red1gogo1 This is actually really well-thought-out in my opinion. Yinu’s mother being the real boss makes sense- an overbearing, almost slavish parent seems to be the real danger rather than the child prodigy, who in some cases ends up being a victim.
I'd say it's less defending her daughter and more defending her ticket to fame. She escalates the fight far beyond what would be considered reasonable while simply telling Yimu to just keep playing instead of actually caring about her safety.
My only problem with this is that the soundtrack is great, and i love how the enemies sync to it. This is a problem because the player doesn't, all the attacks are loud squeaky riffs or drum rolls that totally ruin the music, which seems to be the point of the game.
@@codebracker i would suggest rather that your attacks just come out on beat, whenever you pull out your guitar or drums your character riffs with the stage music, even the turrets should probably fire in time.
@@arsontheaverage8821 Well it's probably inadvised to completely remove how the player interacts with the stage, nor the auido feedback for them doing so, as a rythm game i think it's an interesting concept of how to interact, that interaction, i believe, should just compliment the score, rather than contrast with it.
Did you guys notice that on 8:48 in Yinu/her moms concept art it looks like Yinu’s shadow is locked behind bars as “Mama” prevents Mayday and Zuke from reaching her. Also during the demo a gate and lock is what originally prevent our protagonist from fighting her, plus it seems like in all of Yinu’s promos her mom or aspects of her mom are always around her. I theorize that “Mama” has become so overbearing over Yinu’s talent to the point where it’s become an obsession. Maybe Mayday and Zuke will help Yinu break free or show “Mama” the error of her ways.
from what i can remember the story is the city is run by NSR which only let their artists (like Yinu) and only their artists to play and create music idk
I dunno, at first glance it does seem like the mom is protecting her child, but there are a couple times where the pianist sounds afraid of her mom's behavior, perhaps the pianist is a sort of willing slave to her mom's ambitions for her?
I can't help but wonder, WHY are Maday and Zuke going after the other musicians again? I mean, yeah they seem quite arrogant, but Yinu seemed to be minding her own business until her performance was crashed.
The story goes that an evil corporation is trying to take over vinyl city using computer generated music like EDM and stuff like that. These bosses are the main creators of this and they’re trying to stop them from destroying Vinyl City.
This game looks very ps2-ish in gameplay and presentation so I’m definitely going to keep this on my radar because games like this rarely appear nowadays
You have no idea how hard it is to find classical music and EDM mashed together in complete Harmony on and off RU-vid. Music like this is extremely rare.
this game got style and awesome music, but i wish they showed more teamwork in this demo, for now second character just seems useless. also both of them are really annoying and honestly it looks like they are the bad guys.
@@viniciusgabriel10 I hope they make the protagonists at least somewhat likable. If both of them are just jerks than it can be hard to actually see them as heroes and not bullies. It would help if we had there backstory and more info about them.
i think it would be better and more simple if the second character was not present. hes awkwardly sitting there while you attack and takes no damage for the sake of not turning this into an escort game.
oh so this is where the 1st track on the approach mix from the ost plays interesting to see an older build... nice audio quality for a lot of the sounds /s yinu looks pretty dead inside with those eyes lol also fun fact: the unfinished animations are actually still in the files today
Sounds like the South East Asian English accent. Either Malaysian or (more probably imo) Singaporean. The "Cheh" at 6:53 seems to me like a dead giveaway. Ngl, I'm SEAsian myself but I hate the sound of it too 😂
So, the sound design with the protagonists is pretty at odds with this being a music-themed game. Random sounds and riffs keep you from enjoying the score, when the protagonists should be complementing or outdoing it with their own. Could stand to learn from Crypt of the Necrodancer and DOOM
Okay, I’m getting tired of saying this individually, so here’s the skinny on the context. This girl and 5 other EDM artists are a part of an evil label, which is using up all of Vinyl City’s electricity. Essentially a dictatorship over what kind of music counts a music as well. Mayday and Zuke (Orange and Green respectively) are try to dethrone them and get back the city’s electricity and freedom of music choice. This mother seems to be the one pulling the strings of her daughter, using her for her talent alone to hold her position.
