Great information guys wete are following ye a while and are going back over older videos. We bought our van this wk , can't believe our nomadic lives start in just 3 months , once we have finished our work snd get van ready for EUROPE!!😊
From Genoa ferries go to a few places only (Bastia, Tunis, Palermo, Olbia, Barcelona, Tangier). From where you are coming from, all these places are much warmer and sunnier too. Yet the weather forecast for all these places are not promising much sun. Rain will follow. You are late for a nice weather in EU unless you go to Athens or something like this which is too far away (for now). The most important thing was getting those ID cards. That achievement is worth the detour and all the bad weather after this point. Whatever comes next will be just easier administrative ways. Have a great time, good weather and more luck with peaceful campsites. When the weather is bad at least peace and quiet can help a bit.
You know your ferry routes! 😁Finding warm weather was a major motivation for the detour but also, if we didn't make the drive to get the ID's we would have had to fly there from somewhere before middle November.
I’ve made a note of the noise cancelling headphones. 🙌 They might shut out Lisa, but that lady screaming in your faces in your cabin is another matter 😄
What an adventure, I actually like travelling on ferries. Congrats on getting the ID cards, I'm sure this will make this easier for admin etc. Safe Travels.
Thank you! Good point, will explain in another video. But in short, as we're not residents (citizens yes) our passports are our ONLY form of identification in Europe.
The World is not ready yet for full-time nomads. We ( Belgian citizens ) also have problems to range administration stuff. Good you've become your identification papers in Italy ! We're looking forward to see your sunny destination ! Greetings, Yves & Vanessa
Thank you! The good news is we found sun! Finding warm weather was a major motivation for the detour but also, if we didn't make the drive to get the ID's we would have had to fly there from somewhere before middle November.
Hello both. Its been so good to follow you, and im trying to catch up on older videos aswell. You been very close to our home in denmark (near Helnæs) maybe a time we meet on road. Right now i have a broken leg so using hours just watching :) Is there specific video where you go more into details on how you budget things? Living of a saving or one of you still job? Regards Christian from Denmark
Hi Christian! Sorry to hear about your leg! But at least you have more time for watching 😋 We have a number of videos on what we spend while traveling but not made a specific video on how we afford this life. The short answer is we worked, saved and invested for 20 years - now we mainly live of the return of our investments - also when there's an opportunity we do a remote project.
I wear mohair mix quality thermals during winter and are generally toasty warm all winter. Are you guys having to do the shingdan shuffle currently? What happened to Greece?
@@WeWillNomad Oh OK. Nice one.....maybe we will see you on crete for spring skiing on the white mountains? Here's a challenge for you where ever you are now:) Sunset camp fire cooking :) no excuses.
Not relevant for van life per se, but we're not resident in Italy (we're citizens living abroad) and our passports are currently our only form of identification in Europe. The big issue is we need to renew our passports and as part of the application we need to relinquish the old ones - even if it's still 'valid'. As non-residents the renewal duration is 'uncertain' due to additional red tape. Having ID's at least helps us to move around during that time.
Hi guys. You didn’t explain why the id cards were so important to get. I’ve recently become a French citizen and will be getting a passport and French id. The id card is more of a convenience though so I don’t need to carry passport around Europe - is it the same reason for you both or does an Italian id give something more?

As non-residents the renewal duration is 'uncertain' due to additional red tape. Having ID's at least helps us to move around during that time. That's the primary reason. No added local benefits unfortunately, we need to be resident to qualify for that. Congrats on the French passport!
Crap. Not the video, great as always. Crap to the cliff hanger of having to wait for the next video of where you are landing. Was looking forward to Greece videos, but in suspense where the ferry has dropped you. Wishing you warm sunshine from sunny Cape Town.
🤣😋 Greece is still on the cards and is our next Europe destination. We just have a few new plans for winter first. Wouldn't mind being in Cape Town for a few months to be honest! ☀️
Definitely going to get some of those headphones! You warned me about some of the habits of Italian drivers but you did not mention constant lane hopping which was a real issue for us (but thankfully we came through unscathed). P
