How to use the features of the Autel line of TPMS tools. This video covers vehicle selection, sensor information, Relearn procedures, and writing sensor ID's to PCM. For more information go to www.Auteltech.com
You've done the best job in describing these tools. It is pretty ridiculous the lack of available tutorials that are out there to promote these tools. I hope they paid you because it definitely convinced me to purchase the TS601. Thank you!
I have a 2006 and 2008 Toyota Tacoma each with two sets of tires and rims (all season and winter). The TS501 worked well at reprogramming the system after changing the tires.
I want to tank you for taking your time and a big efford to do a complete review of these tpms tools. On your video I've found the information that I was looking for. I am really greatful
This was an awesome video you did a great job explaining the difference in these tools and how to operate them. The only question I have on these tools is the cost to update after the free update period Is over. and thanks again you definitely convinced me to purchase one of these tools most likely the ts501.
I have a 2017 Honda Pilot. Dealer ordered me a set of Black OEM custom wheels with sensors and installed the stock tires. I used the stock rims, and installed Winter tires. All wheels have Honda OEM sensors. Can I use these tools when I swap sets to relearn? Do I need any other tools? Dealer wants an hour labor each time they reset it. What is the minimum model I can get to do this? Thanks.
The Autel tools do not have the relearn process in them for the 2017 Honda just yet. I am sure it will come... My best recommendation would be to return the sensors to the dealer, order the TS408 and 4 Autel MX sensors. Do a copy by activation on each sensors. This would make your winter tires and summer tires have the same IDs. When you do the switch the vehicle will no know because the vehicle will already be looking for those IDs.
So basically 501 & 601 do the same thing on the TPMS side? The 601 having the diagnostic ability, that would be a waste of money for me to spend as I already have the Solus scanner? Thanks for your time and the great video!
+Kristopher Thomas That is correct the TS501 and TS601 have the same capabilities for TPMS . If you already have a professional level scan tool there is no need to upgrade to the TS601.
Quick question! For a 2007 crv, using the ts401, I would need an OB2 port tool to connect to the PCM? In order to have the vehicle relearn the sensors. Is that correct? Unless, using either the ts501 or ts601. One other thing to note, I'd be using OEM tpms sensors. PS: Awesome video!
Yes you have to connect to the OBD2 port to write the sensor IDs. You can do this with a professional scan tool or by using the TS501, TS508, TS601, and/or TS608. Even with OE sensors.
I have a TS501 tpm-only scan tool. I installed a new DVT sensor onto my 2014 Tundra. The TS501 has read all the sensors, but I haven't been able to figure out how to transfer the TPM info from the TS501 to the vehicle. Everything I've read & viewed says to just plug the TS501 into the OBD-II connector and download the stored data, however, there doesn't seem to be a download/transfer option, at least I haven't figured out how to access it.
After you have read all of your sensors you will see a box in the top right corner that, when highlighted, says "diagnostics". Select "Diagnostics>TPMS Diagnostics> Write Sensor ID's
I have sensors but am getting new tires and wheels with new tpms. To sync up the new ones which Autel tool should I try? ( it’s for a 2009 Subaru Legacy)
I have a TS601 and did the newest update. I am trying to re-learn TPMS Sensors for a 2014 toyota camry and the device shows that the sensors should be 433Mhz, however the vehicle owners manual shows that they are 315mhz and the device does not detect the sensors. Is there a way to return to the pre-update software? I wish I never did the update for the new software. Any Ideas?
Oddly enough mine did the same thing. If you go into Settings>Market switch it over to Euro go into Camry and will will only show 433. Go back to Settings>Market and change back to America. Go back to Camry and it will show 3 options all 315mhz. Hope that helps
I just got an email from Autel Support about this issue. They are aware of the issue and are working to correct it. For now the switch back and forth works.
