In this video I briefly go over one of my favorite TPMS tools. I love my Bartec 400sd but I am really liking the Autel TS508 TPMS tool. It is inexpensive, free updates and works really well overall. -Enjoy!

Thanks to this video, I bought a ts508 and it worked great on our 2012 subaru outback. Never again will I have to take the time to go sit at the tire shop waiting for them to do the relearn when I swap wheels. Very helpful video, it can be quite confusing figuring out exactly what tools you need to read the sensors and perform the relearn. My tire guys don't quite seem to understand about cloning sensors.

G'day, Mr. O! Wow! Thumbs up!! The Importance of Having the Right Tools for the Job! If you ask anyone with a little experience in DIY for advice, the one thing that I've heard (even mum, has always said) time and time again is that you should always use the right tool for the job. Most of us have learnt this the hard way but, despite this, (as you know) many newcomers will still look for the quick-fix when they can. Not only does this result in a lacklustre job in the short-term, but it can also lead to much more problems down the line. Well, the Maxi TPMS TS508 a must have tool for an auto mechanic or just a do-it-yourselfer. Pays for itself after doing two vehicles! As noted: It can program, reprogram, relearn/retrain the tire pressure sensor. Great tool for the money! Thank you! Cheers! 😊✌🏼🛠❤️

I’m suprised you have good luck with aftermarket. I get lots of customers that come in saying “i already” changed the sensors. Only to find they are aftermarket. Then we put oe or oe style and they are good to go. Glad it’s worked out for you!

Was thinking about getting one of those TPMS tools. That looks like it works great... Most vehicles, you can skip the road test, just start the car then go around the car and activate each sensor with the tool and the TPMS module should pick up the activation's and turn out the light. Does not work on every vehicle but i would say 90% of the time this works for me.

After your last video using one of these tools, I was surprised to see you read Key FOB Data. I bought one the next day, just mainly for that feature. I had a few Key FOBs that did not work or would not program. This tool confirms that the FOB is transmitting from each button and takes the frustration out of NOT knowing if the FOB, Button, and Battery are functioning. This makes Key FOB repair and function testing easy, which then helps you in ensuring that you are programming a "Functioning FOB" to the vehicle. (Often a FOB only needs a battery, battery contact cleaning, and/or Button Contact Cleaning. You can do this on the bench and verify each key function without the car. I do not have access to a tire machine, so TPMS functions are only for reading each sensor, reading sensor data, and primarily re-learning tire positions after tire rotation. Those functions can make this tool valuable for the DIY'r just for FOB & Tire Rotation functions alone. Interesting Video showing what the tool can do.

Superb video, I bought the TS501 in the uk for doing my own vehicles around the £180mark (buy the sensors for around £22/4 ea, when needed e.g. i aint a mechanics shop), but the TS508 comes as a kit (with 8 sensors) in the UK for around the £350 mark. So good reasonably priced system for small shop or diy, as long as you only use the autel sensors.

The shop i work at switched to Autels over Schrader. I like the TPMS tool much more. It gives you a lot more options and seems to trigger sensors from a lot further away. Also allows you to reprogram the vehicles computer to look for whatever pressures you set it to. Helpful when installing 10 plys that need a higher pressure than most stock 1/4 ton trucks

I've been using the TS508 for about 6 months. I love the tool, not so much the Autel MX sensors, I installed 3 in my 2007 Jeep GC 5,7 Limited. I cloned them from the existing sensors. They initially all showed up in the EVIC. Subsequently they would drop out when the vehicle was left parked over night. Then they would randomly drop out while driving. I did an OBD relearn with some improvement but still with random drop outs from the EVIC and flashing TPMS warning light. Autel acknowledged there are issues with some OEM's as they use a different method of sending the data to the ECU. I checked the Autel scan tool users Facebook page. There are known issues with Jeep Grand Cherokee, Compass, and Liberty. Also Toyota. I continue to use the tool, but I switched to VDO RediSensors.

@T-Wyler
@T-Wyler 2 года назад
It will relearn other brands but will not “program” other brands. If that makes sense? If you have a blank shrader sensor for example, it will not program it. If you have one that has existing info on it, it will relearn positioning, reset etc.

Autel for the win! I have this tool and i love it. At first I Didn't realize it would only program Autels a/m sensor but thats not a big deal. Either get theirs or go OEM. I use a $20 generic amazon tire tool for GM cars just because all i have to do is hit the button and go around the vehicle.
@SmittySmithsonite
@SmittySmithsonite 5 лет назад
Nice setup Autel has with their sensors. That's the only way to go, IMO. Way cheaper than anywhere else. I bought the Maxisys 906TS just about 3 years ago, since it had the TPMS tool built in. Figured I'd get a lot of use out of it - I haven't used the feature once! I didn't realize at first that you can't fail inspection in MA for the tire light. Anyone that knows that just deals with the light - they don't want to spend the money. Can't blame them there. This state has their hands in every one of their pockets - might as well save a buck where you can. I got sick of doing the in-vehicle relearn of the sensors long ago in the Silverado. Have to do it every 6 months, since I have 2 sets of wheels & tires for summer and winter. That got old after the 1st year! Removed the sensors from the winter wheels, sold them on eBay, and stuck regular valve stems in. I just deal with the light all winter long. I prefer a tire gauge! Oh the humanity! 😂
@AS768
@AS768 4 года назад
On BMWs, the sensors just get flashed outside the car, don't even need data from old sensors and put them on the wheels. The tool knows this, and doesn't waste your time giving you relearn options that only apply to other cars. This tool is the real deal!
@AS768

(The reason I mention BMW specifically is that I work at a dealership), we just started using this tool for our off brand cars that get traded in too. On my bimmer, I used these sensors for my winter tires and they work great.

Fun & games with TPMS. The TPMS malfunction light was on in my daughter's 10yo hi-YOON-day. The Buffalo-based tire chain (the one I'm I'm DONE with) sells aftermarket sensors for $100 installed & programmed; when we got there , the guy said he couldn't program hi-YOON-day and we'd have to go to the dealer. Dealer wanted $95 diagnostic fee, plus $130 per sensor, plus $ridiculous for programming. On a whim I called a non-chain local tire shop - $65 installed and programmed, and hi-YOON-day was no problem. A few weeks later, all the staff at the chain store had training on new TPMS computers; I wonder if they can do hi-YOON-day now?

Yep, they sell all kinds of pre-programmed sensors. You can buy them from numerous people. You can get them for about 1/4 of the price he is paying for these Autels. They jack the price of so much on the sensors that you're not even getting a free tool. I can buy all four sensors for about 15.00 already programmed. You are paying 15 to $30 for One Autel.

A Swiss electronics youtuber Andreas Spiess recently reverse engineered TPMS sensors to use them to monitor beer fermentation. Interesting look inside the blackbox. One thing I learned is that they only transmit when moving or interrogated, unless the pressure is changing rapidly then they transmit. So putting off having that slow leak repaired is draining your TPMS battery and probably means sooner replacement needed. video title: #261 Measure Pressure Remotely (including TPMS Hacking / Attack) for Beer Brewing
