Krupam kind of scary if you think about the "Light of lights" has to a bsdsm tentacle queen which has 90% bigger ovaries than most living beings on Kalimdor
Nobbel messed this video up for me when he said Azshara's motives weren't selfish, I chuckled and thought: "No, with her new form and new 'friends', I'd say her motives were VERY shellfish".
I really hope the final boss of this expansion is N'Zoth just as that little fish flying around decapitating people like the rabbit from Monty Python lol
That is true, but I believe she truly did cut him down to size (so to speak lol) when she truly didn't care whether he was an old god or not, I think he had to legitimately give her much more power than he planned too. I mean did you hear that scream of a absolute rage, dude was not happy. She seems to be on a far more even playing field than he intended at the very least.
@@perseus4444 mate please it's N'zoth we are talking about here. He played her like he wanted, I doubt his rage was genuine. He watched her for a thousand years he KNEW how narcisstic she is. She just played right into his scheme
+MrGemitri Well it's a deal. Azshara saved her people and retained her autonomy. The other part of the deal is she works towards N'zoth's goals. She didn't "play into Nzoth's scheme" so much as she straight up agreed to help lol.
She did SOMEWHAT care for her people, but by people she only meant Highborne. Also, when in this cinematic she saves her people, she says "This is MY empire...". She wasn't saving her people, she was saving "her empire". Not the same thing.
I don't know if many people noticed, but I liked the detail of the fish's voice sounding like Azshara at first in 1:38 . It's a reference to how the Old God's whispers work. At one point it was explained that the whispers are indistinguishable from one's own thoughts, in the beginning. And that as the process goes on, they become louder and more demanding until the person completely loses control.
The build up for this was worth it. We better get the reborn black empire in the next expansion otherwise I’m gonna be pissed! Don’t forget nobble N’zoth’s eyes were different sizes so we still don’t know how big his body actually is which in turn makes this a lot more terrifying then it already is.
CHRSS111 I believe Yogg-saron was the most cunning. N'zoth seems to have outplayed Y'sharaaj though, since after winning the war between the two and Y'sharaaj's victory, we know which one eventually got plucked out of Azeroth for being too powerful instead of 'just' being imprisoned.
Wormy Y’shaarj was plucked because he was the most powerful. The other three Old gods were left because Aman’Thul realised that he Old gods burrowed too much into the world soul.
omg i'm dying, I watched the cosplay at gamescom and EVERYBODY was writing the turtle sentence, I was laughing so much, I confirm this as the sentence of the expansion XD
It would be perfect if BfA *ended* with the rise of the Black Empire. That way, we have an x-pac where we, the heroes, actually *lose*. Then the next x-pac will begin with us trying to scheme against the Old Gods and their rule. Also, I still believe Azshara saving her people was selfish. Because if she allowed them to die, then no one would be left to praise her as Queen, right? They were seen as her "things", her "possessions".
I too thought at first that she acted a bit out-of-character as she didn't act selfish in the beginning. But on second thought, it's completely selfish if you think about it. Everything she wants is to have an empire that she can rule over as queen. It's what she wants from the elves, from Sargeras, from N'zoth. Now when she saw the wave destroying the city, she saw her empire crumble. She even said 'I am queen. This is the empire I built'. You see, if all she wanted was to save her life, she would have casted an arcane bubble for her. But then the city would have been destroyed with all the people and without any people to rule over, she wouldn't be queen. She would be nothing. In this aspect, Azshara and N'zoth are exactly alike. This is why she understood him so well and knew exactly how she could threaten him.
Sc4rlite She saw her legacy crumbling, everything she lived for. She was an embodiment of not only the aristocracy in their culture, but basically a living god, everyone respected her and she needed to maintain her image.
I'm fairly certain that the black goat with seven eyes refers to Y'shaarj because he had seven heads and there were seven Sha. And additionally, I don't think that Azshara's attempt to save her people was for anybody but herself. Knowing how she's acted in the past, it would make sense that she would wish to preserve subjects to rule over, because otherwise no one would be able to serve her and she would be queen of nothing. Her desires revolve entirely around her desire to be supreme over everyone and everything.
I definately think that the seven eyes refers to Y'shaarj as well, considering him being a seven headed figure, being split into the seven Sha of Pandaria. The Puzzlebox was after all added in Cataclysm, before we got to know about Y'shaarj, or much information about N'zoth. I am sincerely hoping for a return of the Black Empire, with Ny'alotha being at the center of it all, a city of such pristine beauty, that only the truly mad can appreciate it's glory. Because as Knaifu Xal'atath says "This city of elves pales in comparison to the sleeping city...", being that Suramar is not as beatiful or as large as Ny'alotha. Shath'mag vwyq shu et'agthu, Shath'mag sshk ye! Ag'rr hazz ak'yel ksh ga'halahs pahg!