Joe Chitussi Yes, with the supplied OBD2 cable you can read the sensors and write IDs to the pcm. you can also clone Autel MX-SENSORS to make a duplicate set or sensors for the vehicle
Depends on the Schrader sensors you got. The EZ sensors are blank and must be programed with their specific tool. If the sensors have already been programmed, then yes, the Autel tools will pick them up and do the relearn no problem
@@FlashPerformance Thanks! I called up Schrader, mine are programmed. Ended up getting the Autel TS508. Autel said it can talk to the vehicle computer as well. Will give it a try in the next week or so.
Yes, according to the Coverage at www.maxitpms.com/getCoverage.jspx. You would have to select Euro market coverage to get the 2018 Montero but yes there is coverage for OBD relearn
hello, FIRST....THANK YOU, for posting the BEST VIDEO I HAVE FOUND EXPLAINING THESE TOOLS.....much better than autels website, I wish they would get their act and info together...anyyways... I notice this was done a year ago...just curious... I spoke with autel and they said the 501 and 601 did the exact same thing when it came to TPMS stuff...even being able to read /erase codes and view live date pertaining to TPMS stuff..they said the only difference is the 501 couldn't read and clear obd2 codes and such like a regular scan tool could do.....(which is ok bc I already own the md802 all systems) so anyways....I bought the autel ts501k...is this true...can the 501 do those extra TPMS stuff now that you say only the ts601 could do. (read erase and do live tpms data?)
You are correct, in the past year Autel has been upgrading the software in there TPMS tools. The TS501 can now read and erase codes, but only in the TPMS module. The TS601 can read and erase codes in the TPMS module and for generic OBD2 along with some bidirectional controls in the TPMS module, like tire size adjustment and PSI adjustment on some applications.
Thank you for this video, i was going to buy ts401 first, but yeah it cant program tpms sensors to ecu. Seems that TS501 can via OBD2 and my exact car model is suppored. Ordered one, hope it works.
No the MaxiCheck Pro will not cover what the TS line of products will. The TPMS functions have been removed from the MaxiCheck Pro. Prior to discontinuing the TPMS functions the MCP could only write sensor IDs to the PCM you would still need a TS401 to read sensor IDs from the wheel.
So the maxi check pro can no longer write the ID into the PCM? I have just purchased the ts401 and I read the IDs and now I’d like to write these IDs into my pcm. Which scan tool is fairly cheap and can do that?
Hi i buy TS 401 and can not programming Porsche Cayman 2014 ,it reads the valves but has no guide to start on schedule you have some information to help me ,thanks
+Flavio Machado The vehicle should now be driven for up to 25mins in order for the sensors to be recognized by the vehicle. All other sensors should be more than 20 feet away from the vehicle at all times. If a 25 minute drive above 20mph has not successfully reset the system, redo the reset procedure but before driving, deflate each tire 5-8psi, reinflate to the door placard spec, then drive for up to 30 miles continuously. Information found at: www.tpmsdirect.com/Porsche_TPMS_Relearn_Procedures_HUF_RDE010_RDE011_a/841.htm
Most of the time it comes down to a sensor that the battery has gone bad. Every tire shop now has the right equipment to test the TPMS system to find out what the issue may be. Prices very depending on where you are in the country. Guess around $100 to get a sensor replaced. The shop will need to remove the tire, replace the sensor, rebalance the wheel, and relearn the sensor.
If you are using a TS501, TS508,TS601, TS608 you can connect to the OBDII connector and pull the sensor ID's from the PCM and do what Autel calles "Copy By OBD". If that is not an option just do an auto create and do the relearn process.
@@FlashPerformance1 What a bummer! Is there a cheap scan tool that can do TPMS ID programming? I only need TPMS ID programming as I have 3 cars in my family that 2 sets of tires each for winter and other. I need the ability to edit the ECU to change IDs as needed twice a year. Any idea?
