@@mamacoco820 no she definitely grew! She started off as a mom who was super detached from her kids lives. She valued her wigs more than her kids lol By the end of the series, you can tell her family is the most important thing to her. ❤ I love this show so much,I can watch it 1000 times and it never gets old!
Alexis’s last line is just…truth. David misunderstands and thinks everything comes easily for her (“skating” through life); what he doesn’t see is that she’s intentional, and the decisions she makes create opportunities for her (as she corrects him-“I *walk* through life.”) The opportunities are not falling out of thin air. She’s cultivating them by grabbing life by the horns and starting every day with an open mind and a positive attitude (“in really nice shoes.”) This is some of the most beautifully written life advice I have ever heard and it lives rent free in my head.
Alexis’ comments about her shoes seem deeper than most people give her credit for. There’s a saying that beautiful shoes will take you to beautiful places. Alexis makes the effort to bring beauty and positivity wherever shoes goes, so of course she gets opportunities. Sometimes she ends up in terrifying situations, but she tells those stories so nonchalantly, that it just goes to show how vibrantly positive she is. David misunderstands her as dismissive from episode 1, but when he finally takes her advice and tries to be more like her, he finds success because of her positivity.
Also a look on her character, about how she's always true to herself. She's Alexis, she likes nice things and that's how she will always be. No matter what situation she's in, she will get through it on her own terms. People pleasers like David (and me) tend to mask and change their outward appearance/character to be more likable, which also adds to the stress because it feels like putting on a show. But Alexis doesn't do that, she's always Alexis.
@@whatwhatwhattttttAlexis is the opportunist in this family. She reminds me of my sister. While our family was adjusting to moving from a farm to a foreign, rural life she was getting A's, graduating at 16, working since 14, getting a college scholarship, getting a linguistics degree and getting a job at MIT thats unrelated. Alexis has always relied on her charisma and confidence to get through many situations, like my sister relied on the work ethic she built up in childhood. People dont walk through life. David and Moira are the only ones who relied solely on money.
@@HCHSKaraokeher family certainly took care of her and bailed her out of tough situations, which she eventually recognized and so you’re right, her decision to graduate was a step toward her taking responsibility in her life. I just think that people don’t give her enough credit for what she had been bringing to the table all along. She and David were both privileged, but part of the reason she had opportunities that David did not is because of her attitude. She has enthusiasm, confidence, and an adventurous spirit that people are drawn to. She uses that to help David succeed in this episode.
Alexis deals a great life lesson when she says, "People aren't thinking about you the way you're thinking about you." In other words you're not the center of everyone's universe. ❤❤
Alexis is honestly so fkng smart. That quote is something I legit need to live my life by daily. “People aren’t thinking about you the way you’re thinking about you”
I know it’s just a tv show but what she said helped me , that no one cares…..it was a real good reminder that people aren’t invested or involved in your day or what you are doing.
This is amazing advice, like it does help to remind yourself you are not the MC in other ppls lives so don’t overthink what you think others are thinking lol
Totally true, people give no shits , especially at the DMV. If you can make someone laugh at the dmv you are in….actually making someone laugh anywhere is your golden ticket.
“I don’t skate through life I walk through life in really nice shoes” iconic she takes after Moire just two incredibly fabulous women #itstheschittscreke
What’s best from this episode is.. the point where David go on and on about how much he worried about Alexis and always on standby to the her rescue. If that doesn’t scream LOVE, well I don’t know what is 🥰
I haven't seen this show, but in this clip alone, Alexis is correct. It is rich that a tall good-looking man directs a comment like things don't just fall in everyone's lap, Yeah, even if you are a gay man, things fall in your lap more often than for women.
People do care, especially when they project their frustrations and expectations on you. We need not to care about other people and focus on what we care and prioritize. It’s also partially true that Alexis has used her pretty privilege to get away with problems and challenges in life.
I can relate to Daivd more than the shorter person in the car on that set. Isn't it kind of crazy too when believing that saying that one must walk all the time through life instead of just sitting in a car while meditating sound like being the crazier one after then too feeling offended by the word skating too?
Lol she's not Gen Z and privileged self-centered elitist vapid prissy girls have always been a thing looooong before Gen Z came along. Gen Z didn't invent narcissicism.
