Hello, maybe my request is not quite on the topic of the video, but at the last Tennocon, DE showed a new demo of Soulframe. This is a great creative work that they have done in a year. Look and listen, I think it will be a good "copy in your collection" :)
Sorry to hop on this comment to recommend this but if you never tried, give a listen to the music from the game Inscryption, it's pretty unique and very interesting
@@nooonanoonung6237 i have the feeling that dota players are more bitter and resigned or just straigh up "lol what can you do" chill than league players who are more screensmashing and racial slur angry Mobas bring out the best in people :)
@Maric18 - As a long time (but no longer active) Dota 1/2 player that has also dabbled in League a few times (Arcane managed to sucker me back in)... Both communities are quite similar. Some good eggs amongst a sea of normalised toxicity, and a bunch of people who actively tilt themselves by getting upset over anything other than a curbstomp. While I was playing either I tried to be a positive influence in keeping everyone friendly but in both games you have to develop a thick skin and a mindset of "okay, we are getting stomped and I feel like I'm tilting, so instead it's time to ask the team if they want to pull out the YOLO strats (deathballs, base dives, five dagons). You'll still probably lose, but you'll go out with style. Also doesn't help that both games have problems with smurfs and trolls and that it's very difficult to determine is intentionally feeding, if they are a newbie, or if they are just having a bad game.
Aw man, my uncle is one of the French Horn players in the symphony they hired to play for Destiny 2, I'm so glad Marco showed off Journey in one of these videos. Genuinely made me emotional hearing it in game for the first time.
So for Hinnamatoom, Iirc, Mick Gordon went through a lot of lengths for all the music he does. for that track, he went to a nez perc native american tribe and asked if he could record them singing some vocals and actually brought some of them to review if the music he made felt authentic enough to represent the native american style. and for some of the vocals in that track, he was in a panel of some sort and he asked his audience to chant a certain phrase and he recorded them and put it in the track
Lichdragon Fortissax's theme makes me imagine a guy playing the organ and lighning is shooting out the organ, while he has a cult quire singing behind him, as if they're conducting a mighty ritual
Mark has great energy, it would be great to have him back again sometime. A fair few tracks I hadn't heard before, will catch the first half of this video in the coming days.
Seeing people’s faces as Tenebre Rosso Sangue starts to kick in is always so much fun. Mark also brought a really fun energy and it was a blast watching y’all, would love to see him on the channel again sometime!
For Thunder's theme from killer instinct they actually recorded real tribes people on an Indian reservation singing out in nature. It wasn't recorded in a studio. Pretty awesome.
I never get tired of watching people from outside the gaming community who enjoy music, be genuinely surprised by and impressed by how creative and impressive some OSTs are
Seeing his smile when the woodwinds kicked in on Thunder's theme from Killer Instinct makes me smile so hard myself. I genuinely think KI has a perfect soundtrack for every character.
Since you mentioned how repetitive Memory of the Lost is, in the game, it plays during sequences where you walk through an area watching vignettes from a character's memories. It keeps looping the same melody, but the different instruments fade in and out to match the intensity of the current scene. I think what you listened to is sort of a compilation of all the different variations that get used throughout the game.
47:10 Strictly speaking it's an EP - that version of it. The song is in the game, it's a _bossfight_. Each of the bosses gets their own vocal theme, and they do all slap as hard as that.
I forgot how much Lichdragon Fortissax kicks ass. Elegy for the Rings is the best, i'm sad Marco didn't get to play the dlc, still happy to have witnessed his main game playtrought tho
Marco, whoever sends you that version of Memory of the Lost done that song dirty that song actually has lyrics but for some reason that version only including few words of it, the reason it doesn't sound amazing because that version undermines the vocal version by cutting it, even though the opera singer in the full vocal version sung it like crying. Also she sung it in English.
I was gonna say, that was an awful version. They just spliced together the different variations of the song, but the vocal section just awkwardly comes in and only briefly. Was very odd. To be fair, it’s one of the songs criminally missing from the official soundtrack, so there is no official version. But still…unfortunate he was given such a bad edit.
That's my fault, i specified in my comment to him to listen to the version that has lyrics, but i think he just clicked on the first video that pops up when you search up the song. I should've just sent him a link instead, my bad@@c.a.honeycutt5046
Fun to see the mar(k/co)'s jamming or vibing to some of these. Like for They Might as Well be Dead, you both were just vibing to the whole thing and having fun with it. At the end you had less to say than a lot of other tracks, but the excitement was obvious. It was just a track you loved listening to.
Memory of the lost is here! So far my favorite track from Code Vein, thanks so much for sharing this piece of art for your friend in this amazin video!
