Iffy your knowledge and trust has always had my attention. I appreciate all your time trying to better the Legend. It’s people like you that seems to get things done. Relaying the message to Nokta which in turn produces an update. I really miss Calabash and his honesty also, I wish he would reconsider…..
Great job showing this Mike! Thanks! There's something to be said on single frequency for sure. I love using 10khz single if there's any EMI and it's so great and deep. I personally don't mess with the iron filter, I use my ears to discriminate the iron out. I definitely don't care for the tone on this at all. I'll definitely be mentioning things about this. I don't have to be happy with the results and definitely am not. Thank you brother! BTW I replied to some guy on Facebook saying he thought you were Iffy 😆 But yet he said you were comparing beast mode to the simplex, so clearly he didn't pay much attention to the videos. 😂
We use 3 legends on our team... we're getting the same results. SUPER happy to watch your videos and tests, they have certainly eased our minds about what we're also seeing in the fields. THanks dude
It's unfortunate but when people sign up to the Nomads they are essentially becoming reps for the company. Their payment, if we call it that is free machines and accessories for as long as they keep putting out the positive spin and continue to try and discredit the people who do unbiased testing. That is not to say that Nokta as a company, and the Legend in particular are not good. Nokta has the best customer service I have come across over the past few years. And they do continue to try and improve their products, taking into account user feedback. But they play with this double-edged sword, the other side of which is the Nomads and Nokta die-hard Nomad wannabes who will swear black is white if they think it will get them a free machine. Just keep doing what you do. I will take your word and testing over a Nomad any day👍

Great Video, I agree 100% I have absolutely NO plans to put this update on my Legend if it's not improved significantly! Beast Mode struggling and Park Mode beating it with better tones! 😮 what the hell is that? 😢
I agree with you 100%. All my test results align with yours. And there's nothing wrong with being able to say that something isn't as expected. I'm a German tech RU-vidr and shop owner, and people value my opinion a lot, which is why we scrutinize things closely. I've shown Dilek videos where the Beast Mode doesn't reach the usual depths like gold/field, etc. She'll pass it on after the Sugar Feast. I think it's right to point out things that we find odd. I've been doing that for years with Garrett, etc. Of course, there are hardliners who try to show that everything is fine. But again, having a critical opinion or questioning something is what drives the brands forward in this business. Keep it up. As I've already said, you're a very reliable source for me, where I first look to see if we have the same result, or if I need to check new approaches again.
Great points Mike. ********** I doubt BM can be produced any differently than what it is now, but we'll see. I also think that's exactly why Nokta gave us the unexpected DT, which works well for many fringe targets, and fully integrates into the search modes with all the other options. I'm glad Nokta is trying stuff. People need to keep in mind that Nokta didn't have to do any of this. The Legend is an excellent performer, at a rock bottom price for what you get. Nokta owes us nothing in that regard. One may like or dislike DT and/or BM, but it's free, no one is forced to use it, and it's also still in beta.

I used it all day Saturday and saw improvements and better depth at DT 2, Beast Mode on Gold Mine was on PT tones and I didn't use it much. A little unstable, but after calibration it was ok
Haven’t installed the new update yet. After seeing some of the results, I’m in no hurry to do so. I don’t see the advantage at this point to move forward with it. Disappointing to me that their initial test with their engineers didn’t see these problems with beast mode. I appreciate you and others showing the results you experience and hope that Nokta sees them and adjusts the program and performance accordingly.
I'm glad they unlocked the settings on the Legend. I hope they can incorporate even better target separation algorithms in the software also. The Legend to me is a very different detector. Yes you can use it out of the box and get good results. But after you begin using it and understanding more about what's it telling you, there are many little things you can change to suit your style and locations. It's probably the most customizeable detector settings-wise I've ever had. And I've had all kinds over the years. At least Nokta is like you said, opening it up for us instead of neutering it just so they can get another model and more $$$ out of such a greedy tactic (Hello Minelab and XP Detectors). For what it is worth, I ahve owned XP machines, and still own a Minelab. At least now we a choice that can mostly keep up with them.
These three (XP,ML,Nokta) all competition for the best machines available for the best price. Great stuff out currently and I’m sure the future as well. Sounds like Garrett is jumping back in soon which is great to hear.

