Here are some answers to your questions; - Space Marines can come out of their suits but it only happens under extreme situations. - The Red Robed guy is a ”Techpriest”, a member of the Adeptus Mechanicus, a race of humans who believe Machines are holy. - The Babies are called ”Cherubs” and just fly around to assist different people within the Imperium. - The other humans are just ceremonial servants, often referred to as ”Serfs” who help Space Marines with Maintenance, Cleaning, Armaments, etc.
@@chrissierra-5633 yes, they can do it, but only in extreme combat situations, normaly they sleep every day . the record for space marine without sleep is nearly two weeks. but still this is rare situation
@@crazyjay5056 They're still a chapter not a legion. Non codex complaint chapters are there. They're not unique in that. Tho their religious fanaticism may have drifted them futher from codex than others.
Info: The Doc Ock dude is a Tech Priest of the Adeptus Mechanicus, which is a religious cult based on Mars that maintains and produces all the major technology in the Imperium of man. They have a very unusual position as their religion is based on a god that they believe exists in all machines. As such they can literally pray to tanks and weapons and get them to work. This is unusual because ordinarily the Imperium is super intolerant of any other religion beyond the worship of the Emperor. The Ad Mech gets away with it because they've essentially integrated the Emperor into their religion declaring him the physical embodiment of their Omnissiah. The flying things are cherubim, which are infant humans that have been lobotomized and given mechanical wings to become permanent servants and aids for things like Space Marines, Sisters of Battle, and the Adeptus Mechanicus. Yes Space Marines can take off their armor, the ritual is probably something observed when they have the time and ability to do so. They can also emergently don and doff their armor by themselves.
Great summary! AdMech are my favorite faction and my main army. An important detail to the AdMech: The crux of their religion is “Knowledge = Divine”. They don’t so much worship machines themselves as they view machines’ ability to retain knowledge/data indefinitely as a divine trait and blessing of the Machine God. This is why cybernetic augmentation is imperative to them - the flesh is weak and dies, but the machine is forever. To let knowledge die is heresy, so it’s your holy duty to keep your mind and it’s contents preserved.
after combat they can get out of the armor yes . and yes every time they suit up they have a ritual. and the ritual is overseen from a agent/member of the adeptus mechanicus (the red guy) and or a techmarine (think of it as a mix between a spacemarine and the red hooded guy) depending on the chapter . before the horus heresy the spacemarines had no religious rituals tho more like drills, but after the horus heresy and the rekindling of faith (in this chase that the emperor was a god) it trickle'd in and mixed with the drills they had. now 10000 years later the normal populous of the imperium are full on zealots that see the spacemarines as angels of death send by the emperor. and since the marines recruit from normal people this faith comes more and more to play . edit: it has to be sayed that to the current timeline , not all spacemarines are full on religious some see the emperor as grandfather (because they are the sons of the primachs who are consider'd sons of the emperor) and a very powerful human.
The best summary of all of 40k's factions is "All warhammer 40k factions explained" by Bricky. Can't wait for your reactions on it. PS. Welcome to the grim darkness of far future.
2:21 Those are servitors, mindless shells of what used to be humans, possibly criminals or a test tube babies. Also the flying babies (cherubs) and skulls are also servitors. The skulls usually or from loyal/pious servants the Imperium given the honor of serving after death. It is just a skull of person with bunch tech in it for a very specific task. The guy in the red robe is a Tech-priest of the Adeptus Mechanicus. The Cult Mechanicus worships knowledge and machines, here the Tech-priest most likely is going through the rites to appease the machine spirits of the armor and bolter. The other people with the upside down omega of the Ultramarines are serfs of the space marine chapter. Usually chapter serfs are those born into the serf's faminly or someone who survived trials of space marine recruitment but for a reason or other didn't just meet the requirements to go further. There are also those desperate or grateful who swear their loyalty to the chapter on the many war zones of the Imperium.
idk if it should be considered an honor to mindlessly serve LMAO 😂 We are super interested in the tech priests so hopefully we can learn more about them soon!
@@GMineo To my knowledge servo-skulls don't have any sort of consciousness it's just bone. But there have been mentions of some high tech servo-skulls with stored memories of the person. Only servo-skull are a honorary position of all the servitors. Other servitors in general are criminals made into servitors as punishment or are artificially created human. Meat puppets with no real mind or self I believe. In a one of the many books about Warhammer a space marine scout disobeyed captain's orders which later led the captain being killed. The chapter decided the scout would be made into a servitor for his f****** up.
@@GMineo AI (Abominable Intelligence) is a big no no. So the combining of organic mind with metal body is the next best thing. Also machine spirits seems to be like an AI but are actual spirits. Limited by ritual and the body (hardware) they inhabit. The servitors are mind wiped, meaning all of their memories are removed entirely, or so it would seem. Servitors with no commands to fulfill might start to wander and babble incoherently possibly trying piece together the remnants of the person that once was. Some of them even may be fully aware and they have no control over their own bodies and are subjected to the horrendous existence of being a servitor.