Elegy for the Rings is certainly a piece that changes its meaning a lot as you progress through the DLC and begin to understand the motives of the ones performing it. At first, it seems to be just a haunting and scary ambience, but later you realise just how much emotion it contains. I imagine a more conventional piece, such as The River from the same DLC would be a lot more fitting for listening out of context, as it does a great job of creating a context on its own
I'm not sure if it was my suggestion that did the trick, but I'm so happy that you had time to check out the Dishonored OST, and that you seemed to love it as much as I do! If you want to explore the soundtrack some more, I would recommend "Wrenhaven River", "Ambients", and "Intro: The Return". All absolutely magical in their own right.
"Guide us, O'mighty fury!" "Guide us, to victory!" I love that so much. And nidhogg's song in Dragonspeak? Beautiful, especially once you get it translated. !
Oooh, wasn't expecting Code Vein in there! There are some other really cool tracks, like Heir of the Shingai/successor, which make use of what sounds like a Counter Tenor vocalist - which you reaaaaally don't hear often in video game music!
Never heard Everhood ost before, but it strongly reminds me of the Crypt of the Necrodancer with how dynamic the music is, shifting through different parts and arrangements. Actually, I'm surprised CotN was never mentioned on this channel. It's definetely worth checking out!
I doubt you see this but the song title of Journey perfectly translates to the song. It begins somber, dark, almost grieving. After this it gets more hopeful but maintains that tension and then you get everything coming in slowly. Instrument by instrument building to this full driving piece. It encapsulates the story of the Red War. The tower falls, we lose our light, we're broken and scattered. Over the course of the campaign we gather allies, the instruments start coming in more and more, and then we finally take the fight to Ghaul and take him down. It's a song that tells the game's story to you
It obviously wouldn't have worked for this guest but the Stellaris OST has some of my favorite pieces of music. Faster than Light, Riding the Solar Wind, Robo Sapiens, Robotic God, Into the Dark, Nemesis Main Theme, I could go on all day lol
Another amazing video! Very surprised to see Killer Instinct here, they did such a good work transfering the essence of their characters trough music. If you will revisit the series i would recomend "Lycanthropy" (Sabrewulf theme) and "Village of whispers" (Hisako theme)
I like that this one has a lot of tracks Marco doesn't usually show people, but I guess that makes sense since this one wasn't put together with the idea of introducing someone to modern videogame music as a whole. Also love the Fortissax clip of somebody who turned Elden Ring into a turn-based RPG with a tanky build.
Completing the Circle is the 2nd part of a 2-part experience. *Riding the Wind* plays as the ambient piece in the background as you're slowly and treacherously climbing up a forest of thorns while riding the wind. Then you finally make it to that last tree for your final power-up, filling up the final spot in your abilities circle, literally *completing the circle* and then for this one and only moment in the game *Completing the Circle* plays a "complete" version of *Riding the Wind* that up until that point, had always felt like something was missing. And until you get out of the forest of thorns, you have this beautiful, sweeping music pushing you to press on and move forward. And once you're in the clear, the music fades and you never get that moment back. It's a fantastic once-in-a-playthrough experience. Part 1 enhances the impact of Part 2, really love it
I absolutely LOVED seeing some Code Vein OST in here! I'd love you see you break down either version of the Requiem pieces! I love Requiem: Tranquility and Light
That soundtrack is absolutely stellar; so unique in terms of texture. It was done by Mickymar Productions, the folks who did the Sunless Sea soundtrack, another one of my favorites. In terms of Cultist Simulator, I also would recommend "The Ivory and The Lovely" and "Those Are Pearls That Were Her Eyes".
I love these videos! I love seeing many classical trained talents with so many different back ground sharing the music I love. I wonder if any of the influences that they may get for being exposed to the world of video game music may go back the stage.
Sol Squadron was one of the best tracks when it played. Going up against that squad was a blast, but when you are fighting their leader, Archange just... fucking slaps.
Hey Marco, I have a suggestion for future reactions with other people. How about showing them the Terraria Calamity Mod OST? Not only are they really awesome, but you also don't have to deal with copyright issues as long as you credit them.
@MarcoMeatball - Your interpretation of classical music being transformed and reinvigorated to a newer generation is happening time and time again but with different mediums when you talked about the Kafka Trailer. I was first introduced to classical music through Looney Tunes and Fantasia. Without those I wouldn't have appreciated music in its form today even though I myself will never go to a classical concert since I'd much prefer to hear things like Soundtracks instead. It's evolving and changing in a way that shows what classical music can do in a changing environment and it's nice to see it becoming more accessible in an evolved way.
The vocalist of I'm Here is Merry Kirk-Holmes, lead singer of To Octavia, an absolutely AMAZING screamo metalcore band. They're painfully unknown though. They deserve so much more recognition. Also neat fact, Merry is nonbinary.