First, I would make sure that you have completely updated the tool. You can find a video for that here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5FOV5mUuiG0.html Second, after you select the Year Make and Model select the "?" button. This will give you the step by step relearn procedure for your vehicle. On a 2013 Toyota Sienna they had both 433Mhz and 315Mhz. If you go "Tool Kit" from the home screen> RKE & RF Monitor, you can press the key fob to find out what Mhz the system is running. Third, when you read through the relearn process you will see that it requires you to connect to OBD2 to write sensor ID's. The TS401 doesn't have that function, it will require a MaxiCheck Pro, MX808, or professional level scan tool to do that step.
I can't read the sensor in my car, is there a setting where it will pick up any frequency so I can determine if the sensor in the tire is working and possibly they installed a sensor for another car? Also it's strange that both the 2011malibu and Prius both have 315 but after reading the Malibu's I go to the Prius and doesn't read anything. When I switch to Prius it reads the Prius right away. Makes me think I have to select every possible car option to see what sensor they installed in my wheel. I have the ts508
There is not a search function on the TS tools from Autel. There are many different frequencies inside 315mHz. 315.1, 315.2, 315.3 etc. The 315 mHz is just the base frequency, so going from the Malibu to the Prius is not going to work the same because they will be on different sub frequencies. If the Malibu does not read you can try going up a year or down a year on the tool to see if you can pick it up. It could be that the sensor is bad or that the sensor is locked to a sub frequency that the Malibu can not see.
Oh wow thanks for the answer. Must be a different sub frequency than I expect. I was so confused because I thought there was only the 2 frequencies. Thank you.
Yes, you would want to choose a TS501 or better. TS501, TS601, TS508, TS608. You will need to be able to connect via OBD to the vehicle. Any of these units would work perfect for you.
The Schrader EZ sensors are blank, and the Autel tool can not program them. However once they are programmed the Autel can learn them. If you have an Autel tool I would recommend the Autel MX sensors, most of the parts stores and tire distributors now sell them. They are also at a great price point.
@@FlashPerformance1 I have Schrader sensors on four tires on a '11 Ram 1500. Can I install new Autel sensors and Schrader sensors on my truck? One sensor just went dead. Or, can I install and program a new Schrader sensor with the Autel TS501 tool? I have the equipment to break the bead on a tire to remove and replace the sensors. My Ram 1500 supposedly auto-learns the sensors, but in the past, that has not gone well.
The TS401 is used as an activation tool to activate the sensors and get the sensor ID. The sensor ID can be used with a professional level scan tool to program the sensor IDs to the PCM. Autel wanted to give the customer a cost effective way to activate sensors.
Yes, It is done with an OBD2 relearn. This can be done with the TS501, TS508, TS601, TS608. All coverage can be found at www.maxitpms.com/getCoverage.jspx
Any sensors that are information ready. These include OE, VDO, Dorman, John Dow, etc. Some sensors are blank like EZ sensors, Orange, Alligator, Cub.- the Autel tools will not work with any blank sensor except Autel MX Sensors. Once the MX Sensors are programmed any tool can read them.
I just got the ts501, it came with 8 autel sensors( are they blank? ) but I can't seem to get the tool to read any of the sensors that came with it , on the other hand any sensor I get at the parts store reads it just fine , just wondering if I have to activate them first or whats the secret ,I'd hate to see them go to waste !!! thanks
Yes, the Sensors that come in the TS501K are blank. You have to program them before installing them on a vehicle. The process is simple to do. Select The Year, Make, and Model of vehicle, select the box in the bottom right corner that has a picture of a sensor and select "Auto Create" This will create a sensor specific for that vehicle.
Thank you for your reply . I guess there must be something wrong with the sensors I've got with the scanner , I tried every single one in the box and I am getting this message "write file to sensor error ! but when I do that on other sensors I get from Advance auto or autozone , everything works well in a matter of seconds !