people complaining about the gameplay dont seem to realize its a callback to a different time for games. It feels very classic arcade/ something double fine wouldve made way back. Good nostalgia vibes 4me
I'm glad ppl are acknowledging that Mayday and Zuke seem more like bullies than protagonists. Cause how they acted toward Yinu, calling her music boring... how am I supposed to root for someone who talks trash towards a kid and her entire genre? Isn't that what the villain in a basic film like Trolls World Tour was doing?
i love the voice acting in this game so much, especially as a malaysian. it's nice to hear people speak in your country's accent in games since that's a big rarity for malaysians
That music... smells like Funk Fiction... *_Looks it up_* Yup. It's Funk Fiction. And he's making music for the bad guys. You're gonna make me kill what I love
i do like how seemingly eveyr character has a unique accent so far, gives the game a unique feel, even if its cause the game is made in another country XD
I still come back to this every now and then, because I really like this edm version more then the final one, as well as the rain in the penultimate phase.
You're not the only one, I wish they kept most of the visuals, vfx, and certain design choices they made during the Demo versions and the trailers. I loved Sayu and 1010s visuals on their fights. Yinu and DJ had the most impactful fights with the environment changing. EvE and Tatiana were not shown due to eve being a very hard character to design and Tatiana due to spoilers. But I just wish they kept most of the choices from earlier stages of the game.
I kinda wish they kept Yinu's devious grin when she derailed from the original melody, gave her a more menacing tone than the grimace she makes now, but still a great boss/character regardless.
People are complaining about these guys being villains but the piano girl is a part of a evil business that involves only Edm in a city that accepts all music. So it makes sense
This was the first demo, and i noticed that some things had changed, like Yinu's Smirk at the first part, when the mother appeared, even the music! It's still amazing but- Yinu's smirks shows more power- and they changed it to an Angry emotion-
The peeps saying the va is bad Are TECHNICALLY calling Malaysians cringey. Which they are. Majority of em are. But still tho. Its rare for them to actually voice in games.
Voice acting has nothing to do with race of the voice actor. People are calling it cringey because they don't like the voices of the characters, not because the voice actors are Malaysians. I bet no one even knew they were Malaysians either until you mentioned it or they recognize the accent.
8:47 dubstep 8:53 disco 9:00 digital. Other forms of music that will probably or definitely be in this game: • classical (as shown in this video) • rap • country • pop • remix? • Jazz • hip hop? • EDM since rock is the main style of music that this game focuses on, there's no need to list that. rock
@Genki Arcanist I'm just being ironic, I understand the situation, but the way she acts looks entitled xD (I can understand how a father or a mother could act on a moment like that)
OMG! This is gorgeus! Is only a demo and I got goosebumps! This is music with gameplay and I love it! Who is working on the music? His or her work is kind of familiar to me.
I like this version a tiny bit more than than the more recent one. Having the phases playout in front of you feels better and it just seems more challenging with the more frequent notes
Same here! Reminds me of the inside of Milla Vodello's mind in Psychonauts. Even the characters look like smoother looking versions of characters that could be in Psychonauts.
I like the rebelliousness of the whole thing. Like fighting for what you feel is right but not necessarily something others will understand or empathize with you for. Using music as a motif is kinda brilliant too for that sort of message since it's often associated with rebellious people. Side note: I'm greatly influenced by music, even on this channel i have like 20 or so playlist of just things I find here on youtube that I listen to on the way to work, in classes, etc. I usually listen to music to make me feel a specific way so when I hear the main character strumming on her guitar real fast to make that turret- it feels like weaponized rebellion in music. Idk, I'm a fan.
> protagonists crash a little girl's concerto > makes fun of her speech problems > afterwards beat up their angry mom Why are we supposed to root for these guys again?
I've been looking for this game for a while. Got to chat with some of the people working on this at a certain convention. Managed to voice out my concerns for the game, mainly the voice acting. Told them it looks freaking awesome tho.
A year later, and there's been a LOT of refinement towards the HUD and elements towards the game from this demo it's pretty shocking at that! This fight alone got a lot of touch ups and better animations! The Zipper cuts for the images was a cute touch, but how they went about it for the final I think just fows and looks a lot better and smoother!