I love the armoring video because the monologue he does throughout is what's called his "Oathes of the Moment". It's like a pledge to go into battle with the hopes of success and carrying the will of the Emporer.
We are loving it, the community, and learning about it ourselves! We've learned so much about the space marines so far and are excited to dive into other factions soon!
The other people are the mechanicum they run all the machines and build all the tech. The flying dolls are actually dead children repurpose by mechanicum VERY GRIM DARK the are from the 80 to 90s freak me out lol. Glad to see you getting into warhammer lots of great stuff out there
In the sacred writings that carry the Emperor's words, it is written, "In great armor shall I clad them and with the mightiest guns will they be armed." A Space Marine's gear is always sacred. This applies to the power armor as well as the weapons. That's why every chapter has well-trained "Tech-Marines" who take care of the maintenance and these specialists in turn usually have veritable armies of so-called "servitors" at their disposal. A Servitor is usually identified by his red robe and essentially more machine than man. I would also like to give you a tip: "Damnatus - the enemy within" is an ambitious fan project which tells a story from the 40k universe. It's in German, but with English subtitles. Unfortunately, the project was more or less wiped out at the time by a copyright dispute. Yes, Games Workshop jealously guards its treasures, but since the internet never forgets, the film can still be seen on RU-vid today.
This space marine chapter is the ultramarine the ones from astartes is it's own homebrew chapter. Religion didn't come in till a couple thousand years after the emperor fell and is forever sitted on the golden Thorne. Also check out if the emperor had a text-to-speech device series
The robot people are legion servitors, the red robe guy is a tech priest, and there are chapter serfs helping assemble the armor. I highly suggest checking out the books sometime
The guy in the red robe was a tech priest of the mechanicus. They maintain all the imperium tech. The omega sign is unique to the ultramarines. They're the poster boys for 40k which is sad because there's way more interesting chapters like the blood angels, dark angels etc. The flying baby looking things are called cherubs. They vat grown kinda like cyborgs. They're used for lots of different things like carrying ammo. The weird cyborg looking guy attached to the wall is called a servitor. Due to the war at the end of the dark age of technology with artificial intelligence known as the men of iron, which almost wiped out mankind (this is way before the current 40k timeline and before the emperor revealed himself) ai is forbidden so any machine intelligence has to be paired with a human brain. This is where servitors come in. These are usually criminals who as punishment are turned into cybernetic slaves. Also, yes they would do this ceremony every time they don their power armor. Because the mechanicum worships the machine god, they believe all machines have what is called a machine spirit. They think if they don't do these rituals, the machine spirit will be angered and it won't function properly. The mechanicus is pretty interesting. BTW, love how into these warhammer videos you guys are. Subbed!
Fun fact you can technically make your own successor chapter in the table top game now I’m not sure that you can have the bubble gum gun or the umbrella but if your interested you can Look up the space bears I forgot the RU-vidr but his custom chapter is sick
The BEST place for someone with a lot of questions regarding Warhammer to starts is Bricky's "Every Warhamer 40,000 Faction Explained" series. It is long but it will provides answer to all your questions and massively expand your view of Warhammer behind the realm of the Imperium.
Also note that this Astartes is one of the new Primaris Astartes and not one of the older generation Adeptes Astartes, as noted by his newer styled helmet and he's using a newer Bolter Rifle instead of the standard pattern Bolter.
@@GMineo The Space Marine "Legions" were all made at mostly the same time, and they are the original 18 Legions assigned to each Primarch. After the Horus Heresy and Roboute Guilliman's (Primarch of the Ultramarines) reforms to the Space Marine Legions they were broken up into smaller "Chapters", which then meant that there had to be new "foundings" of Space Marine Chapters so as to accommodate for excess Space Marines once the Legions were broken up into these smaller chapters, and after that initial founding every so often there would be new foundings of Space Marine Chapters.
You guys must watch Helsreach you can watch the whole movie (which is 2 hours straight) or the 13 episodes (if I rememder correctly), were squad Grimaldus of the black templars assisted in the defencs of hive city of Helsreach. Btw Grimaldus gave had the best war speech I have ever heard in movies history.
@@GMineo it's ok, you can watch a parody of Helsreach called "The Black Templars" which is also set on one of the hive cities of Armageddon (the planet where Helsreach took place) or try listening to the song "Rylanor's last stand", it's a song that portraits the aftermath of the events that happend in Istvaan 3 (the place were the Horus heresy cinematic took place)
At 1:10-- to answer your question, yes actually! Space Marines do get plugged into their suits! It's a nueral interface that allows them to treat their suit like a second skin and allows them to use all of its features subconsciously
that's really cool! We were suprised mostly because we haven't seen anything like it before, but it only makes sense maybe especially with how much control they need over such a large suit. Thank you so much for taking the time to not only watch but comment David!
