As long as the computer you're running Cakewalk on is connected to the internet (which most computers these days are), you do the whole process on that connected computer. But still thanks, Mike, for your kind help, greatly appreciated 😊

We have worked and earned our money with Cakewalk professional for 20 years. After Gibson ended, we switched to Steinberg Nuendo, where we will remain. We simply need the specialized functions in audio postprocessing. But I can recommend Cakewalk to everyone when it comes to just making music. It is one of the best DAWs on the market. And Cakewalk has a long history and an insane range of capabilities when it comes to MIDI and audio.

This is all good, but some time will pass (maybe two weeks) and Cakewalk will ask you to activate it again. And if there is no Internet on the computer, then the whole procedure will have to be repeated. For those who want to experiment, just fast forward a month and see what happens. I don’t understand the point of activation at all if the program is free.

Thank you for that. I can add that this process will let you install and activate the latest version of Bandlab on a Windows 7 PC. It's not officially supported but everything runs ok (so far) You will need a W10 computer for Cakewalk Product center and to generate the activation import/export files

Already switched to Reaper. I was considering it for a long time but the Bandlab announcement pushed me to do it. Couldn't be happier with Reaper, very intuitive, stable, customisable. Wish I had done it ages ago.

Thanks, Mike. I think I’ll check my desktop and laptop music PCs this weekend in the download center, and then save all of the download files to a usb stick for future use. I recently had to reinstall all of my old Sonar additional purchases on that new laptop, and that was a chore, getting access to the old Cakewalk site

Hello (Mike) Cakewalk Revealed: Many users were obviously confused about this video but I attribute that to people who just don't listen or do not see the whole video from start to finish. I understood you perfectly well and the new video where you supposedly clarify this confusion was very generous of you to post as well. But for the most part, this video here was clear and I understood it all. So thank you nonetheless for looking out for us Cakewalk users. I watch all your videos on Cakewalk (which are excellent) and appreciate your sharing your knowledge with us all for sure.
