I was about to die from an overdose in my apartment in Miami all alone after so many different drugs…I went to grab my phone and I couldn’t even see what I pressed and out of no where RU-vid started and this song played. My heart was beating out of my chest and then the room turned white and I felt at peace. My heart slowed down and I survived. Jesus Christ is real people. He saved my life.

So many “churches” have abandoned the classic hymns for “praise music”. They don’t realize how much sound theology was used in writing these hymns. If you belong to Jesus, in addition to memorizing God’ Word, make every effort to memorize these hymns as well.
I praise God I attend a God fearing bible believing church and have done so for 16 years. My dear wife has joined me and we love singing such wonderful hymns like these every Sunday with brothers and sisters. Praise God. ❤

I cried so many times while I was studying, I think back, the weight in my heart is heavy, but God, You have not left me, I always pray, I always Read, to gain Your Knowledge and wisdom I give myself to You, I want to learn from You, I wish to become a Pastor one day not far away, I'm Choosen and be called by God, I am blessed.. I miss signing these hymns in church. Modern worship songs can also be powerful, but oh how I wish our church incorporated these older hymns as well. This brings me back to the small town Baptist church I attended with my grandmother in the summers; the one where I was baptized. Sweet, precious memories.

How much it has all changed. Bible-believing hymn-singing churches are sadly rare today. It’s sad, but we can listen with joy at home as we anticipate our Lord’s soon return!
My mother died from Alzheimer’s several years back. She could not remember from one minute to the next but they nurses would set them down in front of the tv with the Gaither’s gospel hour and she knew every word to every song. All of them would sing there hearts out.

When I was a child, my six siblings and I went to choir rehearsal with my parents every Thursday evening. We were blessed to be inundated with the songs represented here. I didn't appreciate it at the time, but today I realize how blessed I was to have these beautiful songs of praise etched in my Spirit. It is written: " Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6 Like the prodigal son, I grew up and went my own way. I rebelled against GOD. I found myself in some dark and dangerous places on the path I'd chosen, because I wanted to do what I wanted to do. But by the Grace of GOD, he did not leave me there. I cried out to JESUS. And my Heavenly Father forgave me. He bought me back into the fold. Hallelujah! Amen.

I remember listening to these songs in my way to church in NYC subway with headphones on, years back 2016-2019 I gave away gospel pamphlets to people hundreds of them. Covid came, troubles came, family got sick, but today we all are well and alive. I am grateful. Very grateful

Well some of them had to go through tragedy, like John Newton. The man who said the words , I have decided to follow Jesus gave up his family's life and his own life. These stories are pretty interesting.

I’m a nondenom Christian that’s been looking for good hymn worship music to listen to lately because contemporary “worship” is all watered down in my opinion. There are good contemporary Christian songs, but they don’t measure up to the beauty of Old Hymns. I pray all of those reading my comment will remember that if you’re ever doubting your faith in Jesus Christ, you are not alone. I struggle myself and want to be closer with God and to be able to lead others to him. The journey is hard, but all worth it in the end. Don’t forget that Jesus loves you and is always with you ❤

I mainly listen to this hymn praise. There are no commercials from 4 years ago, and the 2-hour hymn now memorizes almost 80% of it and sings it accordingly.