@@GMineo If you're interested, the tech that allows them to interface with their armor is the last of 19 augments to become a full Astartes, it's called the Black Carapace. Its implanted under the skin and covers the full torso and had tendrils that reach to the wrists and ankles. Only Astartes get the Black Carapace, whereas others who use power armor have to do without
And don’t forget the huge iron backpack they’re carrying , that thing is the main reason as to why the Astartes can move how they did , and how they can survive harsh toxic deadly poisoning environment
Yeh marines are usually on boats. But then these marines often deploy from giant ships from space flotillas. So like in star trek they refer to the star fleet command at times as the admiralty board, and not a war room of generals. They are called space ships, not space tanks so it makes sense that the idea of the militarisation of space using ships would be an evolution of the navy rather than the army. Hence space marine.
that makes a lot of sense! We were wondering why they were called that but we just thought marines were usually considered really cool so they used that term instead
In the other video u reacted titled ASTARTES those guys are the First Born/Old Guy's while this guy in this video is the New Born/New Guy's. The New Guy's are slightly taller, stronger, faster and smarter with some Genetic Flaws addressed in the new ones that was never fix on the old guy's, this new Guy's are called Primaris Marines the latest model to the Adeptus Astartes.
Also to add to what the others have already posted, the marine in the video is an Ultramarine, one of the founding Legions the Emperor of Mankind made. The ritual is fittingly pompous, drawn out and celebrated -for what is insinuated to be - for every battle brother. The Techpriests of the Adeptus Mechanicus pray to the Machine Spirit of the bolter to aid the marine, while other priests and cherubs seal the marine in his armor, praying all the while. The armor and bolter are also annointed with purity seals (and holy oils, in the case of some chapters) to declare that the bearer of the armor and bolter is a loyal and righteous son of the Emperor. As far as Ultramarines go, you would really expect this level of pompousness.
I would recommend watching some lore videos, even off-camera if you want. It would help you understand and maybe enjoy more what you are watching, but if you want to continue and go blind and then do the research that's also fun, maybe even funnier. If u want some lore videos that might give you some extra details on the context I would give bricky's videos a shot.
The man in red is a priest of the adeptus mechanicus, could be a artificor or an enginseer. His duty is to apiece the Maschine spirit of the armour, so she is fully functional. This is why the armouring takes so long. The right blessings and prayers have to be applied so the spirit of the Maschine is at peace. He is supported by chapter servs and servitors. Servitors are lobotomiesed humans that fulfill meanliel tasks or dangerous heavy duties. So they are programmed to their job. And only their job. Its a pretty shitty existens. Rhe servs are often failed astartes aspirarants that couldn’t accept the gene seed. So they serve the chapter in a different way.
we didn't know that there was spiritual blessings to the armour! That is super cool! We just thought it was part of the ceremony. Also... Servitors are freaky as hell. It's like the butter robot from Rick and Morty 😂
@@GMineo basically yes. If you use a criminal and drill into his brain. Also if he is lucky he doesn’t remember his past live and dies some years of hard work later. It also not uncommon that they work themselves to death because nobody told them to stop.
@@GMineo to explain my comment, the Primaris Space Marines are a new breed of Marines recently introduced to the franchise and lore. You can tell by the pattern of the armor and the bolt rifle he is using. The video does not state this. It appears that Games Workshop are replacing the first born Marines with the Primaris going forward. Even though there is a canonical explanation for there existence. In my opinion it is due to the older Space Marine miniatures looking a little stunted in comparison to the regular human Imperial Guardsman. As the sculpts and miniature making improved they could make larger more detailed figures that fit the lore better. Strangely they made a lore reason to explain the size difference. This is a contentious issue in the fan base. BTW the moment you said "I knight thee..." I felt you really understood what the Space Marines are. Though not knights in the traditional sense, they do have that status and presence to the rest of mankind.
That is so interesting! I love how they tied it into the story to justify miniture changes (if that's the case). We've been feeling the knight vibe for a while, just more like the raider crusader knights instead of the ones you see in movies 😂😂
@@GMineo no it's quite the opposite. Starcraft was originally meant to be in warhammer universe but later it was changed. That's why starcraft is so similar to warhammer.
@@GMineo Games Workshop ,the company that owns Warhammer 40k, Warhammer Fantasy( which was disconitued officially) & Warhammer: Age of Sigmar, partnered up with Blizzard for a series of RTS games, set in their universes. During the development, both companies had a fallout and GW cancelled the whole project. Blizzard had at this point put so much work into these games and didn´t wanted to go all t waste. So... they changed all the assets enough, so that GW couldn´t sue them for copyright infrigment and made Warcraft & Stacraft. The Zergs from Starcraft are literally assets for the Tyranids, re-purposed by Blizzard. GW pretty much shot themselfs in the foot.