And so the Sha was never there, his heart never corrupted Garrosh, and the Klaxxi just lied to us about his influence still being active? Y'shaarj may have been dead, as in ripped out of the planet by Aman'thul, but he is still very much active. He still whispered until his heart stopped beating. Being dead for a Old God, does not seem to be the same as being dead as a mortal race. Even after death, their blood, flesh or anything else remaining, still attempts to corrupt whatever touches it. And it's called the Puzzle box of Yogg Saron, not the Puzzle box of Azshara. Not everything in it needs to reference her spesifcally, nor even N'zoth or Ny'alotha.
Not really. If anything, N'zoth came out on top. He didn't really lose anything by playing into Azshara's narcissism, and now he can use her as a puppet and her army. Azshara just gets to live and keep the fantasy of ruling going.
N'zoth is weak though (for an old god), before becoming a Naga Azshara was at least on par with Kil'Jaeden in terms of power and he was only second to Sargeras and the other Titans. Azshara might be blinded by her arrogance but I doubt she is fully controlled by N'zoth, they are both playing each other most probably.
At the very least, it was a huge shot to his pride. She rejected his offer, The one that he had planned for a thousand years most likely, and made it on her terms. He wanted her as a slave, but she DEMANDED to be on an almost even playing field with him. That was like slapping him in the face. She then refused to cry out and give in, forcing him to empower her in the way that she wanted.
He's not in control of her though. That was part of it. He wanted a subject/slave. For her to give herself over to him completely instead of dying. She saw right through his plan and forced his hand. She got all the power but seeminly none of the strings. She serves at his side as his queen not as one of his servants or generals.
the black goat with 7 eyes is yashraaj he got many eyes and have horns , also hes trapped outside mean in moon thats why you see darkmoon fairy event with yashraaj on the flag
@@maljayworldstar776 yeah I think that was a deliberate mislead from them. Battle For Azeroth seems to really mean to save Azeroth, the planet itself, save the planet after Sargeras big sword stabbed down in Silithus and Azeroth is bleeding azerite and dying. The real Battle For Azeroth :)
N'zoth loving deal, Zandalari drums when he appear and when Azshara transform... Bwonsamdi saying he has a boss... it's paper thin but it's here...we're in trouble
I recall that Azshara used the scepter three times. One to make the bubble, two to provide them with light and three, to give them oxygen. Of course the third time it didn't work and then she started listening to the whispers. I could be wrong. It's been a year since I read the lore of this artifact.
People hovering over how N'zoth is still in control of this partnership are missing the forest for the trees. Of course he is control, no one is saying Azshara is, hes literally a GOD. but this god addressed her as his queen, and its clear he wasnt going to do that originally. You need to give her credit where it is due, she bargained from a position of nothing and basically came out with her life, her title, and power, and not with the strings like Guldan. Even with all his power, N'zoth needed Azshara to make the deal, she was content with refusing it. And thats the point: she had leverage over an OLD GOD
You think he cares about calling her a queen? That's what he does, he would even call her Pupper McFluffer if she wanted so. As You said he watched her for a thousand years and knows how she works. All she has is really N'zoth's
you dont give slaves titles without at least granting a little more authority. And you don't let a mere mortal give you lip without swallowing a little bit of pride. Hes literally a GOD, but sure i guess any thousand-years-old being of immense power that once ruled the world would be perfectly fine kissing ass to the equivalent of an ant larva. It also shows why he is the smartest of the Old Gods, because he does not let his pride get in the way of opportunity, which is ironic because Azshara's pride is why she gets more out of the bargain.
N'Zoth pretty much locked Azshara in loyalty, unlike our Gul'Dan to the Legion. He wasn't made loyal, he was threatened. Azshara was made loyal because N'Zoth let her think she's in control, but she's not. She's doing exactly what he wanted her to do, but willingly. Sure he gave her a title, but he doesn't care at all about that, all he wants is his empire back, and it's Azshara that's getting it for him. And for the demons, the really strong ones weren's head over heels, Mannoroth was scared shellless, he saw through her "fake" aura that makes others fall in love with her, he just saw her immense power, on par with KJ/Archimonde. Now she's powered up by N'Zoth though, so just because we killed them doesn't mean we'll easily kill her too. (And we lost our ever so powerfull artifact weapons)
Aaaaaaam, no? She literally says "take my people", that doesn't sound at all like "save my people". That sounds like "I will sacrifice my people for my own sake of being the queen that I am as payment".
One evil fish, to rule them all! I saw in Wowhead a comment about how the pilars could be taken as bars from a cell. Keeping the wild beast trapped. Many, many hidden stuff in the scenes, I like it. PS: Azshara has the pants well placed. One does not simply out-deal an Old God xD (Insert Boromir meme here)
When I first watched the Azshara warbringer and seeing how she tried to block out the water from the city, I thought that she wanted to save her people. However, after having watched all of it, and then seen that scene again, I now think that she might have done it because she built this empire. She doesn't want her work to be destroyed. It's her perfect city, it cannot be destroyed!