I struggled to answer your questions on this on. The TS501 and TS601 can not manually enter the IDs into the PCM, but I'm not really sure why you would want to. To enter the Sensor IDs you simply scan all of the sensors and select write sensor IDs and the tool does all the work for you. The only reason I can think of to manually enter the IDs is because the sensor didn't transmit the signal to the Tool and in that case the sensor would not transmit to the car so the sensor would not work anyway. Manual entry of sensor IDs can be found in all of the MaxiSys tools.
I'm sorry for making you confuse. The reason why I'm asking you it's because I'm working with 2016 Corolla and when I'm trying to Scan the sensor using my ts501 it won't work, but when I use my ts401 it work. when I play around with my ts501 no way you can register the I'd manually. So I was just wondering if you can do it on TS 601? Thanks for replying to my massage I do appreciate it.
I understand your logic now and that makes sense. There are a few things I would try, first, make sure that your TS501 is up to date. All of the updates are free. You can find that process here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bPS8fZH7Edg.html. If that doesn't work we need to get the VIN number for that car to the engineering team at Autel so they can look into the issue.
can you please check if the TS601 special function is the manual I'd register to ECU? if it is, I'm just gonna buy the TS601 and return my TS501 thank you .
4:50 Honda? My Acura s a honda product, honda parts, and when I installed my TPMS, it was automatic. I did not program anything in the ECM. If you change a wheel sensor, it should go through its own cycle and re-establish communications by itself.
The Autel MX-1sensor is a single sku sensor that works for both 315 and 433 mHz sensors. I recommend using the 1Sensor for ease of use and low inventory. The Autel TPMS tools can clone using the Autel MX sensors, but it can relearn any pre programmed sensor, and any information ready sensor like VDO, John Dow, Ori-Teck, and any OE sensor. Check out this video for more sensor informaiton ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vwMxHx8WoYw.html
Just talked to honda (local and ebay) about the oem honda sensors they said the oem has to be programmed would you know if that means they can be cloned from the autel tools?
@@benl4707 Each TPMS sensor has its own ID, That sensor transmits it information out and the vehicle looks for that specific ID and captures the information the sensor is transmitting. If we didn't do it this way your vehicle would pick up TPMS sensors from other vehicles driving down the road. When they say the sensor has to be programmed they are correct, we have to program that sensors ID to the vehicle. This way the vehicle will know to use that sensors information. Honda requires an OBD2 relearn. This means we scan all the sensors, plug into the OBD2 port and write the sensor IDs to the vehicle. This can be done with the TS501, TS508, TS601, TS608 from Autel.
Our shop has the TMPS TS501 that has frozen up. It reads The vehicle program is not authorized...… It is stuck with this message on the screen. We took the back off and disconnected the battery. Plugged it back up, and still reads the same. Has anyone every run into this problem?
The TS401 allows you to clone OEM to Autel TPMS sensors so you don't need to mess withe the PCM using the 501 or 601. Just another option since I own the 401.
So basically there are 4 frequenties where tpms operate with over the world, how many frequenties is autel working with ? because to my knowledge snap on is or was the only one using all 4 frequenties.....
That's interesting, the frequencies I'm aware of are 125 kHz, 315 mHz and 433 mHz. What is the fourth TPMS frequency you are referring to? And yes, the Autel MaxiTPMS tools can communicate via all three frequencies.
When you have a scan tool in the market, you upgrade it rather than downgrade it. Autel just did that with the MaxiCheck Pro by removing the TPMS capability. Why?
OBD2 connection. The TS501 does not have the ability to connect via OBD2 to write sensor ID's the TS508 does: Correction: The TS501 does have OBD connection. The TS508 is the newer version
@@FlashPerformance False info friend, u either dont know or just pretend to know, both have obd connection, difference is quick mode & advance mode function/option, very welcome.
deal with this company you will be sorry try to return a tpms tool shipped from US you have to contact credit card company you used to get them to respond then they will accept return but you have to send it to China