@@GMineo The Raptor is fan-made and also a First-born Marine, while this video is official and also a Primaris Marine. So there are differences in understanding of the lore BUT could also be explained by the fact that it's simply two different types of Space Marines.
There's also another Space Marine armoring up fan animation which is called The Raptor ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AWnQedD4BlI.html It is inspired by StarCraft 2 animation. Which one is cannon you may ask? They both are. While this Ultramarine is in his ritual of donning his first armor, the Raptor were in an active Warzone and thus he must did it very efficiently. Furthermore, Ultramarine are a Chapter that is very by the book and ritualistic, the Raptors, who are a successor chapter of the Raven Guard, are more akin to a modern military force than warrior monks. They don't have a uniformed battle cry nor paint scheme, they use camouflage and ambush tactics and they are extremely pragmatic.
if you want more about the dudes in red (the adeptus mechanicus) Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus teaser trailer ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9gIMZ0WyY88.html ) If I had to guess the people in there was a high ranking techpreist (the doc-ock guy) then you have an inquisitor or inquisitorial priest (the I rosary dude, and guy handling the purity seals) and probably the rest are admech acolytes with the skulls being servo skulls made from high ranking and loyal imperium people (there are many variety of servitor on an Adeptus mechanics world being a criminal is a good way to become a servitor while your still alive and conscious of everything until you are destroyed so imagine being made into an automatic door for the next billion years with no way to not do your job) and cherubs (these are made out of babies and the imperial church loves to have them around)
Just so you're aware, the Space Marines aren't always this ritualistic with their armouring processes. They are soldiers after all, and they have the option of a quicker method involving only a few specially designed Servitors when practicality and time requires it. Lord Commander Dante, Chapter Master of the Blood Angels Space Marines and overall commander of half the Imperium, had such an arming station in his personal quarters aboard his old flagship with only two Servitors if I am not mistaken.
They can take the armor off. But it takes a team to put it on. In one book the space marine goes to training and takes a shower after. He gets 4 splashes of hot water to shower with lol.
"I never knew the ultra marines were so religious" The ritual is to bless his armor and weapon so they work better because they carry a machine spirit, the baby's arnt baby's they are made of random body parts shaped to look like a baby, yes armor comes off but they hook it up to their body so they work better with the armor like a second skin(the black suit he puts on before the armor) and the as you say doc oc is a tech priest who blesses the armor and weapons not psykers
@@GMineo the body parts are mostly slaves or prisoners so they keep them alive as robots to repent or just cuz they want robot slaves because human brain work better and is the closest thing to AI
this is a Ultra Marine these guys are the Angle of Death the Loyal kind of brothers you want for defending the Emperor and Mankind ! but for these Marines there will be indeed pain in head and suffer from all these war's they will not stay Loyal to those they defend we unleash the Dark side and the Terror and Ultimate Nightmare for all of mankind i got Warhammer 40K figurines and i play the game for my self and what i done is perfection ! i got green stuff and when ever i use this stuff i do creations that will safe those who stuck in internal doom ! i created my self Chaos Ultra Marines yeah yeah wait yeah i can see it they will be no longer use the name of CSM they use the name CUM i know god damnit.... but they look very very good !
That "doc ock" looking guy is a Tech-priest. He is an engineer, but in the Imperium they don't just care for machines, the Adeptus Machanicus (Tech-priests) holds them with religious revelry. It is key to know that in the 41st millennium technology is not invented, it is found. The Cult of the Machine God that is based on Mars are the only ones in the Imperium that know not only to run but make new equipment. This is why their boarder line heretical beliefs are allowed, because if the Imperium doesn't have guns it can't kill more heretics. The other thing you see here is them doing a ritual to put on the armor, this is to appease "the machine spirit", the idea that every machine has its own soul and it self decides whether it will work or not, so they pray to the machines so that they work. They might not be wrong in this idea though as there are tons of occasions of machines doing the supernatural, and it is hypothesized that the "machine spirit" is just a form of AI.
Each 'nub' symbolizes a century of service. The babies are called 'Cherubs', basically lobotomized cyborg babies that perform basic duties like a droid in star wars. The 'doc-oc' character is a tech priest, who is part of the Adeptus Mechanicus. They basically control all advanced technology and worship said technology. They believe that the flesh is weak and seek to become one with the Machine-God by replacing their organic components with mechanical. Armor can be removed, but typically donning it is a ritualistic process.
and here we thought we had learned enough to watch this cinematic! 😂 I guess not, so thank you for the explanation! It is much darker than we excpected when we jumped into the lore!
@@polarbear6479 true , they don’t just deploy a thousand marine at the same time.