You say they made it seem like she chose to serve the Old Gods as a way to save her people, but she says "take my people" not "save my people". Even when she was holding back the water from destroying her city she wasnt trying to save her people, she was trying to save her kingdom. She only cares about being a powerful Queen.
But it might be just a lie to not appear weak. She wanted to look though in front of tentacle boy and a "safe my people" would have given him leverage.
nayalotha is in shadowland also it said (walk only mad things ) you can't walk in water you swim , also thats nazjatar and the city drown is have another name forget what is called but its near to nazjatar name , and nazjatar become the sunken city , but nayalotha i believe its either shadowland or emerald nightmare
Why this warbrimger giving me the feeling that azshara knows that old gods are just using her and they will discard her when she has served her purpose
@@irethcoisss she was betrayed by sargeras so its only natural that she might have plan B and is waiting for the precise moment when she betray tge old god
You're initial reaction to when N'Zoth revealed himself and what was once his empire was priceless, lmao!!! Although I'm sure I was sporting the same look about that time too. 😂
This makes me happy on so many levels because I'm reading Lovecraft now and to see the influence being projected into Old Gods and other stuff is absolutely amazing. Hands down the best of the Warbringers and I love the previous two A LOT.
im a little upset they didnt show her deal with the burning legion or atleast show the war of the ancients ending and then go to her city sinking. but this will do
I'm sad N'zoths voice doesn't sound like his brothers voices. Soft, smooth and treachery in every word but N'zoths voice sounds so damn brutal and destructive
"Madness will consume you!" "He will learn his lesson before too long. No king rules forever, only DEATH is eternal!" Don't forget: "Hahahaha... AHAHAHAHAHAH!" And: "Your fate is sealed. The end of days is FINALLY upon you, and ALL who inhabit this MISERABLE little seedling. Uulwi ifis halahs, gag erhongg, W'SSHH!" The only three lines said by him calmly are through Sara once she's defeated. "I am the lucid dream.", "The monster in your nightmares." and "The fiend of a thousand faces." EVERY other line said by either him or Sara is screamed hysterically. I kind of like the way each Old God was a different character instead of a collective homogenous evil. Y'shaarj simply fed emotions in voices that befitted each one (as the Sha obvs) with anger being announced loudly and boldly, pride declaratively, doubt as a low but insistent mutter almost. C'thun was unearthly and unsettling plus disturbingly intimate, which befitted his character, and Yogg-Saron doesn't give a shit and spends all his time flailing and reaching and grasping and attacking hysterically, wildly, like a rabid, furious animal. They each had their own habits and character, and to me N'zoth seems to now as well. He's patient and unassuming but firmly demands obedience from those he *deigns* to offer servitude to him. It's why he's lasted longer than the rest, he picks his targets selectively and keeps a tight leash on his minions, attracting the minimum attention to himself so that any retaliation is targeted upon those individual minions. When great maws opened around Wymrest, we jumped in and killed the generals. When Deathwing tried to shatter the world, we killed him, and the brilliant part was: He let his plan there die with his minion. He let his threat seem defeated. He's a master tactician and leader, he commands respect, tolerates no refusal and understands to cut his losses. He turns your thoughts toward his aims the same way any of our leaders have. It may be unintended by Blizzard, but the resulting character is impressive.
Nobbel, I don't think that in the beggining she is trying to save her people. It's more like she's trying to save her empire, her work of art, you know? But later on it's like she's feeling the weight of all those deaths, just before the old god reaches out to her, so maybe you're right as well :/
It's worth noting Nobbel that the Central frame of the scene at 7 points in the animation that a circle or inner pupil is the focus, including the iris that is formed when she is drowning with her crown floating away and up.
I watched this short as soon as it went up, and when N'zoth made his appearance I got so overwhelmingly excited that I cried lol This is *definitely* my favourite of the Warbringers shorts. Not just because Azshara is my favourite lore character, but because they *nailed* the suspense and the struggle, and her haughty, queenly, conniving nature. *AND* we got to see a glimpse of *NYALOTHA* the city of the Old Gods! *AND N'ZOTH*
Commanding what though? She demanded to be called a Queen. She just got a title, she's still a servant. She's still doing N'soth's bidding. N'zoth won the Powerplay.
I don't know why so many people just sway away that IMMENSE achievement. Sure, N'zoth is in control. But he had to call her "my queen". Tell me of ONE other person who was able to get an old god to humiliate himself to that level. I highly doubt N'zoth said that because he wanted to. She put him in a situation where he had no choice but to do what she wanted of him.