I'm not a fanboy of any manufacturer, I'm simply observer and just use my eyes ad brain. "Nokta loves you"... pretty marketing bullshit and people believe in it like a child. "Nokta loves your wallets" - that's correct.
I know this tet is on the Legend, But I found out today the 700/900 has an update I guess it is similar to the 600/800 Not sure if I want the 4khz but also added stability too. Oh What should I do? Thanks for these kind of testing you are and have been Awesome with them.. Peace
Hey Rick, BC - Bottle cap reject, is in all Multi modes (except Beast) and works as a large iron filter. Iron Reject is in Beast Mode. That also works as an iron reject, works good but i find BC works better for calling large iron non ferrous.
Iffy. I have been in touch with nokta from day one of the legend release. Soooo many issues when first released. Now a very capable unit but v1.14 is crap. Ps Scott. Is a good guy but as you said he's a Nomad and loaded up by nokta. He's from my area initially here in the adirondack s.
With what nokta has give us with the legend. They have set the bar high, this mode doesn’t deserve to be on the legend. Hope they figure things out for the alpha
Seems to be more videos popping up saying the same. Nokta has mentioned making a video to show what Beast is used for. Maybe they have set it exactly the way they want it? We will see. I know i also need a least an IR of 3 in that mode just to knock out a nail, with that i lose the unmasking capability I have in Park and Field.
Take beast mode and compare. For ID all other programs. Clad dime on top of nickel and vice versa. This will give you very good idea at freq involved with beast mode. Beast if it gives lower ID than the rest - good clue higher freq being used.
I found 7 targets took both the m8 coil vs lg24 both very discriminated 21-35&45/60-70/90. 2 tone on both. Legend held it's own compared to manticore. Park/Allgen. Legend was very sparky but I was only using m1 and m2. I didn't try single freq. I need to see how I can be confident that the legend is in fact in the Dt setting. I select Dt then the gear/setting key to back out, So is it in Dt setting or not?
Iffy while I’ve been at the park with my last two outings in park mode with my IF at 4, ST at 2, BC at 0, AG at 2, and DT at 2 also with the recovery anywhere between 5-7, I am noticing the depth meter all over the place at times. On surface items or items that are just up to 1 in deep sometimes I get the depth bar showing me full depth. Are you or anyone else seeing this when swinging over coins, pull tabs, or bottle caps?
Hey Edward, i have never really paid attention to it. Soil conditions or any bits of iron/trash thats in the ground can also mess with it. Could be seeing more than the target that the audio is locking on to.
@@IffySignals I agree but after digging out the coin or other item and swing back over the target there is nothing there. No signal at all. Just take a look at it and see if you notice it also. Just something I was seeing and was wondering if it’s just me or if there was something going on with the update. Just a thought.
Mike, those who might think that you "were not trying to hit it" simply don't know you or your channel.. Ooorrr they're stupid. People who follows your videos knows that you are an unbiased person who's only trying to show detector's potentials and concretely demonstrating the differences between software versions and detectors. You're not promoting one over another, you have nothing to sell and represent no one other than yourself. Just like us, you want these machines to succeed and to get better.

People sleep on 40 Khz. Even though I'm mostly a beach detectorist, I won't buy a machine that doesn't have a 40 Khz (or higher) single frequency mode. There's a beach I detect where the EMI is so bad that only 40 Khz works and even then, there's still some EMI coming through with the Nox. As great as the sale on the 600s is right now, I pass it up because it only doesn't have the higher single frequencies like the 800. You're better off running 40 Khz in the dry sand at 22 sensitivity than Multi at 15. 40Khz will hit 10" silver dimes whereas hamstrung multi won't.
First of all, if you read the description. It says NOTHING about being deeper. It's not a deeper mode and was never meant to be a deeper mode. It's for hunting in highly mineralized soil where targets may be blocked out by the normal ground mineralization(wherever that may be lol). Never has it been about depth. What I found is, beast mode is good for identifying deep iron in my soil and ONLY deep iron. It up averages all non-ferrous targets. So it's useless for general hunting because foil and slaw suddenly sound much better. In my hunt it was 99% successful at Identifying deep iron....and I mean deep. 6 inches plus. About 2% successful at identifying everything else that wasn't iron at any depth. We can see it in your video. You're hitting the dime at mid 50's in the standard modes but in beast it's tagging the odd 60's...but with mostly low numbers because it's being dragged down by whatever is contaminating that target. Probably iron. So the machine in Beast mode is just not unmasking very well for whatever reason. I suspect because it's stock iron bias setting is way too high again. Do you have a deep nail in the garden? I'd bet interested to see if your results on the clean nail match my own. I'd also like to see you run over that dime with the iron bias at stock 8 in park and field to see if it struggles. My hunch is the old iron bias came back to haunt them again. They love that high bias at Nokta lol. Other than that as you said without tone options etc you have to hunt looking at the screen because everything sounds the same. Again though, I don't think it was ever meant to be a general hunting mode. IT's mean to be a slowly grid and hope to extract items in bad conditions mode. On a side note I was able to run field mode DT2 and it was working amazing for me. It was hitting everything......just a bit sketchy identifying deep iron as usual. So I ended the day running field mode, recovery 2 IF 1 IS 5 BC0 GS0 DT2 and on deep targets I suspected to be iron I double checked with beast mode. Worked pretty good.
Yuck! No need for a deep iron mode here. It states - Beast Mode has been added “ Very deep targets may have values close to the surrounding soil and therefore not be detected. Beast Mode allows you to detect targets that cannot be detected in other modes. This mode resets the ground balanced soil, allowing deep coins and large masses to be detected by the detector”
@@IffySignals But that still doesn't say "more depth". What it says, is better separation of the ground signal and target signal, compared to other modes on fringe targets. With my in the wild testing, I found that to be true SOME of the time. Other times it was equal to the other modes, or gave less separation than the other modes. The caveat though with BM, is up averaging, limited audio options, and less features. Those caveats are most likely unavoidable limitations.
Thanks. To clarify what I meant about "unavoidable limitations". Fringe targets don't contain enough information to have accurate audio and ID. That is the very nature of fringe targets. As such, BM can't provide better ID and audio than the other modes. All it can do (sometimes), is give an "on" audio response to indicate a nonferrous target, when other modes can't.
Great work again iff, testing and testers of your calibre are what manufacturers love as it helps them get the best out of the machine. It’s gotta be said that in some cases , a manufacturers crew , who are promoting the detector , even if there are faults with it, can hold a detector back, or just look silly when a update is released. I’m sure a manufacturer will listen to a rated tester over their own troops , because that’s how we get better machines. 🧑🦯

@@HistoryRevisiteduk I doubt more power is even possible without changing the coil design and pod circuit design. Nokta could easily give the Legend more a few more sensitivity levels, but the Legend already has high gain. Adding more sensitivity also means more EMI, more falsing, and less stable ID.