Man, Mihaly's theme is so good. Context for people who haven't played AC7, he's by far the scariest pilot you encounter in the game, to the point where most of the community considers him to be a retired protagonist from a previous Ace Combat game. So his theme really sells the "oh shit, oh fuck, oh god, oh crap" feeling you have the entire time you're dogfighting with him.
1:23:06 This reminded me of "Libera me from hell" from the Gurren Lagann Soundtrack. It's not game music, so it doesn't exactly fit this series, but it's definitely worth a listen. A great mix of Opera and Rap.
Plenty of amazing OST in anime. Kevin perkin (MiA), Hiroyuki Sawano (86, Kill la KIll, AOT, Re:creators). Technically speaking Gurren Lagann does have a bunch of video games... now I don't know if they feature the soundtrack in the games but surely it's iconic enough for whoever to license it with it. It also features a lot in mech games video games where a bunch of mech franchises collab together.
@@MajorSmurf Don't forget Kenji kawaii from ghost on the shell which was basically nier music before nier was a thing .Yuki kajiura from fate and Susumu hirasawa for berserk aswell.
Hola, Marco! Great video as always, thank you! ) Listening to "Hearts of Iron IV" main theme reminded me of another great Paradox Interactive's game theme. Have you heard "The Dynasty" by Andreas Waldetoft (Crusader Kings III OST)? I could not find the reaction to it on your channel, so, maybe you could put this theme to your list and check once? ) This would be great! ) 😃😉(*Just for the info: this theme is the first thing the player hear, launching the game) Thanks once again for the quality content! 🙂😃❤
"People in other genres/spheres that know what the people want". Great insight. Especially when modern big tech entertainment have been on a nonstop decline eventhough they have so many big IP that had trail-blazed in the past that people really wish for more.
1:13:54 When you hear that piece in the game far away in the strange house, while sneaking in the dark, seeing something alive and knowing, that something is playing this melody, it just works.
i do have a request: if you have not yet listened to the "the flame in the flood" soundtrack, maybe give it a shot. In my opinion, it is a fantastic showcase in how to evoke the perfect feeling for the game. in the end, it is a country soundtrack for a survival game, and you really get this feeling of being kinda lonely, but on the other hand just appreciating the country, the nature around you.
I love seeing people with as much talent as him welcoming of the composers in the gaming industry. He would LOVE the Scaramouche and Azhdaha theme. Great guest!
has Marco ever listened to any Legend of Zelda music on his channel yet? I recommend botw/totk's soundtrack, or Twilight Princess, they're all so beautiful. I can't help but just stand still for a moment whenever i'm playing either of them to just listen the soundtracks to their fullest. -in Tears of the Kingdom, the theme of the Dragon's when you realize you're right beside one, sounds so majestic and immediate immerses you into the world. And even more so when you encounter the Light Dragon, and realize that it has its own version of the dragon theme; then continue playing through the game, to get context on why its theme is slightly different, is so incredible to me. -the Colgera boss theme is also incredible, with references to Wind Waker that don't feel forced. -Whenever I'm out for a supply run for ingredients to cook, my first stop is ALWAYS Rito Village, it's theme is so wonderful and peaceful, it fits the village so well. -Although Kass is not in totk, I think its still fair to mention him here. "Kass' Final Song" that he plays for Link sounds amazing. With Twilight Princess, I always find myself going back to listen to Lake Hylia, or "Kakariko is saved", I love my fair share of epic battle or adventure music, but these two songs sooth my soul. every single time I listen to them, it's like I'm listening to them for the first time.
hoi4 main/allied theme was a pleasant surprise, as a hoi4 player, i would love you giving Morning of D-Day or the Axis Theme a listen to, other songs that i would love to see you dissect would be Shatter the Empires/Communist America from the Man The Guns DLC, or The Battle of Wuhan and Empire of the Sun from the Waking the Tiger DLC
i'm here 43:00 ish is 100% ingame and plays even just while running around. all the tracks play ingame, some for bosses, some for casual play. thats a casual play song, there is a boss version of it too though that plays during one of the bosses which is more instrumental.
11:40 - Can confirm if anyone's doubting. We had classical singing lessons in school and went to concerts. I am sad that back then I did not care about music in the same way though.
The beginning of the heavensword OST reminded me alot of the Theme from Dragons Dogma : Dark Arisen. Maybe Marco will react to some Dragons Dogma OST. I can imagine he will like some pieces =)
@MarcoMeatball love the video however time and time again ive waited to see you show the opening song for dark souls three and time and time again I've been disappointed cause it's such a great ost. It would be awesome is you squeezed it into these videos once or twice.