Tell me one other person that made a deal with N'Zoth. He watched her for 1000 years... He knows how she works. He's said to be the weakest but the most tactical of the OG's so I don't think he would watch her for all that time and doesn't think of the possibility of her demanding for the title of "Queen" (which shouldn't mean anything to him as a God)
I personally think that the quote "Have you had the dream again? A black goat with seven eyes that watches from the outside." was a reference to Y'shaarj given that a result of his death brought forth the seven different Sha, but that might also be incorrect. Just a thought.
this expac will lay the foundation, next expac will be called "the black empire" or something to that effect. "rebirth of the black empire" or something.
I feel like Azshara saving her people may have also been mostly selfish. I think a lot of now Azshara identifies herself is as a Queen of her people. With out her people she would be a Queen of "nothing". She uses this as an insult against the old God saying basically ya you may be a god but your a god of nothing.
during the event where alleria is kicked out of silvermoon because of her effect on the sunwell, a void creature comes thru and refers to alleria as "the vessel"
it was also fun that Nzoth have this "ink" effect going on around the fish and Azshara (in their shot). Makes it look very similar to a specific scene in Jaina's arrival cinematic. When she spills the black ink on the map of stormsong valley. And it resembles inky tentacles that reach out towards stormsong valley from the sea. Taliesin made remarks about this in his video of the Jaina cinematic and I don't think there is a shadow of a doubt at this stage that was blizz plan all along :)
@@probablyanoldgod320 pretty sure that comes to play soon too since bwomsandi is basically shadowlands walker and he serves someone and I find kinda suspicious set-up in Calia Menethil being lightrisen undead, uther having his tomb revamped and arthas who was for few years master of shadowlands because of his lich kimg powers getting new model just for a cinematic... Shadowlands are going to be important
Azshara was stronger than Mannoroth and perhaps Kil’jaeden/Archimonde, but never Sargeras. Aegwynn slew the avatar of Sargeras, which is probably slightly more powerful than his lieutenants. But now Azshara is even more powerful than she were, and we have no idea about Aegwynn currently really. My money’s on the fish lady though.
azshara alive, maybe aegwynn could win, still probably not, but idk. aegwynn fought a mere avatar, and kiljaeden could beat the avatar of sargeras. but azshara after old god corruption wins.
Is this how all characters get corrupted by Oldgods? Offering power and a character makes own decision to sacrifice something in return. If so, if they are not becoming mindless slaves of Oldgods, then why people complain that Oldgods' corruption is lazy writing?
With Deathwing, I think he was resisting as long as he could and it drove him to insanity, and at that point he couldn't fight back anymore and fell to the old gods' wills. Otherwise he just immediately rejected his duties and helped them without resistance, which I doubt from one of the aspects meant to defend the planet.
Because it gives an excuse to any character, basically saying "because, the old gods". Sometimes it can work out well (Deathwing and Azshara), but it can be easy to slip up do it poorly. I think it's just the case that if any main character within the story does anything remotly troubling, then blizzard might end up going with the corruption by old god/Legion route. It's something to be cautious for. That's all.
I think Nyalotha is at the bottom of the ocean (where even the light must die) as a direct reference to where Cthulhu's city is in H.P. Lovecraft's mythos.
The layers of imageri are awesome alone. Not only does Azshara look like the pupil of N'zoth's eye. But she also looks like a baby in a womb, representing birth, especially when she is in foster position. Her rebirth. It's just damn beautiful.
Despite the lack of Sharas'dal and a couple other things, I adored this. I made a few connections, like with 'even light must die', the light could be Azshara, or as I noticed, the light in her eyes sort of went out when she screamed about the deal she'd made. Another thing I noticed and loved about this was how after her talk with N'Zoth, she starts out confident about her gambit. A few seconds pass, maybe a minute even. Less sure now, but still confident. Another moment passes, she wavers. Will this being take the deal? Another. Breath running out. Lungs burning- _PAIN._ _Unfathom-able_ pain. >:D I'll see myself out.
"To find him, drown yourself in the circle of stars." There's a HUGE emphasis on circles in this Warbringer. The fading circlet, the multiple frames of the fish eye with an inner circle.
What Aszhara did wasn't brave per se, however: she has nothing more to loose from refusing N'Zoth. However, N'Zoth revealed he's been locked down, unable to move, for over a thousand years, and wants her HELP in rebuilding the Black Empire. Hence, he commited the worst possible misstake in a negotiation: letting an opponent with a technical upper hand on you, know they have the upper hand. This is why he is enraged at first. His pride is hurt. He made a misstake. As the proposed master-schemer of the Five Old Ones.
Jonathan Borg not really. He just gave her a title, she is still his slave. A queen slave is still a slave. N’Zoth watched her for a thousand years, he knew she would never accept being a mere servant so he let her pretend she’s not.
