Swissman starts a short series teaching how to effectively play Medieval II: Total War. Please spread this to anyone who needs to learn to play this game .... Please!
Dude. Every player who enjoys playing online could learn a lesson from you. Instead of just raging at every new/bad player you come across, you decided to make a tutorial series on RU-vid to educate the base into how to not only play the game toe-to-toe with better players, but to play in a more satisfying and exciting way. Good on you, man. Really appreciate this.
Don't make a lot of cavalry, have few fortresses, don't hire too many mercenaries and invest in farms and mines. Also, trade goods are worth more the farther away from your capital they are.
Thanks for the guide. I am finding this late, but is still useful. Legend of Total War on youtube hyped me up to play the game again. This series is a solid start for new or returning players.I have been torturing myself for a while with good sucess on hardest possible difficulty in RTW 1 and Warhammer 2 TW, but i enjoy the theory crafting behind your videos.
You should get guest stars for your tutorial videos. Friedrich for pikes tactics, Apollo and Lavernicus for siege ect. Will be nice to see their tactics exhibited for the various uses of certain units. This looks like it will be interesting. I hope it helps a lot of newer players.
thanks for trying to help other people, like myself who wants to get better in the total war series edit: you have a good presentation voice (if that's even a thing)
You can probably put some figures and photos from games (does not know if you have the video skills to do that). Anyway even as an experienced total war player, I liked a lot. Maybe you can expand talking about merchants, princess, etc.
did you know artillery are the only units that can take out 3 divisions of either skirmishers or infantry in a single second. its true, if your enemy positions all their units the walls, aim 5 culverin at the wall and watch 3 divisions die in less than a second. then blow up the rest of the wall just for the hell of it. its fun to watch too.
i think its good to mention the different types of art like best ones for walls, best ones for field and best ones for killing men like monster ribault, serpentine, ballista and rocket launcher
Just wondering, but where would you put the Standards? The game seems to put them in Artillery purely because they push a big wooden thing around, even if the standard itself can't attack any units. The men manning it seem to have fairly good stats and won't rout, but they're few in number and kind of expensive. There aren't enough of them to be used as line infantry, so all they're really good at is pushing the cart. So what category would you put them in?
The only really artillery that is effective in pitch battles is the ballista to counter other artillery i fell like and then catapult and trebutchet but only good if enemy bunches up really other than siege battles artillery is kinda useless
I disliked this because I thought it was visually uniteresting. Then, I noticed all the comments raving about it and thought I'd missed something. It was only when I saw it was from 2014, I realised I'd missed the last 5 years. It made me think of the technicological advances we've made since 1913. So I went back and up-voted it.
i feel like you dont mention the mongols :( they have arguably the best melee and missile cav in the game and their light lancers are pretty good too :)
How do attack and defense stats work like if i have an attack of 12 and i attack a unit with 12 defense how does that factor in damage. Also, does attackor defend only factor if my unit at a particular time in the battle happens to be attacking or defending?
Defence is made by armor skill shield Skill will determine how often your unit will block the higher the better Armor will protect from projectiles and melee units Shield will work as armor in melee and protect from projectiles
i run high cava armies i like mobility Heavy for breaking infantry formation Light to mop of isolated unites Missile to break spears and to push other missile cava away from my other cava as for infantry a decoy unit (4 units of sword and shield)
+Brady Stevens spread guns out 2 lines have the guns on skirmish mode its better than skirmish mode off because they kneel after firing and use a meatshield in front!
