Noctua NH D15S High Compatibility CPU Cooler Overview, Benchmarks and Installation 

Thanks to this review, I'll never, *ever*, purchase an AIO again. Noctua is truly the way to go and this NH-D15S is king.

Today installing NH-D15S awesome high end Noctua aircooler :)!

Another thing I really like about these coolers is that if you don't want the fan that comes along with the cooler (the 140mm one) you can also buy some 120mm fans and attach those as well. They fit. And if you add one of those on the side with the RAM, the memory clearance increases from 32mm to 52mm allowing you install even those really high RAM sticks.

Thanks for showing the GPU clearance due the offset of the 15S. No one else had shown that yet, it’s actually quite a bit of room. I’m thinking it will not only improve compatibility, but possibly help with thermals as well

This cooler will work with MITX builds and not block the PCIe slot.

So if I am going for Asus Z370-E motherboard can I get NH-D15?

I want change my cooling with this noctua dh-15 but somehow i'm afraid that my case maybe can't be closed after installing it... So i maybe will go to dh-12, but maybe the perfomance could be really different than dh-15

Does this cooler have enough clearance on both sides for Ripjaws V on a ASUS X99 A2?

If your top fans are flush with the top of the motherboard, will this fit? I mean, does that offset cause the cooler to go "above" the top of the motherboard (in standard orientation)?

just bought one of these guys since it will fit in my inwin303 was going to get PHANTEKS PH-TC14PE but its just a little bit to tall sadly. I orginaly had an aio but am tired of wondering if i could spring a leak. and with how close this performance is to an corsair h105 i will never go aio again the extra fashion they add is not worth it to me.

I have this CPU Cooler. Happy. Awesome CPU Cooler. It's the legendary NH-D15 but S Model more RAM Clearance, compact. Plus cheaper. just about the same performance, max 1-2c less cool.

For those who have this cooler. Do i need to place some kind of weight holder? I've heard these heavy coolers may bend a motherboard as time goes. I own a x570 UD any suggestions?

How tall is it without the fan? Thinking of getting this and just using 2 120mm fans since my case can't fit past 160mm height. Or could I slide this fan further down on the sides?

It's a nobrainer, the D15S is even cheaper than the d15. and almost same performance, 1-2 degrees off.... very great

My Swiftech H220 was amazing, especially silent-wise, but it doesn't work anymore. I ordered the new Noctua NH L12S which should be enough for a 4690K, otherwise I'll switch it for a NH D15S

In few reviews, Scytche Ninja4 is same or better for half price. But some think that it's because high pressure on cpu.

On Z97 motherboards asymmetric cooler heat pipe arrangements primarily affects mATX compatibility which have less space between the CPU socket and first PCIe slot for a GPU. The mITX motherboards have much more space between CPU and GPU, and even a regular NH-D15 fits them just fine. For example a regular D15 will even fit onto an cramped ASUS Maximus VII Impact mITX motherboard but the D15S will not because of the VRM riser! If you put the new NH-D15S on an mITX motherboard some of it will now hang off the top edge and possibly interfere with the case wall or radiator/fans. Maybe X99 motherboards are different as I've not done graphic scale mockups on those. Noctua has good compatibility charts so consult that before buying.

Anyone here able to cool their i7-7700k at full load on turbo boost 4.5 Ghz using these cooler? My i7-7700k has been getting hot even without overclock and at full load it's basically 90 degree celcius. Plan to buy this cooler if it can help my cooling of the 7700k.

I highly recommend to anyone using one of these for a build to get a screwdriver with an actual grip on the handle. Otherwise you might get frustrated from the lack of leverage.

I know that the D-15SE AMD version has been shifted to allow better clearance for the first PCI slot, but what side should the shift be oriented? I'm confused about this. I want to mount it horizontally, per the manual, but I am unsure as to which side is up/down in this orientation. If the mounting base plate is shifted, how do I know which side goes toward the PCIE slot?

Gosh, change the I7 4770k with a newer one like I7 5820k or 5960x?

Its better than liquid cooling on my opinion. After all the hassles of blocked pumps and other issues I'm never going back to liquid cooling. Liquid cooling is ok if you want to go for crazy overclocks. For most ordinary Gamers and users, Noctua is more than good enough, take it from someone like me who has experienced everything.

A lot of inaccurate assumptions at the beginning of this review... ITX? Only if you are a console gamer and only buy a PC just for Gaming as a complement to your console or you are assembling an HTPC. I see the ITX market currently diminishing. The D15S isn't ITX friendly, I have one it's as big as an ITX.

Well there is "one more thing you could've asked for from Noctua"... get a freaking color-scheme going and make your coolers look nicer... If the metal was black nickel colored, and the fan was a light/dark grey scheme, it would be a completely unbeatable cooler in all regards...

It looks like a very poor design - putting a fan IN BETWEEN 2 heat sink towers, what is the logic in that - the fan in the middle will simply pull HOT air from the nearby tower onto the other tower - i cannot imagine it being an optimal cooling - wouldn't it have been ideal to have 1 fan on the far right of the 2nd tower blowing air, and the other fan at the far left of the 1st tower (sort of in a push pull configuration) so 2nd tower gets air, 1st tower fan pulls hot air out to the exhaust. This product is hype I hear too many complaints of people who say their temps are close to Tj, even when properly applying paste and seating. Also it is not true that the fans are quiet, they might be quiet in SILENT mode - but they WILL sound like a Pratt & Whitney on high throttle just ready to takeoff, starting at near 100% speed, and they will be running at near to 100% speed during gaming and rendering. It might be OK for older CPUs but Intel and AMD are creating new products that are power hungry monsters and heat generators, ALL new generation CPUs run CRAZY HOT, that even the best coolers can't keep up with short of using compressor based sub zero coolers. It's NOT normal that a 2nd fan only improves cooling by 2C, that's crap, it should be improving it by much more, if it was not just blowing the HOT air from the other tower - I could see a 5C improvement if it were used in a push pull config and not a middle fan, but oh well. I think it is not worth spending $$$ for a new CPU now with all those monstrously gigantic coolers that still don't offer much in cooling, CPUs still run at crazy hot temps, I'll stick to my i5-4690K, comes with its own stock HSF, and OCed at 4.4Ghz per core, never get more than 82-85C on stress tests.
