The world will be a richer place when we fully recognize and appreciate Eva Green's considerable thespian gifts (and classic movie-star beauty). She repeatedly astonishes.
Why will it be richer? Will the world's food and energy shortages be solved? How does she astonish more than any other actor or actress? Because she looks good on screen? Geesh.
@@squirrelattackspidy Being a squirrel your soul is very small. If it were larger you would understand that the things that touch your soul enrich you in a way that is truly sublime. That is why humans create art, and rodents (who require only food and shelter) do not. But alas, the gods saw fit to make you a squirrel. (a talking squirrel though, so there's that)
@@PeBoVision Being a simple squirrel, perhaps you can explain to me in simple terms why you think this particular actress is "astonishing" for being an actress. Is she more astonishing than other actresses? All actresses create art. What makes her art "astonishing?" "“You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.” -Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride.
Chai literally starred with Eva Green and Mark Strong in a major role, and nobody batted an eye. Liza Soberano barely made a movie with a minor role and everyone's gone nuts! People gotta appreciate the real talent here.
THIS! Finally, we are being represented overseas by someone who actually looks like an ordinary Filipino. The accent is indeed a bit questionable but it's not done in a mocking way so its a pass. I know plently of people who do speak english in that accent.
Chai Fonacier (born December 25, 1996) is a Filipina actress, singer, writer and songwriter. She is magnificent in this movie. I hope she makes more movies for world-wide release.
Why is she a treasure? Did she do something outside of acting that made her one? Did she win a Nobel peace prize? Did she find the cure for cancer? Been seeing so many of these "national treasures" attributed to actors and actresses. It's nonsense. She's a great actress. He's a great actor. They're good at their jobs. Nuff said.
@@dormamo6917 I did not say national treasure. I asked why is SHE a treasure. And how do you know what someone else meant by their comment? If you look up "treasure" in the dictionary, you're not going to find your interpretation. She's a competent actress and a professional. When you get to that level you need to be. That's what the producers paid for and what the director expects. A "treasure" is just fanspeak. She doesn't do anything more (or less) of any other actress at that level. To think more than that is utter nonsense.
@@berylg9 ask 10 people on the street if they know who scarlett johansen or charlize theron or jennifer lawrence are, then ask them about eva green and see how many know of her. eva is just as talented as all the other actress ive mentioned but she's not in their elite tier and that's regrettable.
Green as performer gets more and more dialed in to full spectrum characterization as she ages. She is up there in nuance in similar ways to Naomi Watts.🥂
A nocebo effect is said to occur when negative expectations of the patient regarding a treatment cause the treatment to have a more negative effect than it otherwise would have. It is the opposite of placebo effect.
Done streaming this! Highly recommended Film 💯 So so good. The plot twist threw me out of the windoww! Not to mention, Filipino Bisaya Peeps, represent!🔥💪 Chai Fonacier with Eva Green and Mark Strong feels so natural. If it was me, I'd seriously go ballistic having these hollywood legends!
Plot twist: we're gaslighted into thinking the maid is evil but its the husband whos trying to hurt her and the maid was protecting her all along and turns out its about women supporting women
The twist was like the movie gone girl movie. Initially, the promotion or ads were leading us all to the what the movie clip wants the MAJORITY would like to think which was the maid's fault but it was actually the husband who's the culprit.
Yes, a plausible plot twist, based on what's hinted at in the title. "Nocebo." The opposite of a placebo, but basically still about fooling someone into thinking something they've imbibed has a certain effect on them. I also wonder if the plot twist will have a secondary twist - like the Filipino nanny was initially hired to help kill but it turns out she's a kind babaylan (a traditional female faith healer and seer with connections to the supernatural world) or even an aswang (you can look this up if you're not familiar with Philippine horror folklore). Or both. And she decides to rescue the main character. (That shot of something coming out of a woman's lips resembles the oft-told story of aswangs harboring an evil black chick inside their stomach, which serves as a kind of dark symbiote and is the source of their immortality and power. Dark crazy stuff.)
@@dianapoe1915 You must be really special in order for you to obviously miss the excitement and joke about a trailer. The acting in the trailer alone is Oscar worthy, as in this trailer is what sold the movie to get people in to watch it. Don't be a smooth brain.
Do you find this racist? I mean, it plays into the whole "foreigner has strange ways, must be evil" trope. I'm white, but I was cringing a bit watching this, thinking, "Really?! It's 2022, for cripe's sake!"

This looks awesome. I've seen many movies/series exploring the concept of placebos before but looking at the this new one about Nocebo had me completely hooked.
I'm assuming Christine has a curse that *someone* is putting on her deliberately and the healer is countering this. I've seen so many of this case in my relatives in the Ph. And the fact that the bird in the end is coming out of the mouth is a dead giveaway that this was the case. If the healer is a Mambabarang and not just a Mangkukulam (Witch) the one who cast the spell will get an even worse outcome.
My first thought was Christine seems like she was binabarang. As soon as I saw the smoke Chai set out. I don’t even like scary movies but this is very interesting.
Omg Chai Fonacier, a Filipino actress, starring with Eva Green and Mark Strong??! You go girl! I really liked one of her movies here in the Philippines called, "Patay na si Hesus" (Jesus is Dead). Watching her act in a Hollywood film makes me proud! Just bummed with the stereotypical Filipino accent lmao. Filipinos are actually fluent and has good diction when speaking English. Anyway, hope this movie is good! Edit: Lmao the replies are wild xD I'm not trying to make an issue, I'm just stating a fact that most Filipinos actually has good accent when speaking English. But I do get the comments saying that some Filipinos working abroad speak in a more crooked accent especially those not adept on the language. Some do get better overtime when exposed to the accent for a long time. Anyway, my point is that it's an overused trope. I just think it's more fresh to see, us, Asians, represented without any stereotypical bearings. Another thing, I'm not making this a big deal, I was just pointing out some of my observations. Kayo lang talaga nangagaway eme hahahahahaha.
@@dee_lulu Yes, and some of those who worked abroad for more than a few years actually speak like a local. The stereotypical Filipino accent is sometimes an act for their amo
Not everyone are fluent and has a neutral accent when speaking in English here. I'd say the accent she uses is more typical/average Filipino when speaking in English. You are making a narrative that isn't present nor an issue for this film. It's cringe. To add to this, she is Bisdak so she probably knows what she is doing.
Gonna call it right now, its the husband. The housekeeper is genuinely trying to help her with her village witch training. It's the husband that's keeping her on meds to gaslight her.

I think she can be the one who caused all of it or the hero, i think she sense something once she's hired so she will do what is right, since she has the skills on countering those dark spirits, it's like witchcraft idk.
