Sofina was actually being smart by putting the heroes in the games. In her mind even if they survived, they would be changed into undead and become powerful servants. Also, don't worry about not being able to improvise in order to be a DM. Just prepare as well as you can and have fun. You will learn improvisation with time.

Doric was a member of the Emerald Enclave, a druid faction. For her role in saving Neverwinter, Lord Neverember granted the Emerald Enclave's lands the protection of the Lords Alliance, his faction. She helped form a powerful alliance. Her character growth was that she trusted and became friends with humans. Xenk was more of an NPC than a member of the group, and much higher level. His character is pretty much already determined.

Dnd player here. The thing that the party jumps into at the 47 minute mark is called a gelatinous cube. The burning sensation that everyone feels is it digesting them with acid.

Themberchaud, the chonky boi, dragon, is unique among red dragons. See, the duergar(think dwarves, but different cultures) had convinced Themberchaud to stoke their fires. In return they kept him very well fed. As a result, and because of red dragons' propensity for overindulgence, Themberchaud glutted himself into the chonky boi we see in the movie. I believe he's in legendary status in D&D lore.

Yeah, i believe they made the movie good enough to set up a sequel. I don't know how well it did in theatres, but from the popularity of the show, it'll absolutely be getting one.

It performed modestly in theaters, around $200 million. Part of that was the release date being so close to Mario Bros. Honor Among Thieves also has a strong critical response, but if it gets a sequel, it'll depend on how well it does beyond the box office, with streaming, on-demand, blu-ray sales, etc.

I gotta say I think you are a little confused by the situation with Edgin leaving Holga she got caught in a spell called time stop what could he have doin but try and get away so he could mount a rescue later but as you can see once you're in the spell you're stuck. So yea he wasn;t dipping on her. Also he has a kid so she will always come first.

Grant. Hugh's last name is Grant. Hugh Grant. That's his name. 😂 Also, no, I don't think that it's because Sofina _respected_ the gang that she agreed to let them fight in the High Sun Games. Far from it. She knew she was going to unleash the Beckoning Death on the arena anyway and she wanted Edgin, Holga, Simon and Doric to suffer the fate that comes with that.

Although some things remind you of Harry Potter, it must be said that Dungeons and Dragons was created long before Harry Potter. The skeletal red wizard is from the original game, not an invention from the movie, for example. The fat dragon is also from the game xD. Good reaction.

The Gelatinous Cube is basically a giant single celled organism. It basically slowly digests whatever gets trapped inside it that doesn't manage to get out. They're typically found in (for lack of better terminology) man-made structures that have either been long abandoned or, as with the games, placed intentionally in a labyrinth as an obstacle.

Fun fact regarding the battle that Holga's people fought to protect the helmet over: Each of the flashbacks are six seconds long, the last six seconds of each warrior's life. According to the core rulebooks (the Dungeon Master's Guide, the Player's Handbook and the Monster Manual) one round of combat canonically takes place over the course of six seconds.

30:00 that's exactly what happened also 33:33 - it couldn't breathe fire before that as well. If you'll rewatch the chase closely you'll see he can only produce gas and needs an already existing flame to ignite it

I love how they balanced this movie for non players and players, wothout it being super distracting(I’m a huge transformers nut and absolutely love the new movie since it’s a reboot following the bumblebee movie and treats them more like actual characters) so much love was poured into this movie

Doric is a tiefling, that means she has some demonic/devilish heritage... in the dnd worlds, tiefling can be born from two humain parents, it's the case for her, but most of human parents don't want a child showing that someone in the generations before has made a deal with a evil creature from another world... 38:30 : "That worked ?" Yes, players' craziest ideas are always the better... you always have to accept that they won't take the easy road (or the "easy" bridge a little earlier, that's why the walking staff became the ither-tither staff...) And other great fantasy/adventure movies : from the 80s, Willow (the movie, not the serie released last year which was... not great... but the movie is a breat classic from the 80s) / Legend (with Tom Cruise... a little cheesy, but nice) / Neverending Story ... of course, they have been released in the 80s so the special effects may look weird for younger people but these 3 movies were very good... And, friendly advice, do NOT watch the dnd movies from 2000, they are awful ! And great reaction btw !

The thing with D&D is that rules are secondary to the story. I have bent or ignored rules on multiple occasions because it made a better story for the players. Not played much for a while, but I started many years back when I was 12. It made for some memorable times. It is worth trying with your friends.

The name of Simon is actually an easteregg - it's a reference to an old video game names Simon the Sorcerer. Thay is a country btw. Most of the Thayan population is s just regular people - farmers, craftsmen, merchants - just like anywhere else. The country is ruled by the Red Wizards which are a certain order of wizards (not all wizards are Thayans or members of the Red Wizards). Szass Tam is the most powerfull of them. And he is a Lich (a type of powerfull undead spellcaster) - that's why he looks that way, not as a reference to Harry Potter. In fact the character of Szass Tam was developed back in the 1980ties when the Forgotten Realms campaign setting was created, long before Harry Potter even existed. 43:22 Not really. She thinks about that they will be a great addition to her army of the undead.

So if you have a good DnD group a lot of times playing the game is hysterical. They actually did a pretty good job keeping true to the game. You should definitely try it sometime. There are shorter "one shots" where everything is written already if you feel uncomfortable with your improv if you want to DM. Once you start getting a hold on the rules it comes much easier too. Feel free to ask if you're interested

A Tiefling is like a cambion, a hybrid offspring of a mortal and a demon/devil/fiend, but a Tiefling may be a distant descendant whose devilish traits may have been dormant for generations.

The fact that you were able to identify that the Hither Thither Staff was something the DM would have made up on the spot because the group messed up the puzzle they planned tells me you would make a fine DM. A lot of other reactors just say that the staff was "very convenient" but don't really identify WHY it seemed so convenient.

Do you have Prime? If you love magic, and fantasy and comedy, and aren't familiar with D&D, may I suggest Critical Role's animated series, "The Legend of Vox Machina?" They have a fantastic, helpful fan community who loves it when non-DnD folk get introduced to it.

I'm thinking that if House of the Dragon continues into the era of the Blackfyre rebellions, that they ought to cast Regé-Jean Page as Daemon Blackfyre. In the book he was a pale skinned blond like most of the other Targaryens and Targaryen bastards, but he is a direct descendant of Vaemond Velaryon whom (like Coryls) the show made a black guy so the show version of Daemon Blackfyre ought to be mixed race.
